Sometimes I struggle to understand how it is possible for people to put this much effort in that good of a product and be able to share it with the world, for free, and yet be able to afford a living next to that. You're all amazing and that shines through ProjectLibre !
Thank you for your nice message. We have a passion for project management and do hope to get sponsored in the future. The donations don't even cover the cost of hosting :-) However, we are improving and appreciate your message.
Build it and they will come! Brand first, profit always follow recognized brands. Hard to build a brand when profit is the priority first. Awesome work!
Wow! I'm blown away by the simplicity but yet powerful features. Thank you for your work and also keeping it free. You've done your bit for humanity. Great fellow!
I just started using Project Libre, but I am an experienced scheduler, having used Primavera and MS Project for over thirty years,. I'm bowled over by the software, it is excellent. Thanks for undertaking this effort.
Thank you so much Gustavo! I got started in Mainframe PM with PSDI and DOS days so your 30 years resonates :-) It is very much appreciated. We work hard on it and want to make a difference in the PM world.
It is excellent. I've replaced MS Project with it.
This is an amazing open source software and thank you for making it available!
"I don't want to take too much of your time" is the main motto of this video. Great content, thank you!
Thank you for an excellent delivery. I look forward to using and sharing this great product!
Really great demo! Simple and to the point. Tool is also very easy to use. Thank you!
Fantastic work done by you guys at Libre. Kudos
Awesome software, love the features! Thank you so much for the development & your competent demonstration! I´m subscribed
Thanks for this - looking forward to the next parts
Thank you SO MUCH for this. My professors will now think me less an idiot thanks to you good sir.
I have (been) volunteered for a project at a non-profit with no budget for the project. This software looks amazing. I have used Microsoft Project, but no longer have access to it. From the video, this looks very intuitive so I should be able to make it useful very quickly. This will help in the planning, but will also help people understand why we can't finish it in a week.
Thanks a lot, Marc for Software and how to use this software video both. Hats off for keeping it free. Great Philanthropy
Thank you Zafar, it means a lot!
Thank you for the feedback and emails. I will have a follow-up video of our upcoming ProjectLibre Cloud shortly
So far so very good. I have joined your LinkedIn page on plan on exploring your app further.
Thank you for your splendid efforts. Using this package a lot lately. Really great work.
I need some work on it crackother.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=730&action=edit
Wow...just awesome. Haven't used MS Project in years ...was now looking for a good free tool...this has just blown me away. Awesome.
Thank you! The team works very hard and it is nice to get the comment...
GReat product - I am building a home and this was exactly what I needed.
Wish I had remembered learning about Gantt Charts back in the 90s while earning my Bachelor of Science for use while being in the Army from 01-14. This is really nice. We used MS Project in one of my Graduate Courses with DeVry.
Awesome work Marq. Great software and a neat demo. Thanks a lot.
Thank you Sahil!
Fantastic work ! ProjectLire is running on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS as a snap package without any issues. Great work.
Awesome, I ran ProjectLibre on my Ubuntu laptop for a few years. We have almost 500,000 Linux users so it is important!
This is amazing. Thank you for making it open source.
Thanks alot; this software is beneficial in the management of projects. I love the simplicity. I have learned a lot through the demo.
Super! I will start using now!
I look forward to see where this goes, very helpfull!
Thank you! We are working very hard
Awesome explanation. Very comprehensive and useful.
Thank you for the message, we try very hard
Very impressive ... Thank you!

Splendid work, I found it helpful. Best wishes team ProjectLibre...
Thank you Hamza, the comments are appreciated..... best wishes to you as well.
Great Software, Thanks Guys !!!
Totally awesome.. God Bless you !!
I need some work on this website crackother.com/wp-admin/edit.php
thank you for this amazing software.
Thank you for the open source and your splendid efforts. It would be great if you able to show more details on, how is the overtime rate triggered, and how to set the specific task to work in overtime. much appreciate !
