    To me, this is the most difficult movement. Trust me I can do deadlifts, front/back squats, bench press pretty well. I am also very good at power clean. But when it comes to full snatch and overhead squat, I am like a crushed pencil. I think it has some thing to do with my mobility!

    • @hugohamster1
      @hugohamster1 Před 8 lety +1

      Its depending on what is asked: What you do is a power snatch, the "normal" snatch is with the squat. In most of the competitions i've seen it didn't matter which one you chose. The goal was to raise the weight over the head in one move.

    • @khaarlatavoi9050
      @khaarlatavoi9050 Před 5 lety

      I was used to be confused by that too, but I learnt recently at my vox that if it has the word power in it, the lift has no squat. And if it doesn't have the word power, a squat is in there

    Is the squat necessary? Because I can snatch a heavy weight but without the squat because that's the technique I've been taught at the gym so I'm curious?

    • @simonleonard3151
      @simonleonard3151 Před 7 lety +2

      You're kinda confusing a "snatch" and a "power snatch". So let's make it clear: a snatch requires the full squat movement...and is coming from heavy lifting practice. Power snatch, where you actually do not do the squat, comes from crossfit. So if your gym is not a crossfit box, you will never be taught to do a power snatch.

    • @-9119-
      @-9119- Před 6 lety

      Es simple, para levantar mas alto un peso, es mayor la necesidad de fuerza¡¡¡¡¡
      En la Halterofilia lo correcto es que si levantas 100 kgs de power snatch, minimo deberas estar levantando entre un 20 o 30 % en snatch completo, o sea entre 120/130 kgs.

    what kind of shoes should i wear? those look like running shoes, is that okay?

    • @MaxWoudenberg
      @MaxWoudenberg Před 8 lety

      +Veggies and Kilos Running shoes are not optimal for Crossfit because a lot of exercises require you to balance the wight while standing on your heels, and since most running shoes are curved (which improves running capability) this would result in a loss of balance eventually. The shoes that almost every Crossfiter wears are Reebok Nano's (the most recent pair is called Nano 5.0, but any pair will do)! The reason these shoes are so popular is because of the flat sole which improves stability and balance during most of the exercises. Should you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

    • @-9119-
      @-9119- Před 6 lety

      Nooooooo
      Por la carga que se levanta y por el fragil equilibrio sobre los pies, es necesario (de preferencia) usar zapato especializado. Este tiene la caracteristica contraria a un tenis normal, la suela y el tacon son muy duros, esto es para darle soporte a cada hueso, ya que son varios y deben tener movimiento, pero no demasiado.
      por esto mismo tambien estos zapatos traen una correa que afianza mas el empeine¡¡¡¡¡

    • @greg3087
      @greg3087 Před 3 lety

      Zero drop style shoes. Basically not difference between the front of foot and the ground and back of foot and the ground. Typical running shoes have about a 8-10 mm drop in the rear. Zero drop has...well zero. Altra and Topo make zero drop shoes while topo has some with a minimal drop between zero and 5.

      Si quieres aprender de Levantamiento de Pesas, BUSCA EN EL LUGAR CORRECTO, UNA PAGINA DE CROSSFIT ES EL LUGAR MAS EQUIVOCADO PARA APRENDER DE HALTEROFILIA¡¡¡¡¡¡
      La diferencia entre Snatch o Power Snatch es que el primero es el ejercicio completo (o sea, como se practica en las Competencias oficiales de Halterofilia¡¡¡¡)
      El power Snatch es uno de los ejercicios complementarios del Ejercicio Completo. Este entre otras diferencias es que como su nombre lo indica, se utiliza para el desarrollo de la Fuerza y la intencion es realizarlo completamente parado, sin flexionar o no flexionando las rodillas al recibirlo¡¡¡¡

    • @khaarlatavoi9050
      @khaarlatavoi9050 Před 5 lety

      Try dropping under the weight when the bar feels "weightless", which is when the bar feels light when you pull it. Drop under the bar and get into the squat quickly and catch it with strong arms. Try to catch the bar in the squat position instead of standing up and trying to overhead squat it.

      john vines this is technically the only true “snatch” that exists. The power snatch, hang snatch and squat snatch are just terms created by the Crossfit world to build progression to the full snatch. I’m not knocking Crossfit, it’s just a fact. Same goes for the the clean... what Crossfit calls a squat clean is actually just a proper clean.

A severe biomechanical error against the spine when the knees flex more than 90 degrees decreases the dispersion of forces on the lumbar spine.
