Define a decent reason for SAO. While they gave a more explained reason, wasn't the reason they gave just insane, and not make sense.
Oh, it was completely insane, too. But it works better in this version because it was couched in how Something Witty built up the antagonist as a man that didn't make good decisions under pressure (that, and forcing through incomplete games with catastrophic bugs and glitches is something Bethesda is known for... I'm looking at you, Fallout New Vegas).
The reason was insane, but it still conformed to the Abridges internal logic.
The original on the other hand, that was a cop out answer because the writer backed himself into a corner (or they thought they were being deep. Which, arguably, is worse because that could only happen if the writer failed to understand that the internal logic if the story did not support their decision).
If there was some sort of lead up to the "Don't Remember" line, anything that could stand as a justification, the line could work (there's a whole slew that could work to set up this rational, or lack of such. Two examples I've seen in other work are a different passage of perceived time leading to forgetfulness, or sections of memories lost while interfacing with the virtual world).
My problem with the original isn't that the line is bad, but that it doesn't stand on anything within the content of the story (there are many similar arguments out there in terms of authors using sudden and unexplained Deus ex Machina as a way to wrap up a plots they can't see a way to end based on what's already been written and established).
Huh, been a while since I've done this sort of fiction dissection. It's still pretty fun to do. :)
Fair enough, your reason does make a good point, and I do agree with your point while that the line was suppose to be deep. But saying its he didn't have a reason is just wrong. While I'll admit the line about forgetting the reason was a bad move, but its the lines after that people ignore. He talked about how he wanted to make that castle in the sky.
alvi syahri - I think he was referring more to the fact that Bethesda gave Obsidian an insanely small amount of time to make their spin-off/side-entry
@@TheLinkSparrow I would still argue the explanation of the abridged version at least makes more sense and is more satisfying to listen to as compared to the "i don't remember, i just had this vision I wanted to make and then this happened" like... that's just bullshit.
I love how Dracula and Alucard are separate personalities in this.
Yeah!
And how Anderson refused to fight till Alucard came back out. That part was awesome!
AirierGames
It really was.
But I miss Dracula. He was really awesome.
Especially how he called the policegirl out by her real name, and she got really excited.
I know, right?
The scene was just too cute (definitely not something I EVER expected to say about THIS series).
AirierGames
Like you said in the video, anderson and Alucard have a really strong chemistry.
Its like...Like L and Light....
Like the Joker and Batman...
Like Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenstein!
Ok ignore the last one, but you get the point. These two are Ying and Yang. Together they are balance. And I love them.
Correct me if I am wrong but what I remember from the anime Dracula and Alucard are seperate personalities. Dracula being the original host body and Alucard being the personality and powers of all those countless souls combined.
The snap in accent and personality from Dracula back to Alucard was probably one of the funniest things this episode
Yeah, that's completely the case. And then the entire fight scene with the opening music in it. It almost feels more like a reunion than a fight.
The ending *nails* you right in the heart don't it? Seriously though RIP Anderson.
Your seriously hammering in that joke.
This is a deep pain...
Oh cool it gets worse!
this is why i love this show the OVA's and the Abridged they make you laugh enjoy the awesomeness and do justice of the fact that this show is the most bad ass anime out there period
Even after 2 years
That comment is on point.
When TFS does comedy, it's pure gold and when they do drama, it nails you right in the feels
Yup!
You mean the heart
RIP Alexander Anderson. ''Monster of God'' music was from original. Fucking beautiful.
wasent it "the assassin of god"
No, it's 'monster of god' : czcams.com/video/SYEmpiy9W2o/video.html
Walter's reason, if memory serves, was a huge gambit from back in WW2. The point was to get Alucard back, in a killable state, and to fight and kill him at his(Walter's) best. Hence, he set up Integra in a position to require her to set Alucard loose, then get the Nazi's in a position to force Alucard to Level 0, so he's killable, and to get vamp'd himself, so as to fight him in his prime. Some sort of Pride thing from back when Walter was a teen, I think.
He always hated Alucard from back then, so yeah pride and a bit of anderson like hate.
Why does level zero make him killable again?
