The reason asian countries don't have the players is one the western countries (in my opinion) are generally more developed countries especially about 30-50 years ago. Therefore it's much more likely for those with disposable income to donate and even buy supporting teams merch therefore able to invest into stadiums holding larger crowds funding more tickets increasing money in order to buy better player, managers etc. therefore having a solid foundation in football allowing them to grow a fan base from those not from local area as well. Secondly, if you were a decent asain footballer you would rather go to countries with better pay like Honda, Son, Kagawa did. Just because you don't have decent players from your country doesnt mean you can't be a fan of the sport.