Yes, we have gotten that a couple times.... it turns out both ProjectLibre and Microsoft Project do overtime in a way that does not seem intuitive. This has us discussing internally. We want to do a few more videos but time just seems to get away. We'll try this week.
Excellent. Thank you.
that was very usefull, thank you!
100 percent downloading it today
Its an awesome application...Serves the purpose of the greater corprate good!
We agree!
thank you very much for the video, it is a very good and informative tutorial for using the software. I request you to share the best open-source software that can be used for various personal and commercial purposes
Hvala za ProjectLibru.
Baš ste dobrodošli! Za Hrvatsku i jedenje ćevapa me vežu lijepa sjećanja
Thank you so very much fot this video! It helped me so much!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the free open source PM software, appreciate your efforts
You are welcome!
nice job man, you save my day :)
Good luck with your projects!
Wow... Thank you an I am truly grateful.
Glad it was helpful... we continue to improve
Thank you. It help to decide.
Excellent and glad it was helpful
Anyone got any idea how to change so that the starting days of the week is Monday instead of Saturday. (Guessing that this is an difference in European vs US style)
Stellar!
Brilliant!
Impressive Thanks
Its an awesome application!! Our task times are too tiny (minute-based). Is it possible to customize it to minutes?
Billions thanks, Bro.
Looking forward to free 'Windows' OS. Which is 100% compatible to ms Windows .
well explained
Hi, I would need to know if LibreProject is able to manage the same resources on different projects by giving reports about it.
Thanks
It's a pity that is only available as a .DEB file, which is restricting.
Are there any .RPM versions available or APPIMAGE?
I want to run it on openSUSE without the need for a Virtual Machine running Ubuntu.
Very well done!! Need more like this clear explanation. Only , please, slow down speech speed for non native english speakers, and also the instructions and mouse selections. It is not a race, it is a teaching and marketing lesson. And you are "acting" for the world not only USA. Thanks nad regards
Good point.... it was done quickly on purpose. However perhaps we should do an international version which is more language sensitive.
youtube can play video at slower speeds.
As Atheist_Poo mentioned, click on the gear icon and lower the playback speed to, e.g., .75.
In addition, turn on subtitles: click on Cc.
Good Job Marc! The tool is already fine but please make it as powerful as possible to free us from you know who ;)
Thank you for the nice comment! We are working very hard and have a long term dedication so it will continue improving. The next milestone is getting the Cloud version into Beta testing at the end of the month. The desktop version has a list to continue improving as well.
Thank you so much for ProjectLibre and thank you for your videos, it helps a lot!
Do you have any video how to set the calendar, and how to configure the Gantt Map in order to set the calender in Months, or weeks (have zoom out or zoom in of the calendar)?
We can do a future video.... you can Zoom in and Out using the icons in the Ribbon on the Gantt chart.
🤗thank you
What's funny is that I was looking for something like this a couple months before this video came out and was jaded by Project Manager from Microsoft being so expensive when I just wanted to track my personal project. I may check it out later however.
Great, I hope it works for you!
Thanks🌹
This is awesome..
Thank you Najib, the team works very hard and always appreciate the community!
Marc: Great, Thanks! I'd like integrate this into a new product development course at our university. I've reached out to your general support email and look forward to some discussion on this.
Hello Mark, that is terrific. We are big proponents of project management education!
the video is very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Does ths app have collaboration features. Like can a team member update/edit a project in real time or is this just for one user at a time with no cloud support?
Good question... our Cloud version will start Beta testing this week in a limited release. It is for teams and is role based. The project team can be anywhere in the world and work together in the browser.
hey
can it be download on any Mac version. If not how can I download its old version that is available for my MacBook
Yes, it should work on your older macOS.
Can a project be combined wih the roster of crew members? So that if a person works on non standard days, like scattered over time, that the project changes accordingly?
