Not even that. You can hate people from your own racial and ethnic background(s), but these people are just ignorant and xenophobic. Chinese idols get so much unnecessary hate and "accidental" discrimination, as well as the HK and Taiwanese idols getting hate from Chinese fans and other people, too. Especially when there's a scandal, then these three particular groups are told to "go back to where you came from". Japanese idols, too. Honestly, people need to just realise how politically and historically biased they are, and work on improving themselves. Fans are discriminating against people even of different nationalities, when their problem is with that country's leadership, not the citizens.

@@user-dg3ug7ny5d I’m not saying I stand for it but Chinese idols are known to get in a kpop group to boost their career in China. Many leave their groups because they’ll be A list celebrities with huge and expensive sponsorships even if they didn’t come from a top kpop group. Also whenever something happens in China like the whole Hong Kong dispute most if not all Chinese members of kpop groups went to either Weibo or Instagram to show solidarity to China. Korea and China has had a long hateful history hence why many knetizens see it as betrayal when groups leave their kpop group to get paid more in China

@@blacklungsanji3 I think what you talk about is the cyclical process Chinese idols see themselves gravitating towards, as their chances to gain celebrity status in South Korea are limited, due to their nationality/current citizenship. Idol programs are also more focused on catering to Korean trainees/idols, so this is why many Chinese idols go back to China to compete in programs.
But I can kinda understand why fans think that way, but, at the end of the day, this is someone's life and career we're talking about, and lifelong fans will support someone, no matter what country or language they are promoting in.
In saying all of this, and slightly off point, but to a certain extent, I think everyone would rather promote in their home country, but C-pop is largely unknown worldwide, and so going to South Korea to hopefully become a trainee presents much better opportunities for a career. And it's not like this is only relevant to Chinese idols, either.
Idols who have ties to the USA or Canada usually go back there to promote after gaining a certain level of support. I see it like gaining experience for a job, which results in better future opportunities. Such opportunities don't happen without some sort of current sacrifice. Indeed, nothing in life happens without some form of sacrifice.

I'll admit, I find Aespa's concept a bit confusing/perplexing. However, they are gorgeous and talented (I especially love Ningning's voice) and don't deserve this amount of hate. I swear, it sounds like people are just looking for controversy because they're bored or frustrated with the state of the world and just trying to take out their negative emotions on other people. I hope the four members of Aespa will rise above this and continue their hard work.
Edit: I'm not confused about what their concept is, I'm confused why, from a marketing perspective, SM Entertainment is being so restrictive with how they're using it. I haven't seen an act from SM Entertainment that has stuck so strictly to the concept the way they have with Aespa. I'm even more confused that with all of the hate these very talented girls are getting, that they're really not doing much to defend them, especially when a lot of the things people are complaining about were probably not from Aespa members themselves, but from choices SM made. Considering the amount of time and money that goes into training and creating a kpop group, I would think SM would look out for their investment in these girls better than they seem to be doing, even if just from a business standpoint (although I hope they care about the members of the group more than in just being focused on business, but also from a safety and well-being perspective.)

But just as I've said at the start of my comment I'm not defending Giselle and was really disappointed with what she did. Hating idols, especially when they are in SM, is literally a wrong move for every hater out there. Imagine that every group released by SM was criticized so much: SJ get criticized by having 13 members, EXO was initially recognized by people as SM's greatest failure, F(x) was criticized just because Amber dressed like a totally normal person would do, Krystal being distant with the media because she was scared, not because she's acting like a bitch, Red Velvet was dragged down by people, asking why they have to debut at all (and that is why Yeri was so scared of people), hating Yeri for crying over Jonghyun's death. And now Aespa, the 4th gen girl group of SM with such amazing talents, gets criticism for lipsyncing, Giselle can't dance, Karina lacks muscle movement, and the hate for foreign members. I really don't get it, but don't you get it?
Those idols that were criticized were now loved by the people, literally ate their words after saying harsh comments, even caused the death of 2 loved SM vocalist, Sulli and Jonghyun. Someday, this haters will also eat their words, vibing with Aespa's songs, and stanning over the members. Until then, just fuck off will you?

    What BTS copied-
idk but they must've copied someone (bc im not army)

its so sad. they're relatively new as well and to be treated with so much backlash is absolutely heartbreaking. whether they "deserve" it or not, no group should be treated like this, especially because they arent even involved with most of these controversies! their concept and so many sm artists being involved with it leads to so many exciting theories. im hoping these girls keep their heads up.

not to compare or whatever but i just cant ignore the similarities between jennie and karina, more specifically the hate they are getting. idk it kinda felt like history repeating itself or whatever, it just gives me that vibes.
like dating scandal, the "favorite" by the company issue, getting hate for being famous even before debut bc of pre-debut activities such as stage perfs with their sunbaenim/senior. Idk it's just hard to explain.
I like and stan both groups (bp & aespa) and this aint a hate comment, my heart goes to both of them.

Yes although Giselle did make a horrible mistake, I don’t think she should’ve gotten so much hate. You’re telling me that you’ll do the same to the boys in my class who think they are top shiz who actually say the n slur and not lip syncing like Giselle

That’s your responsibility to call those boys out, not ours. “…I don’t think she should’ve gotten so much hate.” What what level of outrage do you think is acceptable for a slur? This isn’t anything new in the kpop community and all of you continuing to downplay it is what makes the outrage grow.

What did you just say, the word she said was very hurtful and rude towards black people. No one was “hating” people were just simply expressing their disappointment in her saying the word . You can’t compare to the boys in your school since no one is their to call them out whereas Gissele has millions of people to correct her and tell her that what she said was wrong . Not only that but in her so called apology she claimed that she got “carried away” which makes it seem like she says the word often off camera and not on camera . So you’re telling me after all that she does not deserve the backlash I mean if she said something worthy of forgiveness I’m sure me as a black person would for sure forgive her because you know Stan Aespa. However she didn’t which is unfortunate. By the way you don’t really have the right to express you opinion in this matter because you are WhiTe . Hopefully you understand now … xxx

I'm black and I was mad as hell asking her in my head 'how could you? why would you?'. did I go online and start mocking and hating and humiliating her like the ppl I've seen? NO because she doesn't deserve it. and If you think she does, you should probably think about getting your morals and values together because that's just messed up.
