It was done very quickly, so please try to thank them for their hard work. I took the liberty of editing some of the lines to sound smoother in English.
Hello everyone! Hope you are doing well!
It was an interesting MV. I feel very bad for Shidou. His family is just adorable. I think it would be worth voting him innocent because, to me, it's clear he wouldn't do the same thing again (or even have the opportunity to, his wife and kids are likely all dead at this point...). I think he'd probably also live the rest of his life trying to atone and be a good person. But like, if my family member was braindead and then randomly had their organs harvested by the doctor, I would probably be pretty upset lmao.
I'll see you next time for Mahiru's.
    Voice Actors:
    Es: Amami Yurina
    Shidou: Nakamura Shuug

I think that, instead of him doing transplants to find a way to save his family, he was doing all of these transplants out of his sense of justice and common sense -- begging people to give up their family's on life support and even maybe going against their wishes at times to save other lives -- but when his family was in an accident and in a similar position, he could no longer do the same. He can't bring them back, but he couldn't let them go, and he hated himself for that contradiction, therefore he retroactively saw himself as guilty for all of those 'murders'. Someone in the comments also said that they think his wife was involved in the cover ups in some way. I think that tracks if any were below board.

Shidou’s VA sounding choked up towards the end of the video pulled on my heart strings. Shidou’s struggle with wanting to d1e versus his want to protect the injured was a nice improvement for his character. Also Es saying he was thankful for Shidou being at Milgram and saving Mahiru and Fuuta was a nice change from Es bullying a lot of the other prisoners.
Psst… Shidou if you still want to have a kid like you Haruka is still a child in my country and he’s in need of a positive parental figure. Seriously praise him slightly and he’ll think you’re his mom. Adopt him.

I think that's honestly a really interesting concept, the last part. Unlike Mu; Shidou is older, wise, etc., and ACTUALLY a parent. He knows how to raise children, and it looks like he was a very good father too. Going from having a spoiled teen as a parental figure to an actual father as a parental figure would be a great improvement in many ways for Haruka. Def much healthier.
But I think it wouldn't only help Haruka out, but also Shidou as well! He clearly still misses his sons, so maybe having a son figure in his life again would make him happier and want to live more...?
Of course, that could also cause problems like Haruka and Mu had (e.g. Haruka/Shidou begging for the other to be innocent) but overall it'd be a much sweeter relationship. I wanna see it happen!!!

    @poiesis2273 Před rokem +95

It was interesting to see in this voice drama how Shidou mentions Es being trapped as much as they are, apart from the fact that they were given different roles from the start. In the sense that we are the one making choices and imposing them on Es, we could suppose that we are the problem in the story. If nobody would vote then nothing would happen.
But at the same time I can’t stop myself wondering if we are not trapped like them. The project Milgram proposes us to interact with the character with only 2 options : Guilty or Innocent ( or forgiven and unforgivable if we follow a more literal traduction from japanese ) But as the songs and the voice drama keep showing us, theirs sins can’t be treat with a black and white vision, as they always flirt in a gray zone. So even us, we are given as only means to interact with the story, something that doesn’t seem fair or right.
As a whole, it would seem that the project milgram in itself is something that gives us a role to play as the others, the prisoners, the guardian, being the bridge between us and the prisoners, and us, the one who were given the role to judge. We seem to all play the role that the project milgram (seem to be incarnated by Jackalope ) gave us, which of course relates to the experiment that gave the name to the project.
Then the question is, can we outsmart the project or can we only play the role that was given to us ? ( As it seems very inconceivable to not vote at all and they not really any other mean to interact with the project that to vote and debate which is what Milgram wants us to do)

an easy innocent vote with great curiosity towards the third trial.
i'm really starting to wonder if there's something boiling under the surface here...part of me wonders if we're getting the full story. generally considering the way that shidou talks about the film ["oh; so that's what it shows..."] makes me think that there's potentially more nuance to it.
either that, or after two innocent verdicts, shidou's feeling of "indispensability" will override his sense of guilt.
a few crack theories at the end: the anti transplant family is from amane's cult; shidou and kotoko are conspiring in some way; shidou has some sort of mad scientist agenda. *please* don't take any of these seriously.