Level zero not only looses the restrictions of his full power, but it unleashes most, if not all, the souls that he keeps in his body. During this time, his main body is basically just him. His Immortality is based around him sacrificing a soul he has consumed for each "death" he experiences. And he has millions, normally. With his army out, it was described as there only being the King left in the castle. So, while still extremely difficult, he does become much more killable. If someone were to get his heart, it'd be pretty much a done deal.
DragonSword35d factoring in, his real body was in the casket the whole time. this is the first time in the series that you can even see his real body.
They changed it to sexual frustration 😂
What I still find interesting is that TeamFourStar themselves basically call this an episode and a half because that took a good chunk out of episode 9 with this. Reason being that Hellsing Ultimate episode 8 ends right in the middle of the Anderson v Alucard fight, so it makes me wonder how their going to handle episodes 9 and 10.
If the past 7 episodes prior to the certainty indication, then with a heaping dose of Awesome. And a side of "oh my God WTF this is amazing and terrifying at the same time!"
AirierGames very true my good sir
Alucard has the ability to lower his Restraint Level all the way down to 1 if he needs to but only Integra could give the Ultimate Command to allow Alucard to unleash Restraint Level 0
This episode hits hard fam
also for the creator it never was a one shot :P
Edit:walter was not evil he just wanted to defeat Alucard cause that would prove his title
It's truly awe-inspiring how seamlessly Team Four Star can pivot from comedy, to drama, to badass on a goddamn dime.
Especially right at the end. The mood Whiplash the last couple seconds is insane.
ALEXANDER ANDERSON!!!!
RabuneHinoStudios :(
"What's your name?"
It still heavily irks me that Airer has still yet to figure out that the "KKK" paladins are supposed to actually represent old religious attire which is still in use today.
Actually, I am aware of that. But it's never the first thing to come to my mind.
Oh, well that genuinely makes me feel a lot better then. Good to know! :-)
It's just odd to see people assuming they're _actually_ the KKK and then scratch their heads wondering why Hellsing Ultimate was using the KKK unironically. *Shrugs*
Yeah, that's actually exactly what I was wondering the first time I saw a video about Spain where someone was wearing that.
It's kind of funny in hindsight.
Although, to be completely Fair. Teamfourstar didn't use actual KKK members in this one. :-)
Did* (Grammar Nazi)
I don't know about you but Jeb most certainly _was_ a former member before Alucard heard something in the wind. Sucks to be him though, should've known better than to join anything associated with religious holy wars. Those rarely ever end well. ;-)
3:40 when dead man's ship once more dock's in england.. the bastard is home for a party with Elizabeth once more! let's have some fun
This video was so powerful...Im holding back tears....
If I wasn't so mentally and physically exhausted from being at work all day, you can imagine how crazy my reaction would have been.
... Actually, it's probably good thing I was exhausted. I'd rather not cry like a b**** on camera (please ignore the ending of near automata).
AirierGames
Well I hope the video unexhausted you.
Belisarius The Historian boy shut yo sensitive ass up
Never mind i just cried
I know. Right?
Anyone else wanna try Satan's toast?
Alpfa its to die for 😂
Shadow Willow how you just said that.....................just felt and sounded wrong
Hey... maybe we'll get Holy Ghost Anderson
I hope you're right!
"Who gives a shit? They're Nazi's." coming from the Nazi leader is the best line in the show.
Love that RWBY photo in the background. Also, just realized Alucard saying "it's only been two days but it feels like years" is him talking about Team Four Star's upload schedule of a year per episode
Yup!
I love it whenever people throw little jokes about how long it takes them to actually make something. It's a bit of metal humor that I was going to laugh at.
And thanks. I love that RWBY poster. My girlfriend got for me last Christmas.
Not just TFS. The manga artist ALSO took years to finish, even when the OVAs were being made.
The bromance between the Psycho-Catholic Paladin and the Fuck-Mothering Vampire is real.
I'm thinking about Vanoss Gaming and that Matrix Sandbox scene: "God damn you, Anderson. God damn you."
ThePrettyGuardian adorable profile picture
That was Alucard’s coffin inside the hull of the blackbird he crashed into the ship. One of the rules of being a vampire is that they can’t cross running water, even in a plane, without having the soil of their homeland. In the case of Alucard/Dracula, it also serves as a limited to his power.
kempachi's song
I know this is an old video, but I feel the need to say this, as I haven't seen any other comments doing so.
