Hamilton was the next Elvis. Sadly He died so young from Cushing's syndrome ( basically glands that create too much cortisol ) People who have this condition usually skinny arms and legs and a round extended stomach similar to a beer belly. I knew someone in Canada that worked with Dan and he spoke how the music industry tried to hide his illness by having him wear clothes that hid his girth in the stomach area. This is one of those songs that only Dan Hamilton could have pulled off to the maximum desired effect among listeners. He had the winning formula - the right voice, a catchy hook and a memorable melody. Add to this his rock star rugged looks, personality and virtuoso musicianship and you have close to perfection as can be. He was a complete and perfect musician. And yet, so underrated. Dan taught us that being discreet and humble in the world of music is a path to oblivion, but he also taught us that true music can withstand the test of time and become an eternal work of art. I'm 72 and it blows my mind that the oldest member of this group is 10 years older than I almost to the day and is now EIGHTY TWO. Dan was only 3 years younger than I, so he was about 24 when he recorded this and I loved it when it came out and I love it today. Such a shame he died so young; great voice, great songwriter. The whole group was eye candy too.
I loved this song as a kid. I never knew that Dan Hamilton was so gorgeous. I just found out that he is no longer with us. I am so sad about that. He had a beautiful voice and face to match. It's still One of my favorite songs today in 2022.
Poor Dan Hamilton. He deserved a longer life and a better ending to it. Still he is immortalized here and on his other hit "Falling In Love. RIP and thanks for the great times!
Yes.. it's very sad when someone passes at an early age.. but Bible tells us absent from the body, present with the lord... I doubt very much Dan Hamilton if he had the choice would much rather be with his heavenly father in paradise.. wouldn't you? I would.. Jac
I really love this song, and HAMILTON 's voice was the BOMB. This song brings back good memories of my teen years. Listening to him sing makes you wish you could turn back time.❤❤
It can never be Debbie sadly ..... as a group they disbanded 43 years ago, and then Dan died ..... the two remaining members then went their separate ways.
Dan Hamilton, 48 (musician) Wikipedia Daniel Robert Hamilton (June 1, 1946 - December 23, 1994) was an American musician and singer. He was a member of The T-Bones with his brother Judd Hamilton and later formed the soft-rock group Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, performing lead vocals on the band's two biggest hits, "Don't Pull Your Love" and "Fallin' in Love". He was also a composer who, in addition to co-writing "Fallin' in Love", was the sole songwriter for the Ventures hit song "Diamond Head". Hamilton died on December 23, 1994, at the age of 48 of complications from Cushing's syndrome. RIP Dan Hamilton!!
Where all my fellow 50 year old fans at? I'm seeing so many comments of those lucky enough to go dancing or make out at "The Point" to this song but I was just a toddler when this song was becoming a classic. So glad I had cool young parents at the time that listened to awesome music. Gave me their 70's music so I love that as much as my 80's Brit pop and R&B as well as my hair bands and metal. I'm all over the board with what genres I love but tunes like this will ALWAYS hold a place in my heart!
2023 still rockin! Don't pull your love out on me, baby If you do, then I think that maybe I'll just lay me down, cry for a hundred years Don't pull your love out on me, honey Take my heart, my soul, my money But don't leave me here drowning in my tears You say you're gonna leave, gonna take that big white bird, Gonna fly right out of here without a single word But you know you'll break my heart when I watch you close that door Cause I know I won't see you anymore Don't pull your love out on me, baby If you do, then I think that maybe I'll just lay me down, cry for a hundred years Don't pull your love out on me, honey Take my heart, my soul, my money But don't leave me here drowning in my tears Haven't I been good to you, what about that brand new ring? Doesn't that mean love to you, doesn't that mean anything? If I threw away my pride and I got down on my knees, Would you make me beg you "pretty please"? Don't pull your love out on me, baby If you do, then I think that maybe I'll just lay me down, cry for a hundred years Don't pull your love out on me, honey Take my heart, my soul, my money But don't leave me here drowning in my tears There's so much I want to do I've got love enough for two And I'll never use it, girl, if I don't have you
I have always loved this song but never saw the band's pictures. I just stumbled across this video by accident. Such a handsome great singer. I feel bad that he has passed. What a voice!.
