Before it was tragically patched out, an error in an update caused Greasus Goldtooth, the colossally fat Ogre Legendary Lord to move at 400 speed.
For reference, the fastest baseline unit is, if memory serves, the Phoenix at 120 speed.
So for a few glorious days, we had Greasus Lightning rocketing around the battlefield plowing through everything in his path at speeds that would make Sonic the Hedgehog green with envy.

Funny things the changeling have done. He prank Khorne by setting a nurgling on his throne to act like a whoopee cushion. He also he stole the silver apples of knowledge from Slaanesh's palace only to drop in Nurgle garden, cut away Slaanesh's hair while the Dark Prince slept, and from it wove a cloak, but my favorite prank he did tho is when he sealed the doors of Khorne's Brass Citadel while he was away campaigning, forcing the Blood God to shatter his own proud gates when he returned.

For a short explanation the weird tornado thing you saw is called the great vortex its in the middle of ulthuan the high elves place, the vortex is created by the elves to siphon excess magic from the mortal world to lessen demon incursions and mutations so it is very important for everyone 😅

    • @nesnahprotsdam

To add on to that: Without the great vortex, the mortal world would have been consumed by chaos ages ago. There's a bunch of the most powerful high elven archmages to ever exist, trapped inside that vortex, forced to keep the ritual up for eternity.

Diplomacy does exist in all the games. One neat thing that was added in game three though was that being allied to someone would let you build points with them. You can then use those to hire a few of their factions units for your armies (that go away if the alliance breaks) or gain control of an entire army of theirs for a few turns. It gives a real reason (other than just not wanting to fight them) to pursue alliances.

So I see nobody explaining the "Daniel" part.
When the customizable lord (The godslayer - who is Yuri from the game trailer you said looked like a movie) was announced and first showcased the guy that showcased the lord was talking about how you could name him different names, and as he did so he took different names such as Azgoth the slayer, etc, etc until finally settling on "Daniel" The community ran with it because it was funny and now the Godslayer's "Canon" name by many is Daniel the Daemon.
And just in case people never explained, Daniel is one of the champions of chaos capable of recruiting demons from every demon faction, and a unique thing about him being that he has no limit to just how many demons he can recruit unlike other unaligned Champions of Chaos such as Archaon the Everchosen.

Be'lakor is the first Daemon Prince and for a time was the only one but his success saw the spread of Chaos and more servants to the flocked to the Gods. Be'Lakor was also growing too big for his britches and wanted to become a god too. But his success was double edged sword, he lost favor with the Gods and some of his power was given to other new and more loyal Champions and Princes. Also as a last F*** you from the Gods he is also forced to crown the Everchosen of Chaos and be his advisor against his will. Everchosen is the top leader of Chaos forces like Horus and Abbadon as Warmaster in 40k.

Ok, let me talk you about a couple of things, the first is the winged demon woman you've seen getting surrounded and then rampaging: Valkia the Bloody.
Valkia used to be a mortal queen... of the worst kind... she was violent, cruel, oppressive and, in general, what you can imagine a murder-hobo cross between Xena and the Queen of Hearts... so cruel that she was murdered by her own court.
But one does not spend a life swimming in blood without drawing the attention of a certain someone...
Khorne LOVED her and so he resuscitated her as his WIFE.
You noticed her rather organic looking shield with a slaaneshi symbol on it?
Once a slaaneshi demon prince mocked her, claiming that she was more fit for his bedchambers rather than the battlefield... so she slaughtered him and ripped off his still living face, affixing it to her shield.
    She's badassery at its finest.
The second thing are ogres... I LOVE ogres, my first codex was the ogre codex from when they were still grey, instead of being human-skinned.
Ogres are gigantic huns coming from one of the most hostile and cruel environment in the world, an endless rocky desert. They forged their whole culture on OBESITY.
You know how in primitive cultures overweight was a sign of health? Basically the same, but on steroids.
Their entire life is spent ransacking and eating in an attempt not only to survive, but to THRIVE!
Their god is the Great Maw, a literal hole in the ground: a crater caused by a warp-infused meteorite that mutated even the ground surrounding it, turning the soil in an endless orgain hole lined with spear sized razor-sharp teeth.
Every time they set camp, they dig a hole in the ground, line it with blades and throw part of their meals in it so the Great Maw can feed whenever they are. Their mages are literal butcher, channelling their magic by eating things and since they want to be sure they'll be able to eat whatever is required to cast their spells that they rip their teeth out of their gums, only to replace them with nails and rock shards.
You know the gigantic dude eating in the middle of the battle?
That's Greasus Goltooth, the ogre ruler. Remember how Grom the Paunch was the goblin who got so fat and powerful that he could afford to order other goblin around to watch his feet?
Greasus is so fat and powerful that he probably hasn't touched ground in DECADES, he has a small horde of gnoblars (basically goblins, but for ogres) that he forces to carry him, his throne, his treasure and his banquet around the battlefield.
Imagine a 5m tall beached whale of a man forcing a small army of less than 1m tall green monkeys to carry him AND HIS STUFF around 24/7... while also occasionally snacking on one of them when he feels like it.
    Ogres are terrifying and awesome.

