- Three things that you should not do to repair a metal roof. Using Silicone sealant incorrectly and other products will cause more damage and rust to the metal.

It might be helpful to say what SHOULD be used
dont know where you are but anywhere temperate you can use lap sealant ...clean the area properly first . lap sealant comes two ways , in a tube for a caulk gun and in a can , the can product is self leveling . good stuff .
I think it was too short. I say put more roofing under the old and extend it out. I can not see what is under the edge but I know it should not be like that.
PS: Never wear FLIP FLOPS on a roof! Still...love your video. Thanks for the Tips!
psh i rock crocs all day everywhere. just need to get me a steel toe pair and im good to go
So what is the yes yes?
His answer is Turbo Seal, and Super Silicone Seal, both only available in US as far as i can find, wish we could get it in Europe
Thank you sir, and good lady at the end of the video :)
It would have been nice to know your solution. Oh if we knew then we wouldn't need to hire a professional.
Ok so you wasted my time with the no no's as I was waiting for the yes yes you never gave that. Why make a video of what not to do unless you're going to give information on what to use instead.
A great primer is mixing polyurethane sealer with lacquer thinner. Then use polyurethane over that. If you are doing a large area, mix some paint thinner with polyurethane sealer to make a paint and roll it on. Polyurethane works better than tar that cracks as the oil evaporates, better than elastomeric that doesn’t stick well or hold up when you walk over it, better than silicone that cures so fast it might not stick. I use the polyurethane for sealing windows and doors around vents but use self leveling polyurethane for concrete for the flat areas of the roof. Be sure and get exterior polyurethane that resists UV light.
Imagine telling ppl what not to do on a roof while wearing monk strap slides 😂😂😂
@SMark89 agreed not real bright.
I bought the turbo poly seal but, it says it won't stick to tar or silicone. My problem is I been working for 3 days trying to remove all the stuff from the roof and no way I can remove everything. There is wat too much and it is too hard and my tin is aluminum and it is so thin that the grinder and metal bristle brush is making the metal very thin. This is way to much for me to remove and rain is coming. What can I do to make the turbo poly seal stick? HELP
I guess whoever done that fine work probably gave a taillight Warrantee

Bitumen flashing and new screws/washers on mine
And the fourth “no no”… wearing flip flops to repair the roof!
can a weatherproofing silicone be used in the vertical overlaps of these metal roof sheets ?
Water somehow leaks when it rains heavyly .... not much but a few drops from the vertical overlap places , thanks in advance !!
I ask myself the same...
Use a elastomeric coating. Don't use silicone on any roof at anytime.
Lap sealant better ....used in mobile home , travel trailer and cargo trailer roof systems ....gun grade in tubes for caulk guns and self leveling in cans ....Dicor is one we use
What should be used then ? Duh!…. still waiting
Waste of time. I want to repair not listen to a so called expert
Yep this did not help
It's garbage and will remain so no matter how many repairs you make.
Tear it off and replace it. Don't waste your time and their money
love ur flip flop you hippie roofer..peace pot micdot dude