In the original story of Dracula, Dracula appeared at London, riding through the fog on the ghost ship Demeter, with 50 boxes of earth from his homeland.
In Hellsing, Alucard rides appeared at London, riding through the fog on the destroyed cruiser, with the coffin at 5:37 presumably holding something similar.
huh, didn't realize that was a call back to the original book. Thanks for letting me know. I love details like that.
Wonder what they will do with the major? his death in original was epic, and his reasons were so deep... only Nazi I shall ever respect.
I'm actually curious to. But more because I never saw the original yet. I keep watching more episodes of the Hellsing ultimate OVA as new Abridged episodes come out.
Once you watch original, you'll see... damn it! we have to wait for new abridged episode for a whole year.
Look on the upside, we may or may not actually get another dbza episode prior to the end of the year... That doesn't help, does it?
No, it most certainly does not help... where is the upside for me to look?
The upside is that if this is their last video for the year they went out with one hell of a bang. That and if you consider it, the abridgers only get better and perhaps one day... these manic geniuses might actually make original content... though based on what TFS and SWE have done with existing IP's anything they'd make would blow our physical minds to dust.
Still 2-3 more episodes to go, if it takes some time.... so be it, we all signed up for this knowing it was quality over quantity content, and damn if we haven't been rewarded time and time again.
Walter's motivations have always been clear however very convoluted. During Walter and Alucard's operation against Millennium during WWII The Major offered him a place within their organization however, Walter refused it initially. Sometime after The Dawn and before the beginning of Hellsing Walter took The Major up on his offer becoming a double agent. Some hints to this are his absence during Richard's coup after Integra's father Arthur died forcing her to reawaken Alucard after he was purposely sealed away, The Valentine Brother's mysterious knowledge of the Hellsing Estate and The Doctor having a remote detonator for The Jackal handgun. Walter in his youth was belligerent, short tempered, foul-mouthed, arrogant and sadistic but mellowed out as he grew older. The reason why he became a member of Millennium was because he had a deep seated fear of growing old and useless and so decided to prove his abilities to himself by destroying Alucard as well as having a secret disgust of humans, seeing them and mortality as weak and all his sentiment to the contrary was all an act. However, despite all that he does genuinely care about Seras Victoria and Integra even considering them the only true family he ever had.
I love this episode.
YES!
Hey hey hey that was awesome nobody and I mean NOBODY says otherwise. He went out.....bayonets swinging and that was fuck mothering awesome as all hell.
True that.
The voice acting by Taka is something else.
There's an exchange between Alucard and Anderson in the original, and Alucard lamented the priest's choice to become a monster like him.
Taka conveyed that just with the "No, no, no..."
I love how they used the original soundtrack from the old Hellsing anime.
They did?
One more reason to go back and watch the original. :)
That was alucards coffin and it was restraining his power.
1:56 That kind of shit is why I stopped going to church.
Lol
jeck jeck should have been why you became protestant
Ask yourself, was Walter a good guy in the first place? He might been recruited by millennium back in ww2 after Alucard abandoned him to fight Hans on his own. Alucard got already sealed when Walter was in his peek strength so he did not get to fight him and try to kill him like he wanted, and by the point Alucard got released Walter was already too old and weak for that.
I think it was hinted at that he joined when integra was a kid. Afterall "walters in brasil". And whatsin brasil? :3
Best reaction I've seen so far. Great video man.
Thanks. Glad you liked it. :-)
Earned a new subscriber! Awesome reaction and awesome RWBY post in the background as well! :D.
Thanks!
I got the poster from my girlfriend. She's as much of a massive RWBY fan as I am.
first time i watched this myself, i had to pause it when the song started, i was laughing to hard. (you know exactly which song by the way)
I do! And, yeah, definitely not a bad choice.
1:17
Can't tell if you're realizing what they mean by the *Piracy's a sin* part or if you saw something off camera...
Ya bloody heathen.
I actually missed that they said piracy is a sin.