Harald Hammerstorm is affectionately known by the warhammer community as Harry the Hammer, and he carries THE original Warhammer both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K get their name from, The one Karl Franz wields was introduced later.
He hates the undead, and he loves killing the undead. In his long campaign as a champion of Chaos he became so infamous for killing the undead, that the the undead, normally completely immune to psychology because they're undead puppets controlled by necromantic magic, somehow became afraid of the guy. Nobody hammers quite like Harry.

    Alright Round 3!
Kislev led by Tzarina Katarina and the Grand patriarch Kostaltyn is Russia and Poland in the setting they are set up right next door to Norsca and the Chaos Wastes so they are almost always at war they also have Ice Witches.
I don't think I need to do a base summary of Chaos. Main leaders Skarbrand the Exile for Khorne, Kairos Fateweaver for Tzzentch, N'kari for Slanneesh, and Kugath Plague Father for Nurgle.
Grand Cathay is led by the ancient Celestial Dragon Emperor and his children Miao Ying and Zhao Ming, yeah it's China. It's also the oldest nation in the setting.(CA and GW had to add a lot of fluf to get it actual lore instead of one paragraph.)
The Ogre Kingdoms are a number of wandering tribes led by Over Tyrant Greasus Goldtooth and Skragg the Slaughterer they are cursed by an endless hunger that they can and will eat everything even other people.
The other leaders of Chaos are humans that have been ascended to daemonic princedom.
There is a Daemon prince character (he was that Yuri person) that is a build your own lord faction for Chaos Undiveded.
Azazel is for Slanneesh was alive when Sigmar was still mortal, he is so pretty (Via chaos shenanigans) that people just give up and join him rather then fight.
Festus the Leechlord was a doctor that saved a lot of people till he gave up and joined Nurgle for knowledge of all diseases.
Vilitch the Curseling was a weak wizard and his brother was a strong warrior and he pleaded to Tzzeentch for their places changed and he combined them together with Vilitch controlling his muscled brother.
Valkia the Bloody was such a hardcore Khorne whorshipper that when a Slanneshi daemon tried to get her in his harem she killed him then when she died trying to take his head to Khornes Skull throne Khorne he turned her in to his valkyrie.
Chaos Dwarfs led by Astrogath the Ironhand, Drazoath the Ashen, and Zhatan the Black worship the minor Chaos God Hashut god of fire and domination, it should be noted that Dwarfs can't be forced to chaos worship, Babylonia references here and lots of slave labor.
There are short victories if you want short games as well.

