This was a brilliant little film that's introduced me to an interesting brand for the first time! Job well done

Brilliant story of why. My view is that every ride is an adventure. After I watched this I thought that your business is an adventure just like cycling itself.
El Jardinerito, the little gardener. I remember listening to the radio broadcast of Carlos Arturo Rueda C. narrating the feat of Lucho Herrera in the Tour de France. July 13, 1985.
i can’t help but wonder if the earlier members of rapha cc feel that the soul of the brand has diminished since they sold most of the company to Walmart brothers a few years ago
Spain, think about Spain. Here in Asturias, north coast. Full of enthusasts of cycling and Rapha culture. Most beautiful road you've ever imagin. Thousands of cyclists. Try with a pop up store or somethig. Here I am to help with whatever you may need.
I think you need to seriously consider it, with the TDF grand depart, the tour de Yorkshire and now the UCI worlds in 2018 Yorkshire is a prime target for it surely :)!
You are talking about experience. I have a suggestion for all rapha guys. Go through the online repair process with an iPad. Have fun. That experience you won‘t miss.
Paying twice as much for a garment doesn't make my cycling experience any better. It doesn't make me push myself any harder or go any faster. It just leaves me with less money in my wallet that could be better spent on other cycling related needs.
Grt Vid, Super product, awesome ethos. Was it a conscious decision to allow so many cyclists not wear helmets. It's not a criticism just an observation.
What specifically is the Why though? Didn’t here it expressly articulated. Was it “Make people’s lives better when they really get into it.”? Can see the How and the What, but want to understand my gap.
Mate, if you're only making $300 a year then you've got bigger problems than buying jackets. Get over the price argument, it's not valid. Assos - $599 for a jacket and it's on a par with Rapha. Knicks - what are a pair of Rapha knicks worth? $250? And you'll pay more for Assos or one of the Insta-brands. The price argument just doesn't hold water. If you want cheap stuff that looks like crap then just buy that and be happy. And while you're at it, you might want to find another job - one that pays more than a few hundred bucks a year mate!
Completely agree. It seems that we have a choice - fantastic technological clothing from Assos, but with fairly dull designs OR great design from Rapha, but with fairly middling technology. Luckily there are now many more great brands out there - like Q36.5 etc.
I havent had so much experience with Rapha, but Assos really seems like out-of this-world Swiss technology. Attention to details is unreal, especially on their waterproof clothing, also have you see how they stitch the padding? I however wouldnt buy nor Rapha nor Assos, if Ill feel bad after leaving parts of it on the pavement (or in a washing maschine) after a crash its a dumb investment. The highest it is rational to pay, in my opinion is Castelli.
An item that does exactly what it claims it will do, is made to the highest standard, supports my healthy lifestyle and provides service quite litterally for years can never be called a 'dumb investment'. Say that after lavishing the products with praise is just infantile.
Rapha brand is carefully cultivated. Sky served its purpose, but now that Rapha is so well known, its brand might be imperiled by association with a team, any team. Think of Jiffy bags, salbutamol... It doesn't take much to undo years of careful marketing work.
Shame that a video like this only brings out the knockers and safety nazis. Why don't they wear helmets. Why is the gear so expensive. Companies like Rapha have raised the profile of cycling and showed there is more to it than sport or commuting. If they happen to make shitload of money along the way then good luck to them. I don't own a single Rapha product but harbour no envy or judgemental condescension to those who do.
@@thechrisgoor that's not really a conversation for the comments section of youtube. Go back and watch the early videos where heritage, tradition, road racing and the beauty of suffering was the focus and compare that to now. Not only has there been a shift in ownership and style, that many love, there's also been an attitude change. That's a rabbit hole i'm not going down. For me maybe it's just the generational shift that's lost me....i'm to old to be one of the cool kids...
do you wear a helmet when cooking in your kitchen, whilst in the car, or walking about because you are more likely to sustain a head injury when doing those activities....Of course you don't because you're a follower of fashion , a cultural pawn and a sheep. Baaa.. Cycling is a safe activity statistically speaking, now take your blinkers elsewhere. Not to mention that folk wearing helmets are often taking a lot more risks than those riding sensibly. Polystyrene helmets have a rather pathetic and very narrow parameters within which they actually provide any 'safety' or protection. circa 10 mph rider speed and only against flat surfaces devoid of any inherent velocity. That's probably less than 1% of anyone's actual riding time spent upon a bicycle.
*yawn* rapha has come a long way and power to them but lets face it, the bottom line - its another "premium brand" that dentists sink their money in and has virtually nothing in common with the values shared in this video

I'm new to cycling and I'm new to Rapha and I can say I starting to like more and more the brand. Well done to the team. I love my new Rapha Gear
This channel is AMAZING!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Love the line "that's what the innovator says to themselves as well"
I love you guys. Thank you for a fresh voice.

your work is exceptional Simon
Me ha encantado el vídeo, me encanta la ropa Rapha, seguid así.
Cycling, whisky, food , music and bass guitar. My passions. Jaco Pastorius at 2.26. Love it 🥃🏴👍
Lovely to see Lucho Herrera there as an inspiration at 1:33. Cheers from Colombia.
Amo Rapha, saludos desde Medellín Colombia.....
2.25 picture of Jaco. Class. Another good video, cheers
I love rapha :) beautiful products, amazing company.
i can’t help but wonder if the earlier members of rapha cc feel that the soul of the brand has diminished since they sold most of the company to Walmart brothers a few years ago
love this.
So good!
how do they film some of those biking shots? they're so steady!
The best why in the world.
Class.