I think hellsing abridged is a good example why people should watch the original first, i guess there was a lot you would completely miss if you didn't watch the original show
Tfs released a full ending song parodying Hamilton
And it's AWESOME!
I've listened to it non-stop for days now.
btw the abridge new episode comes once a year as intentional omage to the OVA's with came once every year at the exact same day as well :)
Sorry I took 4 years to do this, but, Restraint Level 0:
When Alucard was captured by Van Helsing, he was experimented on and they found many ways to seal his power. Although he can, if he feels he needs to, break these retrains, one level of power is beyond himself: 0. Only with the permission of the ruler of the Helsing family and organization can he do that.
What you saw opening when he releases level 0 was his coffin. Alucard took his coffin with him on his trip to kill the vampire lady on the boat, because vampires can't cross bodies of water if they aren't on or nearby their coffins and the soil of the place where their grave lies. Weaker vampires are even more affected by that, that is why on their trip to Brazil Alucard managed to stay sitting on the plane, drinking wine and having fun, while Seras had to be shipped literally _inside_ of her coffin or she couldn't make it; on that quick scene we see her in the coffin on the plane, you can actually see Alucard's coffin is sitting next to hers, but since he is much more powerful he can actually stay out of it, so long as he doesn't go too far.
So, to kill Rip von Winkle in the middle of the ocean, Alucard had to bring his coffin with him on the plane, if you look closely on the scene he is approaching the boat you can see the coffin standing behind him in the cabin.
Wallachia is what southern Romania was called before Romania was even a country
When alucard arrived I swear for a moment I thought kenpatchi showed up because that's the same song they use for him in bleach s abridge
I love it when any tv/anime series mentions Yahweh as I use him in my books, and team four star...fucking nailed it!
Wats the name of ur book
I presumed it was going to be ten episodes, then the sheer EPICNESS of this episode made me think this was the finale, then that last bit happened.
Yeah, I was pretty much the exact same boat. We are considering it out, beating Millennium was the entire main part of the series up until now. But as soon as Anderson came and we all forgot about them all together.
One thing I really like about the abridged is that Alucard calls him 'my friend' when in the original, it was 'my nemesis'
It's funny how that actually make the Abridged Alucard more sympathetic and Human that his original counterpart (I find that funny, because, well, it's an abridged. That's just not the expected course).
its true that in the original he isnt as sympathetic as in the abridged, but he definitely cared about anderson. I mean, that scene where anderson is dying and alucard is crying blood is from the actual episode after all. in fact, i used to think that anderson and alucard were children together when they were both human. ill have to rewatch the episodes, but i remember a few of them giving me the impression that they didnt seem to know each other because anderson didnt know alucard was dracula, supposedly killed 100 years prior by Van Hellsing, and alucard couldnt remember a large part of his past, possibly due to the occult magic van hellsing used to bind him to his lineage
The abridged made me love this series more and more
The song is Ready to Die by Andrew W.K
Alucard and Anderson shared a fraternal duality. OVA Dubbed and Abridged versions both have great respect to that. I think that episodes 9 and 10 will be blended in a 30-35 minute finale and I'm sure it will be perfect.
Yeah, I was talking with my GF, who's already watched all the original episodes a few times, and that's what she thought's they were going to do, too.
@@Airier where was she this ep
You know Airier, with your mustache you could probally cosplay Dracula pretty well.
Dear AirierGames, the Jackal Willis. You're welcome ;)
... I have no idea what you're talking about, dear... I was, testing you. Yeah, testing.
Don't know if someone else pointed this out or not but the reason that Walter turned evil wasn't because he lost but because he had betrayed Integra when she was a little girl. After her father died, Walter went to Brazil to meet with the nazis in order to make a deal in becoming younger so that he could fight Alucard when the time came. I don't remember if the 'losing to the dog man' was something they did explain in the anime itself or you're just misremembering/misinterpreting it for some strange reason but that wasn't what happened.
Good reaction video overall though. I enjoyed it. :3
The Bird Of Hermes is my name, Eat my wings to make me tame.
That was music from CupHead! Not some elevator music.
I keep hearing about that game, but I haven't played it yet. From what I've heard it's kind of like Super Meat Boy. You played if you have a giant masochistic streak, or if Dark Souls was too easy for you.