My wife and I seen this video and I never knew who sang the song! Keep playing videos like this it brings back such great memories! Thank You 😊
@@scottvidmar913 It sounds so much like Elvis, he would have probably had a good hit with it --- but Don sings it just right for sure. It's one of the songs that reached #1 on my charts, then reached #1 again many years later. This song ONLY reached #4 on the national charts.

If anyone noticed Joe Reynolds' name didn't come up, he had left the group in 1972 but they continued with the same name. Alan Dennison joined the group in 1973 but it wasn't until 1976 that they changed their name to Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Dennison. They disbanded permanently in 1980.
A time when all band members like steely dan etc actually studied at juliard (i read dan had published music by the time he was a teenager) so my opinion….they made music amd lived life , vs the mktg machine pace and the “artists” Who are often drawn to it like social media influencers as a means to the fame versus the Pham coming as a result of the music being the draw just kind of a different way you know I’m not saying that people didn’t get wrapped up and being stars and then things went different directions but as a post to social media influencers that are trying to make something out of nothing instead of something happening because of your talent or draw to music and then it evolves organically or at least not the cart before the horse if that makes any sense
There were a number of groups around this time that had the same thing going on. One...two top 10 songs and then nothing. Just works like that sometimes.
I am 11 years old and I love this song, sad to here that Dan Hamilton passed away and my 62 year old grandpa loves this to. Long live Hamilton, Joe frank and Reynolds
One of those all time classic boyfriend and girlfriend love songs. One doesn't hear or experience this kind music or emotion in today's music. A true classic.
I was an on-air disc jockey from 1978 to 1990 at an AM (eventually also an FM) station and would occasionally get a request for the ELVIS song, "Don't Pull Your Love", and I would have to explain to them that it was NOT an Elvis song. Most people did not believe me and, honestly, I can't blame them. If you close your eyes and picture Elvis while listening to this 70's classic, it ALMOST, oh so close, sounds like THE KING singing! How I wish he had done a cover of this song, I just know it would have been AMAZING! In any case, this is a perfect, 1970's, pop CLASSIC!
Danny had a voice a thousand times better than Elvis. they are incomparable. Elvis was a performer and a dancer... but he was not a musician. Dan Hamilton was a Composer, excellent guitar player and an amazing vocalist, a complete "Musician".
Elvis Presley was OKAY. But the truth is he was a COVER artist not a musician. Out of 700 songs he recorded, over 540 plus were covers, the rest being written for him. He could not write, compose or create a sound anywhere close to the gems Dan a REAL ARTIST was capable of creating. Presley was also had a very bad habit of copying other vocalists singing styles in particular Jimmy Sweeney and total vocal plagiarizing of Roy Hamiltons ballad style in the 60s. Dan was his own man. Had a perfect Male low tenor voice with the kind of strength and easy beauty you can't teach. He didn't need to copy anyone. He wrote, composed and played instrument on his OWN work. In truth he wasn't the next Elvis. Dan was HIMSELF and that was MORE than enough.
@@c.ostriker5572 Without a doubt, Dan Hamilton was an incredible "musician," through and through. He achieved his successes solely through his sheer effort and that of his bandmates; nothing was handed to him, he wasn't chosen to be a Teen Idol. Despite years of hard work, instrumental compositions, backing other guitarists on tours, opening for famous bands, and session work, he only tasted his first success at 25. It was so fleeting that he had to give his all to compose a dozen songs in a year, selling equipment to record demos and visiting numerous record labels until his work was accepted-a journey that resulted in a number 1 spot on the Billboard and a Gold record. All achieved through hard work without putting on a "show" or courting controversies. Always grounded, reserved, and worthy of his immense talent.

The future has a difficult time competing with the past...