Are you planning to release something based on "el jardinerito"?
i wish we have Rapha™ here in the philippines :)
Rapha/SImon How can you make Rapha commercialize in Chile? Happy 2017!
Nice.
Bello e inspirador su trabajo... un poco más en español... que no todos hablamos otros idiomas, aunque nuestro lenguaje es la bici
Rapha/SImon are you planning to open a Rapha club shop in Yorkshire?! Cheers!
No plans at the moment, Craig. Keep an eye out here for all the latest openings: rapha.cc/stores

See if you can take over the cafe from Nora Batty now she's dead.
very good, stylish

Can’t afford to drive. I’ve heard that one before. If it wasn’t for cycling, I would be dead by now. ❤️ cycling
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Makes your wallet lighter which makes you faster lol
Best customer service ever! I crashed, tore shirt and bibs, got bibs repaired for free and 40% off new shirt, which wasn't repairable!
Medium Rick twice the price if what? It's the same price as all the other premium cycling labels. I feel like you're just speaking out your arse here.
Some people love to talk to hear themselves say absolutely nothing.
You payed for this movie
Cool
i wish rapha had club house in Hong Kong
So funny cuz my name is rapha :) hehe.. Love the brand
Grt Vid, Super product, awesome ethos. Was it a conscious decision to allow so many cyclists not wear helmets. It's not a criticism just an observation.
Is it on purpose that nobody has a helmet ?
Yes
Someone been watching Simon sinek
2:00 - bought my first Rapha products from Condor.
Boñita, like all of the Rapha films...
I want to become part of the club and also share my story of being cyclist in the Philippines X Commuter.
I wish rapha also have in asia especially Philippines there are lot of passionated here.
What specifically is the Why though? Didn’t here it expressly articulated. Was it “Make people’s lives better when they really get into it.”?
Can see the How and the What, but want to understand my gap.
What do you do? I have no idea what this video is about...
Derbyshire needs a clubhouse 👍
An history .... made in China ....
Yann Nguyen I don't mind paying premium prices for premium goods. I won't pay premium for Made in China
Cant afford to drive a car. Seriously. I should spend my annual salary to buy one of your jackets.

Kim Roberts Assos seems more techonogically advanced than Rapha but I dislike their design.
Completely agree. It seems that we have a choice - fantastic technological clothing from Assos, but with fairly dull designs OR great design from Rapha, but with fairly middling technology. Luckily there are now many more great brands out there - like Q36.5 etc.

Du bist ja echt überall :D
ossilong möglich:)
there are yowamushi pedal figurines, Im surprised 2:23
And now (2022) Simon is no longer CEO. I hope the spirit will carry on. I start my festive 500 tomorrow.
WHY did team sky move to castelli?
I think Rapha ceased the relationship.... not the other way around
Rapha brand is carefully cultivated. Sky served its purpose, but now that Rapha is so well known, its brand might be imperiled by association with a team, any team. Think of Jiffy bags, salbutamol... It doesn't take much to undo years of careful marketing work.
I WANT THAT!!!!!!!! 2:24
i wish rapha had club house in Ukraine
No.
WHY are so many people riding without helmets?!
mann, stop already with the no helmet stuff. everyone in the world is aware ..so let the players ride how everrrrrrr ! stop livin on FEAR ! ! !
i have 3 rules in life . 1. i only drive mercedes 2. i only date models 3. i only wear rapha.

Ffs. Just take my damn money.
Sad to see that such a focused, innovative and unique company has now become a confused directionless mess ....
That's a really interesting thing to say. I'm really interested in understanding brands. Why did you make this comment? Am genuinely interested.

Would be good to feature more riders wearing a helmet....
stfu
Dumme hund
Shame the cyclist in your video aren't wearing helmets.. Very poor PR for Rapha.

You're a fool...
lol, I bet you've only been cycling for less than five years, and all your opinions are culturally derived, and not one by science or logic ?
Oh dear... If only you knew. All the best
kevina6587 don't worry, the Darwin Awards will tell the truth eventually...
Brilliant clothing but so pretentious and yuppieish
Generation hipster 😴
You guys can poop in your expensive caps and then wear them