Hi Geoff, yes ProjectLibre has multiple Calendars.... Project, Task and Resource Calendars. Example: a resource only works on M, T and it is assigned to a 4 days task... the Task will only be worked on M and T due to that constraint. The Work/Hours would only be by default 4 x 8hrs so a 32 hour work however those 32 hours would be done on M, T week 1 and M, T week 2
on point
How would this work with multiple Project Managers having access to the same resource pool? In that case I would need to see other assignments from other Project Managers. Is this possible with ProjectLibre? Or is this only possible with the Cloud version?
What is the roadmap of the Cloud version?
Can the Cloud version be installed on-premise?
Hello Duncan, ProjectLibre Cloud has a central resource pool and is designed for teams. ProjectLibre desktop was designed for single use less for a team and no central resource pool.
I'm using the Project Libre software. Is it possible to make an activity a SS and FF at the same time? I tried to do so but it can only work with just SS or FF and not both at the same time
I am not sure that is standard PM BOK usage..... what an interesting question
Hi- I'm trying to install on OS Ventura 13.0.1 but I'm getting an error stating that the program can't be verified.
You need to go to System Preferences.... then Security/Privacy and allow ProjectLibre to be installed. Apple has a horrendous warning because it is not downloaded from the Apple Store. You are downloading from Sourceforge. A lot of us here at ProjectLibre also have macOS and it is a problem with Apple and above our pay grade :-)
Go to:
* Systems Preferences
* Security Privacy
* Allow install of ProjectLibre
Please let the community know your results!
Hi there. I sent you an email yesterday as I had created a project on which I spent almost the afternoon, and once I finished it I tried to save it to my PC by clicking on the top left buttons (diskette icon) but it didn't work as many attempts as I made, so.........apart from having gotten to save a PDF of the Gantt all my work was lost!! Question is, why save button didn't work? Thanks a lot for your prompt response.
I am sorry, this got lost.... that sounds like a Java issue was somehow impacting you. Did you get it resolved? Please send an email again and we can dig into the issue. It is not a normal issue we hear.
Thanks for the video Sr, is this program able to define the project critical route?
Yes, the Critical Path is calculated and shows in red
Great thing with no cost. God Bless you Sir. Can we insert customise column/s in this ?
Yes, there is the capability to insert custom columns if you right click in the spreadsheet you can Insert Columns.... you can scroll down and insert a number column or a text column that are custom and you can rename from the generic "Text 1" to something meaningful
Thank you, it is help projects. Is there available for Window, 32 bit?
Yes, ProjectLibre is a Java application and the JVM runs on 32 bit
Great job with Project Libre!. I have a question. For example, When we have a resourse overallocated in Microsoft project we can go to "resoruces-Resourses levelling- level all" to make a redistribution of the overallocated resourses. In this case, How we can solve this in Project libre??
Great question.... there was a very early discussion within ProjectLibre's team on automated or manual resource leveling. There was a win by he "purist' group and we do manual resource leveling with the histogram as a "sub-view' under the Gantt Chart.
pretty good
How can I change the "standard rate" symbols on resources? I want them to be Pound or ZAR and not dollar! how can I do it?
How to change Language, Date Format and Currency in ProjectLibre
Windows OS
How to change:
Interface Language (e.g. from Italian to English)
Date format (e.g. mm/dd/yy → dd/mm/yy)
Coin Type (e.g. $ → €)
Following two solutions, the second one (B) is a bit more complex then the first one (A) but
more flexible:
A) Create a projectlibre.conf file
1. Create a new directory in your User folder:
e.g. C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\.projectlibre (note the . before projectlibre).
2. In the new directory create(*) a text file called "projectlibre.conf" (must be real a ".conf"
file or it will not work).
3. As administrator edit the file and insert the string “locale=en” (without the quotes)
4. Save changes.
This method changes AT ONCE the interface language, coin type and date format
according to chosen the language setting.
