Just picked one up coming from the world of Logic and MPC One. The different workflow and the sound profile of the device was too attractive for me. Videos like this! Haha great work
Thank you! I’m also a Logic, mpc live user. I love building ideas and songs on the Digitakt and MPC and then pull all the ideas into Logic to finish them off.
Wow as an MPC Live use this chopping process is tedious for my taste but as you said at the beginning it works for you so that’s cool.
The MPC Live has way more flexibility. You can make full ideas on the Digitakt but for me it works best as a drum sampler / drum machine.
How hard is it to learn? I have got plenty of synths but I am definitely a slow learner.
Out of all the Elektron boxes it is the easiest one. There is a little bit of a learning curve but it’s pretty easy.
Any issues with not being able to adjust slice points? That’s fundamental functionality on other samplers.
You can do that. Just not in slice mode.
It would be nice to have that added feature so you could kind of get a Octotrack "mini" vibe by creating slice markers. You can use trig locks to have the samples start right when you want but it. You can also copy/paste the sample across multiple track and then set the start point for each but that eats up so many slots. Maybe they will add it in an update down the road since this one did so well. Fingers crossed.
It would slow down the process but also the fixed slices mean that p-locking/assigning the LFO/control+all of the various elements of the SRC page become much more musical and natural.