There are good reasons to vote Shidou innocent - like his ability to treat injured prisoners - but I feel like some crucial details about his murders have been left out. From what Shidou tells Es in this voice drama alone, it sounds like this: He transplanted many organs from braindead patients to living ones (he had to get consent from the braindead patients’ families, it seems), therefore he took the lives of patients who could not be saved so that he could save the lives of people who had a better chance of living. He didn’t see it as wrong back then but now he does, for whatever reason. From that information alone, it sounds like he didn’t do anything wrong at all.
But, from both of his MVs and his talk of valuing family in this voice drama, it’s heavily implied that Shidou committed his murders in order to save a family member of his, likely his wife. Why didn’t he outright tell Es that? Why is that additional layer of sympathy for his character necessary? It makes me wonder if he took more drastic, unethical measures to save his family member, like prioritizing their life over the life of a patient who also had a chance of living, or not getting consent from victim’s family.

    • @losos0205
      @losos0205 Před 11 dny +1

No no, it's not like that, I believe. He wasn't harvesting those organs for his wife (cuz really, how many organs does one person need?). He was in charge of transplantation of organs from brain dead patients, and he had to ask for consent of their family members. But not everyone agreed, so he pushed through and tried to logically explain why he needs those organs and that those will basically save so many other lives! It's logical, why can't they understand?
But then his family got into the accident, his kids died and his wife became brain-dead. And that's when he finally realised why those people were against transplantations. He finally understood how hard it was to give up, to literally KILL your family member, for some random peoples life, whose faces you won't even see. He tried his best, to keep her alive but... to no success obviously... And so he himself began seeing those transplantations not like operations, but like murders
I doubt he would harvest organs illegally, to save her, cuz u know. Why would he? If he needed an organ to save her, he would make a request like for any other patient, no??

absolutely. It’s shaken up Milgram so much that you can’t have a single interrogation without her or what she did being brought up. You have people who are terrified of her and of what Milgram has become. We have some who have now come to despise us (ES) for the authority we unintentionally gave her or the voting choices we decided and even those who were voted innocent have made it a point to tell us they wouldn’t want to be her friend or enemy and that she’s becoming a problem. Even if we as individuals find her reasoning valid or want to forgive her, her mind has become corrupt with getting “justice.” I’m convinced that if she could she’d even take our position as warden because her having been voted innocent (or forgiven) has solidified those ideals. Honestly it’s terrifying just how much chaos is consuming Milgram.

There's been numerous hints of a very paper thin fourth wall; as early as Mu's first trial she asked Es why it seemed like he was treating his own thoughts/reasoning like someone else's which caused him to spiral (until Jackalope walked in and the two seemed to mysteriously forget the conversation). I do think they're also responding to overall community feedback rather than just our votes. Obviously some of us have conflicting theories, but a lot of hints have been dropped (Jackalope questioning our reasoning at the end of the first trial, the specific reasons being given relating to the community discussion, etc.) that they're at least taking inspiration from comments and such. I suspect the voices the other prisoners heard were us too (especially with things like Fuuta talking about how he can tell they're enjoying watching the prisoners and the like).
My guess (with much less evidence to support it) is this is some kind of afterlife situation and Milgram has humanity (us) decide where different people go. Presumably "death" in this context would just be the cessation of your soul's existence idk.

And I feel like it’s not very morally gray if he had full permission to take the organs and use them on his wife/child/whoever. It could be that he was purposefully letting the patients fall into braindead states, as suggested by Es mentioning Shidou’s intentions? It seems there are some disagreements on what exactly he did. This makes me very confused as well intrigued.
-He said that he did for scientific purpose.
-He said he remembers very well article 105 because it let a impact in him. Why?
His wife protect him? I was thinking that he maybe steal organs for one of his children (another theory I saw in Twitter). But then, what happened? In the mv he said also that no matter what he do they will never comeback. So I wonder if the organs things happened after or before of whatever happened to his family. If it was before then maybe it was for one of his children (probably the one who he did gave one of those cards in the mv). Also that would explain why his wife protected him (and why he knows about article 105), because everything was for their child. If it was after... What was trying? Also, this conversation with Es makes me think that Shidou had been in the same place that the families of his patients. Maybe his son or the whole family died and he had to decide whether to donate the organs and at that moment he saw that it was not as easy a decision as he thought before.
I still don't buy completely the theory of something happened to his whole family because although he said they would never come back that doesn't mean that they are dead (at least not everybody). Sometimes the family can't deal with the death of a family member, sometimes parents can't deal with the death of one of their children and that drift them apart