(*)Alternatively you can copy a .conf file from an other directory and paste it in the new .projectlibre one. If so
remember to cancel all the previous .conf file contents
B) If you are MacOS or Linux users we suggest using the first option but for WIndows users use the java launcher option settings:
1. Navigate to your installation directory, lets say C:\Program Files(x86)\ProjectLibre
2. Open, as administrator, in Notepad the "projectlibre.bat" file and change the string:
- from: java -Xms128m -Xmx768m -jar projectlibre.jar
- to the following (note the two lines):
@echo off
java -Xms128m -Xmx768m -Duser.language=en -Duser.country=AU -jar projectlibre.jar
3. Save changes.
You now have set an English language interface, dd/mm/yy date format and $ as coin type.
IMPORTANT: In order to work correctly you have to click the projectlibre.bat file and NOT the
projectlibre.exe (or the previous desktop link to the exe file) file anymore.
(This procedure works also with java 64 bit).
I have a question does this software allow using different timing formats for different project files? For example : if I'm scheduling a one day event I'd need start time and finish time on the worksheet to be in hrs:mins format while for a larger project(Spanning across weeks or months) I'd need that to show in a date format like "12 Jan 2020". The reason for this query is that MS project requires to change the general global settings each time I change from the type of schedule I'm working with so if ProjectLibre provides this minute feature I'd definitely be switching because it would make my work so much more convenient using your software.
Context: I'm an engineer by trade so have to work with varying duration of schedules based on the work.
A couple notes... Project Management software in general is not really targeted for a project lasting only minutes.... that being noted, you can enter durations in minutes, hours, days, weeks or months... you can also zoom your project accordingly. You can also now change date formats from M/D/Y to D/M/Y in the preferences
@@ProjectLibreCloud Thank you for your response. So, are the date formats in the preferences a global setting (i.e. for all files) or a local setting(i.e. changeable in each file)? But my question was for stuff like a one day workshop kind of project where all the activities are done in certain number of hours/minutes.
In other discussion areas I read about the possibility of being able to view a project summary of multiple projects in the future. These discussion s were dated in 2016. Has this been integrated into the latest release? Or does the program have this capability now?
We have been working on the Cloud version. It has been difficult as we do not have corporate sponsorship. I am using it internally now and it does have multi project features.
Is there a way to use the open source version across multiple users, so that team members can enter/log their hours against a task?
Thank you for the message.... ProjectLibre Cloud is in beta testing and going very well. It is a team and role based solution. It is designed for teams across multiple users to all update their tasks. We will recommend teams use the Cloud version but if it is an individual user to continue using the free desktop solution.
I just tried this software on MAC. When you place start and finish dates on tasks, they don't stay, and they change to 1970?
Hi Stan, I run it on my Mac as well and have never seen that.... Do you have a constraint on the Project or tasks ? That is very strange if you want to send the project to info@projectlibre.com we can give you an answer. Thanks for the message...
*I still can't figure out how ot add a cost for a purchased product for a project.*
Cost is accrued from resources assigned to tasks.... You need to have cost on the resource and have them assigned to tasks. There is a video on this.
How I can protect my data?? Can we use any password for protecting from any editing
Good question.... we have a cloud version coming out where that will be important. ProjectLibre desktop is really designed for single user as it is not team based
Hello, Cant find a download link for mac, kindly send the link. thankyou
The download link is on our website and it will detect your operating system so will download a .dmg for your Mac
What is the first column that can be seen in Task View? I hid the column, but I don't know what it is, and I don't what column to look for if I want to add it again.
Also, thank you for the video (and the software)!
Great question..... it is called the Indicators column. The Indicators column displays task based status such as Complete with a green check mark if 100% percent complete. It also displays task constraints such as Must Start On date etc..... if you hover the cursor over an indicator it will show the task indicator.
@@ProjectLibreCloud Thank you for the quick and comprehensive reply!
Adding a spreadsheet column: it sounds like you have it covered but wanted to post for the community. ProjectLibre has a default set of columns. There are also many other pre-set columns. The empty block in the top left corner of the spreadsheet (directly above the 1) when right clicking in the box you can select other pre-configured spreadsheet columns for things like Cost or Earned Value. You can also enter a new column by right clicking in the top bar and selecting Insert Column then choosing which you would like to insert.