Although the homeland is called the "Ogre Kingdoms," that title is so loose you can't come up with an analogy for it. The Ogres are more in line with a series of nomadic tribes ever on the lookout for their next big feast. The Ogre Kingdoms are, lorewise, based in the Mountains of Mourn, bordering the Western Provinces of Grand Cathay. The ogres are best known for their role as mercenaries for anyone that can afford their often inflated gold and food prices. The average unit of Ogres are what you'd expect, few in number, but representing a living battering ram with no concern for consequences. The Ogres also make use of a subspecies of greenskins known as Gnoblars, think goblins with larger noses, and a social hierarchy that centers around the size of an individual ogre's gut and how many titles they have, and trust me, Ogres LOVE adding new titles to their name.

They are connected by the warp/realms of chaos, and because of chaos' non-linear nature several characters can have multiple things be true about them at the same time. For instance, Slaanesh was created in 40k but exists in WHF, and was imprisoned in AoS but is free in 40k. So far only natural daemons are able to cross over both realities, so Archaon is never going to meet Abaddon, but both can meet Be'lakor.

A fun thing with in-game diplomacy: certain factions allow you to just straight-up take over others if you meet criteria that would make sense in-universe.
For example: with Norsca and Greenskins, if you beat an army with the opponent’s faction leader at its head, you can take all of their settlements and armies right then and there. There’s a chunky hit to general public order for the next few turns, but it’s usually worth it. And besides, it makes sense: you proved that you were a more worthy leader. Ergo, you’re in charge now.
With other factions, the criteria are different. Chaos is a bit similar. If a Warriors is Chaos faction is ground down to one settlement and their leader defeated, you can confederate (which is just the in-game term for making them join you) them.
But others, like the Empire and Brettonia, have avenues though less direct means than violence. The tech-tree for Brettonia has milestones where you can just tell sub-factions to join you by force of noble obligation. The Empire has a secondary resource mechanic that lets you build favors and good will among the feuding tollbooth kingdoms of the Empire until they _want_ to join you. And each time that happens, you gain a province with not only the direct in-game resources, but an extra means of capitalizing on all of your resources to represent bringing in both another resource-rich region as well as statesmen that are skilled at exploiting such resources.
I have a lot of love for TW:WH, though it’s sad that Creative Assembly nuked a lot of its community good will in the last couple big updates. I do hope they dig themselves out of the hole, though.

PancreasNoWork does good stuff. He's also part of the Lorecrimes podcast who regularly cover Warhammer content and lore, as well as having debates/shit-talking sessions about certain Warhammer topics every other week.
There's also Loremaster of Sotekh, a big Lizardmen fan who does a lot of Warhammer Fantasy lore stuff, including a long-running podcast called Lorebeards. Although I should mention that Sotekh's original co-host left the podcast some time ago and he has since partnered up with a Mr Andy Law, AKA Lawhammer, who is a professional writer that used to work for Games Workshop, namely stuff for their Warhammer Fantasy RPG books.
I highly recommend the Lorebeards for more complicated topics like the Winds of Magic or the Children of the Dragon Emperor of Cathay; the two kind of go hand in hand because the Dragon Children all embody one of the Winds of Magic. Case in point? Miao Ying and Yuan Bo, the two legendary lords shown off for Grand Cathay, are two of the Dragon Emperor's children, embodying the Wind of Life and the Wind of Heaven respectively.
And in case you're wondering how the Winds of Life and Heaven translate into lightning storms and throwing rocks? It's complicated, but since since life is associated with water, Miao Ying can use that to make storms and lightning, and because the Heavens include planets and other Celestial bodies, which conveniently includes the planet everyone is standing on, it can be used to cast meteor.

So to add a bit of context for the little stinger clip at the end of the announcement trailer (2:51 here): Grand Cathay, Warhammer Fantasy's china analogue, had long been a a background feature of tabletop Warhammer Fantasy. It would get occasional mentions, but always framed as rumors, things like "travelers say that to the east lies a mighty empire ruled over by a dragon emperor", never any concrete info. In the leadup to Total Warhammer 3, there had been rampant speculation about if and how Cathay would make an appearance. What was generally settled on was that it would probably be a later addition, a DLC faction similar to the Vampire Coast (who had similarly been a side player and never a "full" official army - they got an army list in a White Dwarf Magazine issue, but never had official models). Basically nobody expected that it would be a core faction for the game.
Then this trailer drops, and it ends with the advisor shuffling some papers away on the desk to reveal Grand Cathay prominently on the map, with a musical sting evoking the same leitmotif CA had used in all their trailers for Total War: Three Kingdoms (which is, of course, set in China), and with the Advisor then looking directly at the camera as if to confirm "yes, it's in".
    People went nuts.