Spoilers for Episode 10 of Hellsing Ultimate Original:
Walter was trained as a vampire hunter BY THE NAZIS! He was told to kill Alucard and failed numerous times. He still considered Alucard an enemy but worked with him knowing one day he would betray him to get one last shot at him. He fails, thus losing his purpose, and betrays the nazis for backstabbing him and leaving him to die. There was a scene explaining that in Ultimate! The one thing I never understood was how Walter became a child by the end of that fight. I thought it was Alucard's magic, or the botched operation somehow did it. But I never had anything confirmed.
you know in hindsight using zerplines durring that time is very..........ineffective given the gap
Yeah no once I heard go for a walk I left my room, I knew what was coming next
After missing Halloween that one year, they said it would be 2 per year. This means we SHOULD get the end of Hellsing Ultimate Abridged next year.
Well, didn't last years come out earlier this year, though? Wouldn't that make this the second for the year?
AirierGames Well, seeing how they've already used quite a large chunk of OVA9 here, they could either just wrap it up (expect it by late 2018/early 2019) in one go, OR they could incorporate the three little "Dawn" episodes into the 9th episode...
I'd rather they go with the latter. Otherwise the Grand Finale would make a humongous episode, that would:
1. Test our attention spans, 'cuz brilliant comedy is best enjoyed in smaller portions.
2. Be much more difficult to direct. Integrity is the key to quality, after all. And this way it can take some two years to produce.
3. "Dawn" wouldn't (imo) make a good standalone Abridged ep., but as another portion of Walter/Girlycard humor - definitely.
....
So, yeah... Loved your reaction, it's sincerity in particular. Subbed.
16:52-17:04 That refers to a scene in the original Hellsing Ultimate where (and I am not kidding on this) a young Alucard is sexually assaulted by a priest hence the "Hand prints/knee prints/footprints" reference.
Alexander Anderson, Alexander Anderson
was a fly priest took a spike and now he's dead
I've been listening to the TFS Hamlton parody song almost non-stop since yesterday. It's awesome!
Yeah it’s pretty good
An amazing episode, very well done. If I had quibbles it would only be, changing the "my Seras Victoria" line; making the Iscariot pledge the opposite, rather than damming themselves so they could forever fight the forces of hell on their own turf and bringing in the devil, rather than having Alucard be mankind's darkest creation.
The thing is that he didn't drink Anderson up, he didn't take his soul...that is bro-acard
Well the thing with Walter was that all his actions from the very beginning all his actions were a facade. Alucard respected him because he was a kill crazy bastard like himself, but most importantly because he still had his humanity. However in the end Walter secretly feared one thing most of all. Becoming old and decrepit and forgotten to time.
Nailed it like the FUCKING ROMANS!
13:48 to be fair it actually just sounds better in that language “god is great” in english just doesn’t sound as good it sounds kind of awkward but then again other languages usually sound better than english.
trying not to cry but failing horribly
3:50 did anyone else thought that it was gonna be kenpachi or just me
Just to traumatize you more...alucards entrance song is from CUPCAKES HD.
The lazers are rip van winkles musket bullet
Was that a parody from Obama and Trump phone call?
... I didn't think it was at the time. But now I really really wanted to be that way.
best ep of HUA
Nailed it like the fucking Romans
The Coffin was from the blackbird I think.
Oh yeah. I completely forgot he crashed a blackbird into the ship.
yeah, his coffin was on the blackbird because in vampire lore, in order to pass over a large body of moving water they must take with them their coffin, filled with unholy dirt from their birthplace. One way then of limiting a vampires ability to travel, or outright kill lesser vampires, was to have a priest purify the unholy soil
I like how they're playing Dies Irae when the "crusaders" start their attack on London. Dies Irae is Latin for Day of Wrath.
That point when you consider watching the original as spoilers for the abridged series. ^_^
Yup. :-)
Youre awsome
Thanks!
:-)
The most painful part is that we have to wait 12 more months.
I'm trying VERY hard not to think about that.
At least second season of Overlord is in 3 months.
Wait, that was real? I'd heard about that, but thought it was just a rumor.
