Dude it takes any type of light to charge…. All you need to do is set the area you have your gun in on fire and it charges the optic. Everybody knows this. Also, I just sharted.. I’m ashamed but proud. I have confusing emotions sometimes.
No need to cut the slide, holosun makes one that bolts directly to the mos screw pattern, no need for taller sights, it sits low enough regular sights are lower 1/3, the slide serration on the optic align perfectly with the Glock, and it doesn’t need very much light time to charge. They’ve really done something.
I love my HS507K x2 The only improvement I thought it could use at the time was to be fully enclosed(snow, dirt, mud especialy)I didn't get the solar because its concealed carry or in a safe So I like the flat 3$ battery that last 20,000 hrs(thats over 2 years constantly on) Most likely 5 years intermittently. What happens in 5 years when their internal battery doesn't work anymore(3 yr electronics waranty) I keep my battery, thanks.

I feel like I’d want the option of a back up battery. How often is your sidearm directly in the sunlight for long periods of time? What happens in jungles or rain forests?
Ambient light will keep it charged forever. It'll last 20,000 hours in a cave with no light source at all, so just take it around the house, to the range, in the truck, etc. will keep it charged easily.

I agree. Buuut this is more designed for the end of the world folk, those people would buy this in a.heart beat. That's the only logical market, even a die hard hunter that spends several nights in the woods wouldn't need this

I’ll stick to the a battery. Your guns are used outside for a few hours, and in use while outside for target practice. When you are done, you have it in the house, in a safe, locked away from kids or general house safety. No where is there sunlight, unless you leave your guns outside or take the sight off and leave it outside. The only way for this to be good, is if your safe is glass and next to a window..
That's cool for the range, but what about the folks that work primarily in the evening/night? Or the person that grabs this from their mini safe in the middle of the night?

The challenge is to have the technology and affordable to masses.
