We may only have 15million here in the US, however, Volkswagen Beetle production hit a major milestone on February 17, 1972 by producing the 15,007,034th Type 1 Beetle thus surpassing the Ford Model T as the most produced single model in world history. Total production topped out in 2003 at the Puebla, Mexico plant with car 21,529,464.

Enjoyed your very well illustrated report, and I am completely agree with your stand point, But,
Next to restoration values, there remain one thing, and that next to a market value, there is one value, called sentimental value, and that my friend is for each person a nearly un payable value.
I do own a restored Model A, 1930, that my grandfather during my youth always talked about and his brother was the local ~Ford dealer here on the island of curaçao.
When I got the opportunity to purchase back this model A and put this vehicle 100% back in its original shape as back then, the old man keeps living for us, in our hart for many years.
Now, the top job you did on that model T of yours, I am more than convinced, that you should have a great amount of satisfaction of a job darn well done, as I followed all you videos and you are a very well mechanic/ restorer, you should be very proud to be able to achieve such a well done job, both on the model T and beetle.
I also learned a lot from your way of working, and how you go down to the last screw to fix this.
Markt value, yes you are right, but if you get a person like me, that purchase or look for an item that will have sentimental value, there is where market value will be as a plat form to work up to a decent selling price. Your model T or VW, I would purchase these with closed eyes, sitting here from my study and wire transfer you the selling price, because you are a correct and no nonsense person.
My sincerely compliments to the, you tube footages, the contents of all your remodeling sessions, job well done.👍🏼🇺🇸🤝

And it made a lot of money for You, And probably will pay for itself one day soon, It`s Your CZcams Star! I know many Men who sold their Model T`s and now say they would like to kick themselves in the ass for doing so! I traded a 1930 Model A Ford chassis for a 1915 REO! And as unique as The Reo is, I wish I had NEVER Traded it off! It is now a BEAUTIFUL Roadster! Rumble seat at that! I WOULD KILL TO HAVE IT BACK!

I've seen probably thousands of VW Beetles in my time yet I've never seen a single Model T. The fact that I'm in the UK might have something to do with that. In fact, I didn't even know what a model T looked like, until today. I'd heard the name but had never clapped eyes on one. But, due to this series, I now know the model T inside out. I just watched the entire playlist from the begining. So glad you've made something back from it and it's now three years on. I'm hoping you may have even made your money back on the car.
It really did surprise me how little value the model T has. Especially since I've still never seen one in the flesh. So it's only natural that I'd have thought they're quite rare.

Jared, thanks for the interesting analysis! I am not surprised at the vehicle costs and values as I have restored 5 Corvairs! I totally agree that knowing the potential end value is critical so you don't go crazy in the restoration process. I believe in the Jay Leno school of car restoration dangerous thinking "buy a car for 15k, invest $50k and sell it for $25k"!!
What I am really amazed at is the CZcams revenue numbers. Wow, so low! But it does mirror what I have heard from other content creators.
To me, I work on my cars for the personal challenge and satisfaction of accomplishment. I assume the motivation is similar for you.
I really appreciate your sharing of your work and achievements. I think the knowledge you bring to your viewers is fantastic. Thanks!
One additional comment, I use the Hagerty value system as well, but temper it with the reality that the cars are really only worth what you can get somebody to pay for them. The Hagerty values are very helpful though for insurance purposes to make sure you don't over or under insure your investment. Of course the amount of hours and work you put into them is not adequately represented but that's just the way it is!
Thanks again and I'll keep watching!

As I expressed in one of your videos, I'm glad you didn't paint the T. It adds character to the car by showing its well deserved patina. I really hope you make enough ad revenue to pay for the car eventually. Although Ford made 15 million model T's, not all of those still exist. However, there's still a lot to go around. Personally, I think people are asking too much for them. Thank God I bought my 1960 Chevy pickup when they were still cheap. My truck is restored and now worth a fortune, although I will never sell it and will hand it down to my son.

FYI the reason that we are not running over with old Model T's (there were over 15 million made) is
1.) Even during it's production run Ford had a "buy back" program where he would buy older models and recycle them in the blast furnaces to make new little Ford Model T's
2.) During the depression thousands of cars that no one could afford anymore were put in landfills.
3.) During World War Two scrap metal of any type (and that includes old Model T's) was melted down for the war effort.
I think that one of the reasons that the Model T's aren't worth as much as the VW Bug is they aren't really as road worthy as the bug.
I mean a vehicle that struggles to go 45 mph just ain't popular on the interstate although a bug may not do much better they are a little bit newer.