Some thoughts: According to what other people have brought up, Aesclepius was a god in mythology known for his healing abilities and was killed for raising people from the dead. Shidou says that he also killed for scientific reasons here, and in his first voice drama, Molech, he said that he killed so many people for such a selfish reason.
If he did just transplant organs for the sake of helping other people, I doubt he would say these things. He’s obviously not telling Es something (not entirely sure why since Yuno proved that Milgram doesn’t prevent the prisoners from explicitly saying exactly what they did, but it is what it is.) I think he might have tried experimenting with ways to reverse death or revive patients in untreatable conditions in order to see his family again after their apparent accident. He obviously didn’t succeed, so he ended up transplanting organs for nothing and didn’t save anyone.
(If your response is “Stealing organs is impossible,” I don’t think everything needs to be 100% realistic in fiction, and perhaps he was able to experiment without having to steal. It doesn’t make sense to me for him to feel this way if he is just concerned about the ethics of organ transplanting itself.)

I think it could be transplanting organs into a loved one under brain death to keep them alive, so his principles fall apart because now he 1) can no longer see brain dead patients as effectively dead 2) is actively using the organs from people he used to view as no longer needing them, on someone who by his definition also no longer needs them. so if his former definition was right, his actions would be wasting the transplant on his loved one. if his former definition was wrong, his former actions would be murder. all loss situation

Amane's cult is against medicinal treatment, furthermore it is implied that the reason she was "punished" is precisely for trying to heal her friend. So it is logical that she has an aberration towards doctors, probably under the scoop that "only God can heal and anyone else who tries to do that is a sinner".
But yes, it makes more sense for that to be express in Amane's interrogation, since she is the one with the problem, and it is related to her murder.

It's hard to imagine Shidou gets anything other then 3 innocents but if I had to guess what would potentially get him a guilty in the 3rd round is if he does something crazy like take an eyeball or an organ from Kotoko (assuming she is found guilty in the 2nd trial which based on her actions I don't see how she doesn't) in order to give Futa a new eye or to save another prisoner. Although I have a feeling that there are at least 3 other people who will either attempt or cheer on her death if she is found guilty. I'm sure an unbound evil Mikoto would love to have another bout with her especially if she can't do anything.

Atone for your sins in life, atone by saving others, atone by being for them when they need you, just like how Futa and Mahiru now need you and atone by carrying the burden you have. We have judged you innocent again, take up your sins and live with them, there is no easy way out for you, we wont allow it. Also thank you for saving them.

He's too precious and totally confused, if it wasn't for what happened to his wife (edit: Or a family member), he wouldn't have directly/indirectly "murdered" all due to revenge or for violent reasons. The thing is, he knows he's in the wrong. I wanted to vote him GUILTY only to make him happy, but he 100% deserves the INNOCENT so I just did. But it's still sad to think that the reason why he still wanted to live was just for the sake of saving the lives of potential victims of whoever will go feral next after the 2nd trial, if there was no brawl and no one had gotten hurt, he would've found his life meaningless. Hopefully after the MILGRAM ends, this changed something good and positive to Shidou.

I think the whole thing about Shidou's eyes is the fact that he realised that the prisoners in Milgram actually needed him for once, because during trial 1 he felt dead inside because of the loss of his family - he felt like he was needed as a father or a husband. and therefore was not needed for anything else. Now his eyes have come alive is because he's remembered he still has a purpose as the sole doctor in Milgram, so he's now more focused on the lives of others because he's found someone to care about, someone who hasn't died yet.

    My (somewhat wacky) theory:
The "cards of promise he discarded" (lyrics from the MV), are his family's organ donor cards (Likely only his wife's, since I don't think children can have them).
That is his "crime". When his wife was declared braindead after the accident, he was now faced with the difficult choice he presented to patient's families all the time in his line of work.
Instead of letting other sick patients have his wife's organs, per her wishes, he selfishly let them rot (We can see some rotting fruit in the MV as well).
His "murders" are those patients his wife's orangs could have saved.
Indulging this theory for a moment, would you vote him differently?

like there are so many nuanced crimes and stories based on ethical issues from Japan presented in Milgram, (some of which the "murders" wouldn't be considered murders OR crimes in the judicial system) and the thing a lot of people landed on was "yep, mans stole organs to frankenstien his wife back together"
