Ive definitely been overwatering, but somehow my plant has been going since the 1980's. I guess I need to put it in my will, as it could well outlive me.

Terracotta pots are the way to go with snake plants, they allow moisture to seep through the pots helping to prevent root rot. I tend to shy away from plastic or glazed pots. Just a helpful tip, ♥️.

I'm new to planets and I have a great fear of killing them. However, I bit the bullet and picked up a snake plant. Call him Vern. Got him in the window, watching this video and crossing my fingers in hoping I don't have to conduct a funeral in the up coming months. So, a lot is riding on this video to help me keep Vern alive. So, I'll be checking in from time to, time to re-educate myself on the care and wellbeing of my new buddy VERN!

These plants are one of the easiest to care for. Just move them around until they find a spot they are happy in. Not a difficult plant at all and water from the bottom, let them tell you how much water they want. They also love it outside, so if you have a patio or front yard with some shade, plant them and they will do great. A bit invasive, so they multiply quite a bit, but give you more plants that you can share with family and friends.

I got my grandma’s snake plant that she had for as long as I could remember. It was way over grown to the point it was tried together and leaning against a wall so it wouldn’t fall over. I got in last winter and didn’t want to start cutting it back until summer. The reading I did said not to cut more than 1/3 of the plant. I think I only saving 5-10% of the plant. I split in up into three pots, two of me and one for my mom. I water my two every week maybe two cups of water. They are in bigger pots but I knew they would be in shock. I think that was at the end of June and all of the shoots have new leaving and quite a lot of them.
As winter is coming I probably will go every other week or every 3 weeks with a couple cups water. So far I have had luck with my watering.

I'm a new sub, and I'm window shopping like a fiend perusing your background plants. Love is in the air. Lol. I was gifted my snake plant 8+ years ago from a single stalk and have just done my first version of propagation. Ho-ly- Hell, if my guys survive it'll be despite me not because of me. Lol! I used water heavily during the process in a panic that the roots would get scorch and kill the individual pieces. I worried I had waited too long to separate it and that it was choking out. I left it in the sun too long and it bleached to the palest yellow.Thank goodness this plant is a beast and has been able to withstand my ministrations. I thought this would be a plant able to survive my 5% sun exposure home. Now I feel negligent on that front as well, uuugh! It survived but was it happy?
I love the hints and tips that you show us so we can "listen" to the plant and know what it needs. I've got some vids to check out now so you keep doing you. And thanks for sharing.
