  • 🌟 Life-Saving Interventions in Applied Behavior Analysis WIth My Own Son 🌟
In Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), our goal is to improve lives safely and ethically. Faced with severe behaviors like running into the street, our approach is measured and deeply considerate.
    🔍 *Intensive Assessment First* 🔍
Every intervention begins with an in-depth assessment to understand the "why" behind the behavior. It's crucial to ensure that any strategy we employ is both effective and respectful to the individual.
🌱 *Prioritizing Least Restrictive Procedures* 🌱
Our initial strategies are always reinforcement-based, focusing on positive behavior support. We exhaust every possible avenue of positive intervention, aiming to enhance safety without limiting personal freedom.
🚨 *Considering Punishment as a Last Resort* 🚨
When life-threatening behaviors persist, and only after thorough assessment and least restrictive measures, we may consider more direct interventions to decrease dangerous behaviors. This is not about harm but about safeguarding lives. For instance, implementing a carefully designed intervention to prevent a child from running into the street can be lifesaving. This process involves ethical rigor, multidisciplinary collaboration, and continuous reassessment to ensure the child's dignity and safety.
    💡 *The Impact* 💡
Such a balanced, ethical approach has proven essential in protecting individuals. In one notable case, it was the decisive factor in saving a young child's life from the dangers of running into the street. This intervention wasn't just about stopping a behavior; it was about teaching safer, alternative behaviors, ensuring the child's safety and providing peace of mind to their family.

Great content to learn! That intermittent schedule was perfect for his dislike of unpredictability.
I think another important point to make, is to not intermittently reinforce the problem behavior, as that could make it much more resistant. Consistency is key!