Now were in the age of weirdos
I loved this song as a kid. I never knew that Dan Hamilton was so gorgeous. I just found out that he is no longer with us. I am so sad about that. He had a beautiful voice and face to match. It's still One of my favorite songs today in 2022.
@ Crystal Freeman I agree with you. Dan Hamilton was really handsome and his voice matched his looks. Very sad that he was taken way too soon.
Yes,he was very handsome😍 I didn't know he passed until I read your comment. RIP
One of the best songs of all time.
lol, big call , great song but it was up against some heavyweights from that 70s era, great video though
These guys were better than they got credit. Great sounds
I couldn't name another song of theirs
The sound of the summer of 1971..huge song.
Totally agree, and whilst this great song did really well in America, it sadly never got the recognition it deseved over here in the UK.
those horns just take it over the top for me...great song
@@barryh.4220 it did in the winter of 71 in Australia, I have loved this song since I was a 6 year old kid.
Was in AIT at Fort Knox Kentucky. Armor training. Remember it well!
I was 6 you, and walked to the drugstore with money my mom gave me and bought this 45. The 1st record I bought.
Damn, they were hot, I loved them and I was 14 in 1971,great, innocent times!!!
For everyone coming here in 2024, this is the first time hearing this and I heard it on Batman and it's my favorite song.
Love to hear that!
Great music in a time when the world somewhat made sense.
So true , great times back then.
We were young 🤫
Poor Dan Hamilton. He deserved a longer life and a better ending to it. Still he is immortalized here and on his other hit "Falling In Love. RIP and thanks for the great times!
Yes.. it's very sad when someone passes at an early age.. but Bible tells us absent from the body, present with the lord... I doubt very much Dan Hamilton if he had the choice would much rather be with his heavenly father in paradise.. wouldn't you? I would.. Jac
He was one gorgeous man....❤
When I was I kid. I thought this was Elvis. But we only had AM radio. Great song
Danny ❤ the best musician ever ❤
Dan Hamilton is gorgeous! Could watch him sing all day long!
Hello Susan, How are you doing?
Me too. I was so in love with him 😊
He does have a nice mullet.
@@liamroberts9047 Go away creeper. This isn’t a dating site.
I was born in the late fall of 1978! Amazing Recording! Amazing Song! Amazing Video!
Summer 1971! The best of the best!
I saw and met them in person when I was a teenager. I just loved them. I'm now 59
I really love this song, and HAMILTON 's voice was the BOMB. This song brings back good
memories of my teen years. Listening to him sing makes you wish you could turn back time.❤❤
Yes-strong memories fr/JrHigh when we moved away.
Danny Hamilton had one of my favorite voices in rock history.
this is so true
I am right there with you. I would not mind going back to this time.
@LG Absolutely! Takes me right back to 14 years old in 1971 and I'd go back right now.
I am 64 years old and this song brings back alot of memories good ones would love to see them in concert ❤️
It can never be Debbie sadly ..... as a group they disbanded 43 years ago, and then Dan died ..... the two remaining members then went their separate ways.
Little FOSS and Big Halsey, man they make a winning team! (Johnny Cash)
😞So sad...@@barryh.4220
Dan Hamilton, 48 (musician)
Wikipedia
Daniel Robert Hamilton (June 1, 1946 - December 23, 1994) was an American musician and singer.

Great Song Great Recording! Great Vocalizations and Orchestrations! Great Band!
Sane same!
And bout to turn 47 (so close enough; , mom was 30 when she had me in 76 and dad was 40, so older parents)
I’m 59! Thought o was the youngest on here! For once! Hahaha. Great song.
私が中学生だった頃、放課後1人廊下を歩いていたら、校内放送でこの曲が流れてきて、なんて素晴らしい曲だと感激しました、今もこの曲を聴くと、あの時と同じ感激、感動で涙が出てきます。
Such a shame he died at such a young age. Extremely talented & very handsome.
Love Dan Hamilton!
We miss you Dan Hamilton !!