I think the human factions are all pretty cool, but the fact remains that lore-wise the existence of anyone outside of the Old World isn't possible. The origin of humanity, unless it was retconned (and I don't generally accept retcons anyway unless they make sense or are needed) is that humans originally came from somewhere unnamed (now Albion, I think, which is okay) and settled in the Old World as druids. Later, many more humans came as tribes and destroyed the druids and settled the Old World, carving out territory for themselves. Then Sigmar was born and the rest is history. Nowhere in that is there anything that could result in the existence of any other humans. Even the more recent lore of humans originating from Albion makes it impossible for humans in other parts of the world to exist. Games Workshop was all "Duuude, lets add other real world cultures to the setting" but didn't pay attention to what they had already written. They could easily say that Cathay and Nippon originate from northern Chaos tribes that abandoned the Dark Gods and fled south. And Ind could be said to have been the descendants of the druids who fled the Old World and say that the Lizardmen helped them get set up. The Arabia expy is easily explained as the descendants of a tribe that didn't want to settle in the Old World and kept going southward. There, problem solved. But as far as I'm aware, Games Workshop hasn't thought about this problem at all.
At least it isn't as ridiculous as the mere existence of the Dark Elves happening at all. Oh, you were rejected by our main god as king? Well, unlike _every single other time in our existence_ we're going to reject it and follow you instead. We're also going to abandon all decency and our culture to create a new one of pure evil and sadism for no reason at all and follow the _God of MURDER._ Also for no reason. Oh, and despite being a small part of the Elves and being driven out and therefore losing all of our resources, much of our manpower, and basically all of our equipment and facilities, we're still going to somehow create a continent-spanning empire and be a major threat to everyone around the world. Yeah. Sure. Bullshit.
Or Britannia. Yeah, Sigmar is totally going to ignore a tribe running away from him when his entire reason for fighting was to unite the tribes and so letting them go directly contradicts his entire motivation and his greatest life goal.

Okay, so the trailer after the Slaanesh one was for the Daemon Prince faction, which is all the daemon faction units and a few of each gods mechanics in one extremely customizable lord, and the one after that was for the game’s tutorial campaign. The champion of chaos DLC added for new leaders. The Mirror of Madness thing is like super custom games where you can change any aspect of the games fights till your computer explodes. Finally, this series also does a lot of Free DLC, it was free legendary lord with their own faction, but now only free heroes who can be added to army’s of specific factions like the hammer storm (who was warhammer’s first meme even in a time where the internet wasn’t widespread). A channel I would recommend for this game and lord (apart from PancreasNoWork) is one called Cody Bond with his Noobs Guide series. He covers the lore and play styles of individual lords in the game.

