"It felt like years!" - it was literally more than a year between when previous and this episode came out
Don't worry, it's a common trope that either Dracula's son, or secretly Dracula himself, go by the name _Alucard._
Anderson didn't sense "evil" in Maxwell as a kid, he sensed his religious righteousness. He actually liked his religious zealotry.
"I would not allow another monster like myself to exist in this world."
He would have gladly lost to Anderson as a human. The second Alexander pierced himself with that thing, though? The outcome was settled. He was gone. He just didn't know it yet.
"and you are... I want to say Logan?" I love this line considering what that person is. In old stories Logan was a name or code phrase to denote a werewolf.
My favorite part about Alucards' entrance, is the implication that he used his shadow powers to make little feet, and just, like, kicked his way back to shore.
The whole Alucard thing was introduced in 'Son of Dracula' movie that came out in early fourties, then was mostly forgotten for a while before it resurfaced in the nineties when everyone suddenly decided to revive it as a trope.
It got revived because Castlevania something something sequel used it as a name for Dracula's son in one of the games.
Fun fact: that credits somg was a parody of the opening song of the musical Hamilton. It's about the titular character the founding father Alexander Hamilton
I recommend it it's a good musical
If I’m not mistaken, the reason Alucard was so mad at Anderson for stabbing himself with the nail, he wants his death to be by a human who is actually capable of killing him, not by another monster, and Anderson was the closest thing to that he’d had in a while…or ever
finally the release of DRACULA!
to be honest the "release of restraint level 0" is an episode you should watch of the original, even if you don't watch the full anime
I still am not over the actual incantation "The bird of Hermes is my name
Eating my wings to keep me tame"
Good on you for getting the Martin Luther joke.
So I pause this just for this face. Just for this moment in the series. When you learn alecard, backwards is count Acula. Count dracula
This is why episode 8 is my favorite
The song at the end tells the story of a comic the Hellsing writer before Hellsing where Anderson was the main character. He was a dope dealer as a kid screwed over the mob and hide from them inside a church disguised as a priest. Only differences is it wasnt a vampire and there was more then 1. They were doing... uh... things to the nuns that make have to not recommend looking up said comic. It caused controversy for a reason.
Anyway the Anderson in the show is supposedly not the same one and his backstory isnt stated to be to the same or similiar but i like to keep it as head canon. They even look the exact same
You should listen to the full version of the end song; it goes hard, and there's more to it than was heard at the end here
the actual scene in Hellsing Ultimate between Anderson and Alucard when Anderson dies is so god damn emotional, its beautifully done.
Hm... again no one told you, okay so.
The "it was the ten years of-." scene refers to how Vlad Tepes was captured by the Muslim Turk invaders (The Ottoman Empire) of Wallachia (modern day Romania) and after capturing him they used him and other slaves as a source of punishment and pain for a decade.
He eventually escaped and learned that the remaining members of his family hadn't tried to free him in that time, his father and brother were killed by a regent who installed a cousin of Vlad's as the king, all of this eventually led to his takeover and then his conquest to reclaim what had been taken by the Turkish invaders and ultimately his name as the Impaler. Which sort of makes sense all things considered.
Fun fact: Heinkel in the Abridged was voiced by Kira Buckland, and the cool thing was that I met her back in Too Many Games last year! She was very nice to speak with, and to get a selfie with!
It's been along time since I've seen a reactor who didn't the whole Alucard backwards thing. It's mostly because alot of reactors watched Hellsing Ultimate or read the manga. Don't feel bad. I, too, started with the abridged and I, too, didn't figure it out. There's always so much goin on there just is no time for contemplation!
anderson didnt want respect, he wanted problems.
You really need to react to the full version of Alexander Anderson a catholic crusade
YESSSSS
Castlevania play the games and you will learn 7:42
Alexander Anderson went out as a true Christian and Alucard is completely wrong here. God forgives all, but you have to forgive YOURSELF. There's only one requirement into Heaven, that's through Jesus Christ.
God does not "allow" starving children in Africa, WE DO. If God came down and took direct control, he'd be considered a tyrant (rightly so). God wants worshippers, not slaves. This is our opportunity to be righteous, we choose to take up that cause. To top it off, what is Alucard doing about the starving children? What are you doing?
Alexander Anderson was actually quoting a Bible verse towards the end of the video. It is Genesis 9: 6 if you want to look it up.
please tell me how we take direct control? would that mean one group has total and complete power to enable to ensured protection of others? dont you see how IMPOSSIBLE that truly is? think about it. yes i agree that were easy to blame but , its just that...life goes on no matter what happens. n matter how many die, or how many someone saves. and religion is definately not going to help unite anyone. 4000 different sects its impossible to reduce to one. we need some warhammer level events to inspire that kind of human unity.