Thanks for the very informative video. Being one of those "life long gear heads" (always took my new toys apart to see how they worked instead of "playing" with them), I treat the kind of thing you, and I, are doing as a "hobby". There's no getting around the significant amount of WORK that is involved in doing this. The "difference", however, is that WORK is not always a "four letter word"!! In my case, and I suspect yours as well, I suspect the "work" expended is enjoyable and quite satisfying!! In my seven plus decades, I have found very few things as satisfying as what comes from being "creative" which brings us right back to that four letter word, "WORK".
That said, I treat the work and the financial/cost considerations as a "hobby" cost instead of as a cost/profit/gain analysis. There are precious few "hobbies" that result in financial gain. Most all "hobbies" come with a cost. Some much higher than others of course. Even simply being a "sports" fan can get "pricey" unless you spend all of your "fan" time in front of your home TV!!! Even that, these days comes with what can be a hefty price tag with all the "digital" charges!!!

Saying the classic bug was built from 38 to 03 is kinda weird. While technically correct, the first bugs were like preproduction cars, built for high ranking German officers. Later in the fifties, volkswagen began and started making those cars off of the plans until 79 when they discontinued the air-cooled cars, but Mexican and Brazilian factories kept making them to 03

Some correction on the numbers of the Beetle: The overall production number until 2003 for the old Beeetle was 21.5 million, where 15.8 million where German production (Wolfsburg - end of production 1974 and Emden - end of production 1978), the rest was made in Mexico. On 17th February 1972 th 15,007,034 mil. beetle was produced and took over the Model T record. So just 34 years instead of your mentioned 65 years. But still a great record by the T, historically seen. 😉

A couple of disagreements about the availability of each car. The model t was mad before WW2 so many of them were probably lost in metal scrap drives for the war effort. The beetle's production numbers were probably 1/2 of them produced after the world wars. Therefore, the beetle should be much more available at this time.

I LOVE Your Cars! The Model T has a Special place in My Heart, Because it is AWESOME to See Someone as Young and Talented as You save a BEAUTIFUL 1920`s Car! They stopped building the VW Bug I believe in the early 1980`s than came back out with a totally different version I DID NOT LIKE AT ALL around the early 2000`s! Sadly a lot of Model T Fords were Hot Rodded, And or tossed away! But they were Reliable and Survived a WW2 Metal Drives when new cars were not being Manufactured, Folks hang on to them. And they were cheep of gas! Sometimes! I love the Original VW`s 1938 to 1982! But I LOVE Model T Fords! You got Your Coils CHEEP! Mine cost #$80+ each! I am going to get a Rocky Mountain Breaks on Mine because I live around a few hills I would like to drive down, My other Model T is a Touring, And it does not have issues on Hills, But I want to be on the safe side with My 1923 Sedan! My very Good Friend Mick Hartmann makes the High Speed Rear-end Gears for the Model TT Trucks, And these Have NO Hill climbing issues! His TT Truck will do 45 Comfortably! I stil;l See Model T Fords around here on the road today! I LOVE IT!

Toyota Cor!olla 44 million (Wikipedia) but so many model years that the T and the Beetle are a greater achievement IMHO

Excellent breakdown of the projects and I also joined your channel because of the model "T" and will continue to follow the video's in the future. If you were to add your labor costs at todays rate, the model "T"s overall value (as you stated) may never be recovered. Just your personnel achievement should be the overall value and satisfaction!
Two quick question for anyone watching, I assume you put lead additive into the fuel for both cars, but how high of an octane do you use? Do you use antifreeze in the model "T" coolant system?

The amount of work you have to do is humongous and that means sweat equity, time and financial investment. Very hard for what CZcams pays to even recoup your investment. We sort of knew that, now it’s confirmed. That’s why we thank you for your work just for our entertainment.

Thanks for sharing some numbers. It's about where I thought it would be for the T. (I haven't seen the Bug series yet.) I've often wondered if I'd have the personality and stick-tuit-ivness to do a channel. It looks like a lot of hard work! I like how you get tasks done in an expedient way without a lot of chitchat. Often a new channel will struggle because the host runs out of engaging content and starts milking the same old project without much progress. I see that you are continually searching for and acquiring more cars to keep the channel fresh. I rather like the affordable mass production stuff myself. At some point you'll want to judge each new subject more on how much fun it will be and entertaining for viewers than how much financial sense the project makes. The CZcams revenue will help tilt the scale as it started to do with the T. If I see an Amphicar basketcase I'll let you know, haha.

Over the decades rust, crashes, death, lack of interest and other reasons, cars are lost never to return- so saying there are 15 million of these cars is way off. People estimate there are about 10 thousand T's still around and about 200 thousand type 1 beetles. Big difference. But understandable since the last model T was built 84 years ago.

Hi Jared, what is the height of your Model T?
My garage opening is 80". Thinking a Fordor might be too tall. Have heard other T owners talking about the the height of their cars being around 76" or so.

1:41 Sorry for correcting you, but VW hit the 15.4 Million in 1972 and had beaten the T Modell as the most build car.
The production ended in 2003 in Mexico and they actually made 21 Milloine Beetle. Lots of them were sold in Mexco but also in Brasil.
Nowadays VW claims the VW Golf was sold more often, but there are 7 ir 8 different models of it while the beetle and the T model wasn't changed that much over the years.