I should mention that there is a long history of daemons in Warhammer Fantasy crossing into Warhammer 40k and vice versa. This is kind of a given since 40k was originally pitched as taking place in the distant future of Warhammer Fantasy, and one would assume that these are just holdovers and tongue-in-cheek references to the older editions of 40k.
Except writers for 40k like to screw around with the idea of the two being separate dimensions that daemons can drift in and out of via the Warp, which is actually canon. And canonically, the Chaos Gods exist in both Fantasy/Age of Sigmar and 40k simultaneously, as they are omnipresent beings that pervade all of time and space, even if their power waxes and wanes; Slaanesh did not exist in 40k until the Eldar created it, but once Slaanesh was created it existed retroactively and was able to influence the universe even before it was born. That is why Slaanesh is often called the youngest Chaos God; Slaanesh has always been there, standing beside the other Chaos Gods as a conceptual entity, but Slaanesh didn't 'wake up' until the Fall of the Eldar.
Slaanesh was also effectively removed from Warhammer Fantasy for a time during the End Times saga, being devoured by the Horned Rat while in a vulnerable state and then later being imprisoned up until recently in Age of Sigmar, which meant that Slaanesh was effectively dead and had thus lost the Great Game in Warhammer Fantasy and had to go play in other universes until they were let back in.
On that note, a lot of Khorne's Warhammer Fantasy units are actually from 40k, like the mechanical Bloodcrushers and other similar mechanical units we would understand as 'Daemon Engines', or living-mechanical constructs created by forcing daemons inside them in a form of possession. This works because Khorme is staunchly anti-magic, unlike the other Chaos Gods, so his forces made up for this by using advanced technology. Most of the more egregious stuff, like lascannons and actual 40k vehicles, were phased out due to Khorne's preference for melee and the realization that they had to separate the sci-fi stuff from 40k from the things that were still in fantasy, but you do see small things like the Bloodcrushers and Daemon Engines creep back in, and named daemons like Skarbrand even return to Fantasy with 40k equipment, like his various chain-axes.

Slaanesh was never eaten by the Horned Rat. In fact, it ate so many souls that it grew powerful enough to challenge THE THREE OTHER CHAOS GODS in sheer might, meaning that the Horned Rat wouldn't have had the slightest chance to do anything to it. The reason why it was captured though was because, as a side effect of eating so many souls, it's mind took a nosedive and it was reduced to a gluttonous eating machine that, by the time of Age of Sigmar, simply walked into a trap set up by Tyrion, Teclis, Malerion (Malekith with amnesia), Morathi (the four of which where using themselves as living bait) and Tzeentch (who helped the four find Slaanesh) without thinking twice about it.

53:01 well technically speaking kislev is apart of the empire, but due to shenanigans and politicticing kislev was allowed more autonomy especially considering they are on the boarders of the chaos waste and norsca thus under constant attack, and the story of the chaos dwarfs is the saddest, before the vortex (that tornado that high elves control) demons and chaos itself nearly overran the world, the early dwarfs retreated into the worlds edge mountains and the grey mountains during this retreat the clan of the chaos dwarfs were cutoff and captured. So to save their lives and thinking they had been abandoned by their kin they swore allegiance to the dark gods, now when the dwarfs were created by the old ones to be anti magic. So the chaos gods began tampering with dwarfs to see if they could influence and or make them susceptible to magic/mutations, and no it turns out that if dwarfs use magic it turns their bodies to stone in a process called petrification (the dwarf in the mech shit that awakens that huge monster is going through said petrification) so most of the weapons you see chaos factions use? Most likely built by the chaos dwarfs

25:50 the immortal empires is a feat of game development, the turns are much better then they were, and yes there are short term and long term victory conditions so you can play a race for a short time and them a long time if you feel like it or even come back to a camping.

So, I'm not sure for Fantasy, but according to Bricky's latest video on the 40k timeline, at one point in the past the Warp was separated from the Realm of Chaos, which might be what you were seeing in the one trailer where Nurgle fights Slaneesh.
Also, and this I know is correct cause I read the wiki, Nurgle is the oldest of the Four main Chaos gods, having been birth right alongside life itself at the beginning of time. That's why many call him Grandfather Nurgle, though Papa Nurgle works all the same.
There's apparently a Fifth Chaos God called Malice or something that's largely been cast aside in the lore, but who is actually considered the most powerful of all of the Chaos Gods. The others hate and fear him, and he's probably the only being they would join together and fight, except that they can't stop fighting against each other to do so.

I've read comments that talked about how Malice was cast aside for copyright reasons. I don't remember the specifics though.

Immortal empires has like 200 ish factions. The end turn time is purely based on how good your pc and what turn it is as the late game lag real is, for me at the start its like 10-20 seconds.

I recommend some videos by a CZcamsr named enagingbear, he does very cool cinematics using the game's engine. They're pretty short vids, but fun to watch nonetheless.
