    I'm not surprised the English dub of the cartoon series features the same voice acting pool as 4Kids' dubs. When you're at a convention and one of them is on a panel they'll always talk about the weird crap they have to dub outside of anime to pay the bills. One guy went on about having to dub all these weird Turkish Christian soap operas.

      The things voice actors do for a paycheck!

    • @mightyfilm
      @mightyfilm Před 3 lety +41

      It's pretty depressing, actually. It's like when they're booked for conventions they essentially tell everyone to NOT go into the field, but very subtly and nuanced. Basically saying that you don't go in just being an anime dubbing star, you kind of have to do really stupid stuff, and said stupid stuff pays more than the anime gigs do. I forget his name, but the guy who played Jammerhead in TMNT Fast Forward kept telling those stories every time he was booked.

    • @mightyfilm
      @mightyfilm Před 3 lety +18

      In the realm of voice acting, you get what you can get. That's what they always say when they have panels at conventions. It's very competitive and there's always that one guy who can't act that can do like ONE imitation that asks them for advice, and that's when you can tell the union VA's from the non-union VA's. The union guys will always go "sure, follow your dreams," the non-union guys will be like "uhhhhh.... that's...that's cute." And while there are cases of non-union VA's starting out and then becoming bigger names in the dubbing business, there seems to be a fear of going into said unions and not being hired much and losing their lower paying dub work.

    • @mightyfilm
      @mightyfilm Před 3 lety +1

      They were getting some bigger names in the dubbing world at that convention right up until we couldn't have them any more (Max Mittelman was scheduled for last year), so I haven't seen Tom Wayland at one of those in a while. He's the one that usually talks about all the things besides the anime he has to dub and direct. His panels were very interesting, if splashing cold water on wannabe voice actor dreams.

      I don't think the Titanic movies actually fit in with the "Simba Extended Universe" or whatever you wanna call the four shows that comprise it. And yes, there were four. Winner and the Golden Child was actually a crossover between the Simba continuity and-I kid you not-a Sleeping Beauty show.

    That scene where the kid runs into the middle of the road and the dogs play frogger trying to catch up to him and cause a 20 car pileup is seared into my mind lol
    Edit: the dog in the beginning of the video is adorable

    If you're ever interested in jumping down another North Korean-related cinematic hole, you may want to check out "Ten-Zan: The Ultimate Mission", which is a 1987 Italian-North Korean action film directed by Ferdinando Baldi, a veteran director of Italian Westerns and other genre films, stars an international cast featuring Mark Gregory(best known as "Trash" in the "Bronx Warriors" pair of flicks), and shot on location in North Korea. I understand it's outside of your usual fare, but it's available in English on CZcams on the Film and Clips channel, and you may find viewing it as much of a "unique" experience as this is.

      Check out Guy DeLisle’s “Pyongyang”: he’s a Québécois animator who lived in NK for two months to oversee a SEK animation team. He drew and wrote the graphic novel describing his (mis?)adventures, including stuff about his career.

      @@Jude300c I’ve never been, but one would typically go sponsored by either their employer and the NK government jointly, or one of the tour groups approved by the NK government. Most transportation seems to involve flying into Pyongyang from China. It has been possible for US citizens to visit, but I’m not sure if that applies to date.
      As for safety, that’s mostly a given because your movement would be monitored and controlled as much as possible. Guy Delisle basically had to go everywhere with a government-assigned translator and driver. If you’re with a tour group, there’s a set itinerary of activities and visits the government wants you to stick to (picked for propaganda value, like museums about the Korean War). You’re probably safe as long as you don’t get any bright ideas about going out of the hotel on your own, playing any pranks or making clever remarks about NK or the Kim dynasty.
      Oh, and from what I’ve seen/read, it seems to be a tradition to bring a gift for your chaperones (preferably some kind of luxury liquor and/or cigarettes; both North and South Koreans drink like fish and smoke like chimneys).

      @@rezalustig6773 Thanks for sharing that. I imagine the smokes and drink is something the individual can atleast automomous control over.
      Ive looked at pictures and saw that NK is definitely beautiful

    Mondo TV also worked on that animated Titanic movie with talking dolphins and jail house sharks, and a giant octopus with a child's voice.
    13:24- This movie has more ohs and ahs than Matthew Broadrick in Deck the Halls.
    21:26- You finally did it, Phelous! You brought up the "Shut that door!" line from Rapsittie Street Kids! It's a Christmas miracle!
    26:23- I'm now convinced that this was a 2nd grader's fan-fiction.