Thanks a lot! A little thing, it's not easy to move inside, the mouse wheel doesn't work on gant diagram and neather on the left side, I had to use the arrows :(.
the mouse to go up and down I mean... and may be, like in other programs, +Shift to scroll in horizontal +ctrl to zoom, etc. Anyway i will use it, i like it very much.
Yes, to scroll the entire screen left to right on Mac is Function and the up/down arrows
I got a username and password set up and I think I downloaded the software but only the home page comes up after log in. Where do I go to start adding in a project?
Hi William, there is no username or password for the desktop software. You simply launch on Mac, Windows or Linux. This video shows how to start your project.
@@ProjectLibreCloud I tried and still nothing comes up so I can start anything.
Why there are two colors of task lines (red and blue) ? Couldn't find out...
Hello there..... there is a standard the PMBOK and the definition of critical path tasks are red and non-critical are blue. We have a few videos that discusses scheduling.
@@ProjectLibreCloud thank you!
First time having computer fatigue was when using this software
I'm a few days trying to find a column that shows the quantity of days that a task is late. Can someone please help me?
Hi Angelo, baseline your project then you can insert (right click in the spreadsheet header) a column called Finish Offset. It will show the delta between the baseline and current finish. I hope that helps
@@tahoeob Helped me a lot! Thank you very much!
Hi,
I just found your information from gooling. It looks very good. Thanks a lot for your cooperations.
By the way can I control it's data file (pod file). I mean can I fill it from other applications? Or can I manuplate pod data from VB or C++?
Regards,
Mucip:)
Thank you for the message... we are looking at an API for the Cloud version.
Dear @@ProjectLibreCloud ,
Thanks for quick answer.
Well, can I create POD file from C++ or VB? What is file structure of POD file?
Can we add scurve with this software?
Yes, you can add S-Curve in the Charts view
What should i do to make it compatible with Macos monterey ?
It is compatible... the problem is Apple makes you go to Systems Preferences the Security/Privacy and allow it to install. Apple does this since ProjectLibre is not downloaded from the Apple Store. I run it on my macOS and it is an unnecessary hurdle. Go to Security/Privacy and allow the install and you should be fine.
@@marcobrien1157 thanks marc, but im already having it in my mac it hangs and not smooth at all , its like using autocad in i3 core
PL is fantastic! Is there anything compatible for android?
There may be in the future with our cloud version
How I make pert chart in project Libre kindly assist me.i am waiting your positive response
Hi there, there is a nuance in your question... ProjectLibre can create a Network Diagram and it is interactive. A pert chart is technically a different chart where the tasks are called Nodes and it is a chart of nodes. Pert itself is a method that we would like to employ in the future which consists of each task having an Optimistic, Pesimistic and Most Likely duration. You can weigh the probability of each estimated duration and it gives you the probabalistic duration for the task.... long answer. You may just be looking at our Network Diagram.
Please, explain hoy to import entire list of activities from a spreasheet
Hello Kuranam, there was just another question on our community website on this topic..... the current ProjectLibre spreadsheet technology needs to get ripped and replaced :-) It does not effectively allow cut/copy/paste from a spreadsheet without issues.... in particular precedence relationships etc.
Sure wish there could be an open source server version of this (self hosted)
Hi Ronnie, we are working on a Cloud version that will be multi-project and has a dashboard etc. It will be a SaaS solution not self hosted.
@@ProjectLibreCloud That's too bad. Seems to be the norm these days...
Can I transfer these data into Excel files??
Great question.... you can save as an .xml file which can be opened in Excel
Но, в любом случае, спасибо за видео!
Спасибо
I should attend a Microsoft Project course :( so I'm looking for an alternative tool in linux env.
We are looking to add training partners..... is there a particular area we an do another video to compliment this one and help?
o yea gonna libre all my prjects
