      Joshua Rivers name calling and harassing does not justify murder and torture. If you aren’t able to have thick enough skin for it, sure it sucks but that’s life sadly. There are other ways to get around it home school etc. some people are born complete assholes. And some victims do snap and will hurt or kill their bully depending on severity it’s understandable but not acceptable.

      There was this group of girls who constantly tourmented me and other kids. After 8 years of their shit we all came together and told the teachers everything. We had a class meeting and ultimately came to the conclusion that expelling them would be the best option. But my damn mother told the school counseler about what i almost did. For the past year i was planning to do a school shooting or something like that to get back at them. I think mother caught onto my plan because i was watching alot of news outlets on school shootings like Columbine and Parkland. The day before the class meeting about the bullying I told my mother "mom, if I ever do something horrible would you still love me?".
      So we all came to the counsel's room. The bullies said they were sorry and we were forced to accept their "apologies". They weren't expelled and for the most part didnt change much. At first they tried to hide the fact that they still looked down on us but few weeks later she went back to the name calling and rude comments.
      Everyone thinks we're all chill now but I will never forget how much pain and loneliness she caused to me. And the fact that the adults in my life did absolutely nothing except tell me to ignore or let it go made me so angry. I still want to grab a gun or knife and go berserk on them and those fcking adults so bad.

      This is a great movie. But today's bullies are hardhearted, blinded by entitlement and unable to be moved by a movie like this. Everything is a joke to them and they have no conscience. Sometimes I'm not sure if they're even human. I heard about a case where a girl was bullied into committing suicide. The bullies who made her life unbearable thought it was hilarious and even vandalized her tombstone. Even after she was dead because of their actions, they couldn't let her rest in peace. They would pretty much have to go through something like this to get it.

    Speaking as someone who endured bullying from kindergarten to my early 20s , I get the frustration and pain they were in. When all you try to do is live your life and you want to be treated like a human being and all you get is abused and you're tired... there's loads of things you'll do. There's nothing more dangerous than someone who feels like they have nothing to lose. By the time you realize they have nothing to lose it's too late. Be careful how you treat people. @luke collett no it’s not a rite of passage or acceptable to bully anyone. These acts of murder and torture happen because the powers that be are too lazy and incompetent to do something about it. It’s like someone beats the crap out of you doing permanent damage and all the bullies get is a 3 day suspension which is as good as a holiday to a bully when there should be definite time in jail. A bushfire gets bigger when a fuel source is added to it or if they don’t remove the fuel source and if left to burn its gets very difficult to stop, it’s the same with bullying, matters like this need to be addressed quickly before it gets too bad, the law doesn’t do a good job of defending the rights of the abused, That needs to change.
      My opinion is people get bullied every day. No one deserves to be beaten every day and as the law says Teachers don’t have to interfere in bullying cases which is ridiculously stupid because what they are saying is defend yourself because we won’t defend you. No one in their right mind will lie down and say YOU CAN BULLY ME THATS FINE WITH ME. I thought that to an American, if your life is in danger, kill them.

      The ginger was unable to hurt her friend physically, but was perfectly able and willing to hurt another person psychologically, which is the point of the scene. I don't think most people understand psychological pain -- it hurts forever -- you can't medicate it away, like you can with physical pain, and it is much more difficult to heal from.

      If I remember correctly, Curtis (the black guy) wasn't actually a bully, and had actually stood up to the bullies in the cafeteria for the sake of those soon to take revenge. As for Bridget (the ginger girl), there a couple of quick shots earlier in the film where she looks distinctly uncomfortable with what her bullying friends are doing. She isn't innocent, but I think the filmmakers wanted to portray her as a lighter shade of black or someone who actually could change.

    Something that always annoyed me was the 'victims' motivations to torture the bullies. From what we can see earlier in the movie, the bullies weren't doing anything major to them. They weren't physically beating them, they didn't threaten violence, they sure as hell never bothered them outside of school. Sure, it must have been degrading for the 'victims', to be told that they're ugly and having paper air planes thrown at them. But ffs. If you're going to make the 'victims' motivations actually realistic, then have the bullies act more disgusting towards the beginning. Have them try to cut the girl's hair, have them beat the 'victims' up, have them use death threats and make it so that wherever the 'victims' go, the bullies follow them. It wouldn't make me sympathise with these crazy fuckers, but it would at least give them stronger reasons to do this.
    Edit: it’s been years since I made this comment, but wow lol. The amount of deranged people calling me a bully or saying that the bullies deserved their treatment is actually what I’m talking about. I was a victim of extreme bullying and SA from my bullies when I was younger, and yet I still have morals. Shocking, I know. To have people assume what I experienced because I’m a decent person is sick behaviour. Get help, spiritualelement575, and JC-ip8ur. You’re both worse than bullies if you still hold these beliefs.

That's punk shit period. Some big jock man handling someone who doesn't party/play sports/do drugs etc. This shit is real. Bullies wouldn't dare break a popular person's camera. Bullies prey on easy targets cause they're scaired of challenges. It's kinda like when have you seen a 5'6 guy rob a 6'3 guy? But how many elders/and or small frame people get robbed? Man goes for easy quick tragets. Any threat can cost them their life/or harm and they know that. This why they target these types.

      Did you not watch the movie? They beat both Ravi and Dane on camera. This movie has plenty of flaws, but the torture Bradley got was completely earned and in general the motivation is there. The weak point is with Kurtis. They drugged everyone and easily could have removed him from the party. There was no reason to keep him there and everyone should have teamed up against Dane to get Kurtis out when they had a chance. The entire situation with Kurtis is what weakened the second half of the film.

  • @DaDitka
    @DaDitka Před 2 lety +2

    A few observations, for what they are worth-
    1) I am reminded of a quote from the German philosopher Fredrich Nietzche who said, "He who would fight monsters, take heed lest he become a monster... when you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you." The problem that I am having an honest time figuring out is whether the outcasts were monsters all this time and it just took the actions of the bullies to bring it out, or were the outcasts just trying to live their lives and they became monsters because of the actions of the bullies, or did they allow themselves to become monsters like the ones who bullied them. Perhaps there is some truth in every point. At what point did the outcasts look into the abyss and decide that they were the very monsters that they were fighting against? Or were they even monsters in the first place?
    2) Another question that I am having is exactly what SHOULD the outcasts have done to fight against the bullies. While from an emotional standpoint I will admit to a level of gross satisfaction as to what they did to the bullies, from a reasonable standpoint I cannot justify what they did (those of you who wish to criticize me or condemn me for saying what I said can go pound sand; I am merely being honest, and if you don't like honesty, there are a lot of beaches in the world that you can go to and take my advice). There has to be a balance between not allowing the bullies to run roughshod over you any time they wish, and bringing a gun to a proverbial fistfight. I have no problem with the outcasts getting payback, but the amount they paid was a whole lot more than the bill, if you get my meaning.
    3) A movie like this should serve as a warning to ALL of us. Going back to point #1, while I do not know everyone's experience, I do know the human condition (I am a human like you), and it is a fine line that one can cross from being a person to being a devil or a beast. Whether you are one of the outcasts or one of the bullies, it only takes a little bit to push you out of the light and into the darkness. And it is far more difficult to be kind than to be cruel, generally speaking.
    As I said, take what I say for what it's worth. Maybe it isn't worth much, and that's fine if it isn't. I wish all of you well.