Naw. They announced that there will be 2'nd season when they released the movie and then they made it more precise by saying they will release it in January of 2018 in one of the novels.
0:29 IT’S KANNA!!! KAWAI!!!!!
The music for Satan was from Cuphead by the way.
Ah, I've heard of that game. Have't tried it myself yet, though.
*MIGHT I REMIND EVERYONE* that TFS said they were making *_TWO_** EPISODES A YEAR* from now on?
Yeah, but they also said that last year and... It didn't quite work out that way.
Although, last year's episode come out in this year... So technically they did due to this year?
*A MAN CAN DREAM CAN'T HE?!*
TFS is going places.
The Satan scene actually has music from cuphead.
Does he get it abit wrong about Walter's motivation in the original? It wasn't that he lost. He was working against hellsing for a while now, wanting to get a chance to fight against alucard and stand a chance of winning. And millennium gave him the opportunity on a silver platter.
The thing is, I've actually heard at least four different explanations of why he did this. I'm honestly not sure which one is the real one.
AirierGames I think this one was confirmed by creators and such. Because he is a vampire hunter he just wanted to be able to beat the world's strongest vamp. That was why he let Integra almost die (this is shown in original non abridged version), and why he joined millennium
I had the same reaction with Walter's kick the dog moment >:(
I know, right?
Once you see episode 9 of Hellsing Ultimate you should better understand Walter and why what he does here makes sense and isn't stupid. To put it simply, he was never on Hellsing's side to begin with.
Ok I am calling it, next episode for Hellsing Ultimate Abridge will be the last. I have seen the actual Anime and I know they are near the end. Now to wait until next year or the year after that to see if I am right.
2 more probably, hellsing ultimate had 10 episodes and they have matched it so far.
Yes but TFS combined 2 episodes to make 1 episode. I think it was episode 2 on the Abridged series that they mix in episode 2 and 3 of the anime so they are almost out of episodes. They don't have to make it 10 episodes. Look at DBZ, they cut that over half if not 3/4 of the original. But like I said, wait until next year (if everything goes well for that year), or the year after that (if shit happened and they can't do anything about it).
Yeah but let's be fair here, dbz has waayyy more filler than hellsing would ever have, about the only padding the original had was the major, just cause his speeches were so damn long and he literally said the same thing each time just talking circles around himself.
Well you’re right tfs says it’s the last episode
he is the bird of Hermes 💓
In the Abridged some charachters started to shine really. I didn't give a damn about catholics in the original and hated Anderson, but here he is one of the best charachters. And some were shown from the funny side, like Integra, Alucard, Zorin and Major
Simply watch ultimate and the dawn. Walter's reason makes more sense.
Every time i hear the song at 3:50 it reminds me of cupcakes hd. Anyone else having this happen?
Did any one hear the cup song when they talked the devil
I didn't know about cop had at the time, but a lot of people said that it was that song too.
#BitchesLoveCannons
Nuff said.
Don't mean you did NAZI that coming? Get it? Because nazis.
That was SO bad.
Have a like!
The original is better still. I still get tears watching it and it is my favourite. The aria called “Monster of God” played during the whole Nail of Helena is gut wrenching to me. Surprisingly, I don’t like the abridged as much because I love the original and the manga. The show is cheapened somehow.
Nonetheless, your reaction to it and the respect you have for it are the best I have seen of all thre reactions currently on. You’ve earned a loyal subscriber. I recommend you watch Psycho Pass and Death Parade as I think you will love them and I would love to get a reaction vid for the original ova 8 when you actually watch it.
It's get ready to die by Andrew WK
They're doing 2 a year now
song Ready to Die by Andrew w Kay
And the intro song is party party party by the same guy
It's actually kind of a shame you aren't further in Bleach S Abridged. This intro becomes even more funny due to... stuff.
!!!!
Note to self, watch more Bleach S Abridged right away.
The series got 10 episodes (original).
Thanks. :-)
Ok just realize this how did Maxwell get into that I'm guessing bullet proof box when there are no doors or openings in the box
They made a 4 minute song for him check it out please!!
Inside Alucard cards?
It would be like Cards Against Humanities older, drunker brother.