Don't pull your love out on me, baby If you do, then I think that maybe I'll just lay me down, cry for a hundred years Don't pull your love out on me, honey Take my heart, my soul, my money But don't leave me here drowning in my tears There's so much I want to do I've got love enough for two And I'll never use it, girl, if I don't have you
5.
I'VE HEARD FOR YEARS, NEVER SEEN THEIR FACES.
I have always loved this song but never saw the band's pictures. I just stumbled
across this video by accident. Such a handsome great singer. I feel bad that he has passed. What a voice!.
Hahahaha no doubt. Heard the song a million times and couldn’t pick these guys out of a lineup. Three tv stations and no google
RIP Dan. Thank you for leaving this great song.
I'm 65 and still love this song, another example of why the 70's had the BEST music!!
My wife and I seen this video and I never knew who sang the song! We are turning 60 well I'm 62 and she is turning 60, and we both looked at each other and at the same time we said they don't make music or songs like that anymore!! For the last 25 years, everything is total shit we are so grateful we grew up in the 70s and the 80s!!! We are grateful our children listen to the same music we did! Keep playing videos like this it brings back such great memories! Thank You 😊
I could have sworn it was Elvis Presley!!
Folks, This is what real Music sounds like. Not the CRAP they push down our throats today. Where di those days go ?? Jim
R.I.P Dan Hamilton 🥺💔
im 24 years stil listen this song❤
His voice is just so incredible! ❤️
Yes It was and he was good looking and he is still miss.
Sounds like Elvis at times
@@scottvidmar913 It sounds so much like Elvis, he would have probably had a good hit with it --- but Don sings it just right for sure. It's one of the songs that reached #1 on my charts, then reached #1 again many years later. This song ONLY reached #4 on the national charts.
I mean, Dan, not Don.
@@cherylcollard5200 Yes, he was. What a cutie.
75 y/o and Still Lovin' the Music of the 70s‼️😸❤️
I invite you to my channel to listen to many more songs by Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds. If you search for the playlist 'the best of HJF&R/D', you'll find all their music there.❤
I remember listening to this song during my US Army Basic Training & AIT in May thru December 1971
How did these guys not have more hits? They tick every box for being bona fide super stars.
They had "Fallin' in Love" in 1975.
There was a lot of stiff competition back then!
I’m 23. I’m young. But. Goodness gracious. This is one my most favorite songs. 70’s and 80’s music is AMAZING. I love it
Parabéns, você tem bom gosto 👏👏👏
You have great tastes David ..... there is nothing around musically today that can even compete with songs as good as this.
If only people would appreciate music like this nowadays. This right here is real music, not some kind of heavy bass with lyrics you can’t understand
One of the best pop singers ever!
Hamilton Joe Frank and Reynolds were one of the best bands ever still sounds in 2023 great memories forever
I like this…from Batman and Harley Quinn cartoon.great song👍🏾
I always thought Dan Hamilton had the sweetest voice.
Great oldie! ❤️
I am 11 years old and I love this song, sad to here that Dan Hamilton passed away and my 62 year old grandpa loves this to.
Long live Hamilton, Joe frank and Reynolds
I heard this song at my Dad's Indian Bingo casino and fell in love with it! These guys were so yummy! I was 9 years old- now I'm 60!!!😍
Love this song , they are very handsome guys.
If you close your eyes, you wouldn't know that's Dan Hamilton singing he sounds just like Elvis Presley.
One of those all time classic boyfriend and girlfriend love songs. One doesn't hear or experience this kind music or emotion in today's music. A true classic.
What a voice! Real!! Beautiful! Alot of so called cheap talent today are just good looking and well Don t deserve fame
@@serlestial9085THANK YOU 🤝👏👏👏👏
Elvis Presley was OKAY.
Always grounded, reserved, and worthy of his immense talent.
america has Alwayz loved your music!
Im 62 and this was one of my favorite songs!
Never gets old. Love it.

All this time, 55 years of living and hearing this song on the radio in stores, etc. I always thought it was an Elvis song.
I heard this playing in the background at a McDonald's today.
Great classic song.
