How surprising that big 4 stans have an issue with a small company group like ATEEZ winning something. Work did well, and considering our KR fanbase is very small and most of the streaming is done by international fans, we worked hard for those 19 points. Also the way the digital scoring is complained has something to do with the SK market. The more they stream on SK platforms, the better the digitals.
I like AESPA, but I'm happy we helped ATEEZ get their 2 trophies. To me, we show ATEEZ we appreciate their hard work and creativity. Its like a gift to them and I'm happy I helped to secure that gift.

@@tsboyzzz I don't misunderstand anything. When big company groups win it's no questions asked, but when they don't everyone wants to doubt fans hard work.
We always lack in digital points because we have very little to no help on streaming platforms. We did well in other categories which is what helped ATZ win.

Kind of solo artist are doing fine and groups are fading. Which is pretty standard if you look at other locations.
In the 40-60s as “pop” music grew out of the Pop Standards genre it was dominated by groups, but after the 60s traditional pop groups basically died. Even groups that are essentially boy and girl groups (Jacksons, Sweet, and Runaways) were still in the “band” format or were older performs (Philly Soul groups).

being a group from a big 4 company is itself a huge privilege tho.
Sm or hybe stans don't have to mass stream a song on every platform possible or even voting bc the digitals will ALWAYS be high despite the song being good or no.
Why? Because those big company fans will ALWAYS tune in their favorite companies' groups, no matter what the music quality is
Groups from smaller companies have to work their ass off every comeback promoting their songs on every variety show they attend, and knowing that if this exact same song by this smaller company group was given to any big 4 company it would've get way more popular.
Hate this genre of privilege even if it's not the groups' fault. I'm sick of seeing my idols not getting as much as love and appreciation they deserve

Im surprised people even try to fight against this. That is common sense and how things are ran and people will try to deny it.
Look, you’re fave can still be extremely hard working but did get privilege debuting for one of the biggest most well known company where the biggest barrier to entry being to even get on the publics map and be recognized is non existent for these groups. Any group debuting with any of the big companies will be known regardless.
I understand we all like a “worked our way up” kinda story but thats not reality. Its not even a reality for many of the trainees that debut.
Thats just how life and entertainment business works (sadly).
(I don’t know if alot of the people denying this are very young or just ignorant to real life, fame, nepotism, money, or the meaning of privilege through connection which also means debuting in big companies. I don’t understand how this is denied like some of the comments above me.)

I'm not a fan of either, but I think netizens forget that ATEEZ is marketed significantly better (and quite a bit more these days) than Aespa.
KQ only has a few idols to take care of whereas SM has many idols (see the whole of NCT for minor example) and a lot of legal troubles. Therefore KQ can prioritize the promotion of certain idols much better than SM can.
Does anybody else here get recommended Kpop content? I do. I literally cannot escape shorts with ATEEZ's Work in the background. Whereas I literally had no idea Aespa even had a new song.
I've seen ATEEZ collaborating with just about everyone physically possible to promote their song, do Aespa even do that outside of other SM artists..? I've never seen them collab like that.
I don't even like Work to be honest with you. I saw it pop up, figured I'd give it a try and immediately said "Where the hell did their concept go?" Lol.. The stage outfits I saw on shorts were.. Questionable at best. It was a miss for me. But I'm willing to bet you that the short collaboration spamming they've done to try to promote it is why they outranked Aespa. Once you've listened to that song or you've left a CZcams short replaying for a minute or two you're sucked into the loop of coming across shorts with Work as the background song.
Props to their marketing team, I guess? It's kind of annoying though to be honest. Glad they're doing well for themselves though.

You can see the effect they had on the IDOLS. The award shows for a start used to be fun and the idols letting their hair down and celebrating with their peers. It doesn't need to be a contest; just make it performances for the purposes of advertising rounds, just like the "press junket" system in the US or the musical guess feature for talk shows. No points necessary. One reason I like them too, is because some of the music videos for Kpop groups can be really wacky and not enough fan service for my favorite members, but there tends to be fancams and closeup versions for performances, for maximum fan service of those members -- so regardless of whether the music video works out for me, I can count on lots of different versions of the choreo and looks from the music shows afterward

Never understood WHY it was so important to have a "music show win". Girl, I dont need an award to tell me im the ISH lol. Or to validate my artistry, because many good acts have came through KPOP without a single win. Its just another way to say "we are more popular than you/sell more than you" which to me isn't very, Artist of you do to. And if you are a true artist, sales dont matter, but the reach/connection your music is able to have/make. Music shows to me take out the oppurtunity to try something new and branch out, beause so much importance is placed on winning an award that ultimately in the grand scheme of things only holds weight in S. Korea. At this point in time they just dont hold the same value they once did, some groups/acts make it seem like a participation award with how easy it is for them to obtain one. Again the award is not important, the showcasing of talent on a show that is broadcasted to the entire country/world is to me, a reason or more as so why these shows are still going strong. We tune into these shows to watch our favorites perform. Ship started down hill once they took the live asepct, of a live performance. But I also get the "credit" an award like this could give and boost your sales. Ultimately fans just have to stop placing so much weight on mundane things. Its like watching an award assembly at your school seeing the honor roll get awards lol.

You can still do that, if you love the music then it shouldn't be a problem . ..

I used to wake up and watch music shows or listen corelia radio at very late in the evening back in the days. But because of my own life, I cannot do that anymore. Also so many kpop groups that I used to listen/watch has dispanded or are in long hiatus or doing other activities (KARA, VIXX, SNSD, ANS, XUM, Neonpunch, Majors, Gugudan, KARD and so on). So I currently have no excuse to watch music shows. I will only watch them, if someone I like is performing and even if I try to get to like new groups I don´t feel them same joy as I used to feel. It would also take a lot of time and effort to learn about new groups that I don´t have them time to do so. But when I have some little extra time I try to learn a tiny pit about new idols or at least listen one new song.

I watch music shows just because a UNIS member is an MC.

Don't worry their is one group reviving the 2nd generation style of shows by doing LIVE singing 🥰. They are still small group but they sing live to the show bringing back 2nd-3rd generation era
