From Boston's "Don't Look Back" album, here's the onscreen lyrics for "A Man I'll Never Be". A beautiful song with Brad Delp vocals at his best!!

@@ImaJWalker Aww. Thank you so much for that! 😊🤗
These videos are indeed VERY well done.
2024 this song is timeless and there will NEVER be another Brad Delp.................Period !
Yes, 2024, Boston❤
Yes indeed! June 1st 2024 🎸🎶🎤❤️🇺🇸
I'm 65, I was going nuts over Boston from the start in high school and still am today. A top band in music history.
Brad Delp . . . . . The voice of voices !
❤❤❤❤ R.I.P Brad Delp... The Greatest 🎉😢🎉
The most beautiful rock ballad ever.
Thank you for your comment! ❤️
Yes, it is. ❤️
A perfect song, and a beautiful video
Definitely one of them. I play and sing this song, I love it too.
I’m with Bart, been a fan since 76 when they released that first album.
My favorite Boston song. Just one of the greatest bands of all time.
This song reminds me of my father. While I was growing up he was an alcoholic. I always looked at him and wanted a father I could count on. Who would be there for me. In my 20s he stopped drinking and became the father I always needed. I am so grateful for that and to him. He was a great man.
Cool story!
I can resonate! 🥰🥰 Mine was too and emotionally unavailable, too. Then he quit drinking after I had my Son at age 27.
I thank God for your relationship that became whole again, too! 🙌♥️
I hear that.....
Absolutely one of the greatest tracks ever. Brad - RIP - what a legacy he left us all.♥️
Here we are in 2023 and nobody has written a better song
Goosebumps right from the start. We miss you Brad Delp.
This beautiful song is definitely the anthem for all of those men, like me, who loved a woman with all of his heart but couldn't live up to her expectations and dreams of a man he just couldn't be.
C'est la vie !
@SNP1999. I totally relate friend
Your words ring so true. Im married to one of those women. Been married 35 yrs but since she became post menopausal with no hormones she s no longer that loving wife I used to know.
@@randalcoats5570 Wow, I feel for ya Randal. My first wife wanted to change me into what her idea of the perfect man is, naturally I resisted and it just didn't work out. Sad song...
I also relate to your words, but hey life goes on, but never let that get to your self-esteem. To God we are valuable. Kudos for those words...
@@randalcoats5570 I'm 16 but that sounds so sad, I also love this song even in this generation I'm in, it's so pretty!
Thank you Brad Delp for this beautiful amazing song. Rest Easy 🙌🕊💙✝️
I may never be the man I want to be, but I'm grateful that I'm not the man who I used to be.
18 years sober this year in 2022, 4 years off of opiates, and almost 6 months off of cigarettes.
@One Day At A Time Congratulations and stay strong!! I'm now two months cigarette free, and have been alcohol and drug free for 32 years now. You can do it! We can do it!!! 🙂
Awesome and congrats. Stay in the fight.
Hell yeah!! KCB.
Congratulations ❤❤❤❤
Beautiful in 2024
The best song ever written and performed. Mr. Brad Delp was a vocalist among other vocalist! The official voice of Boston. I was in high school when Boston released their first album. Nothing has topped the bar since then!
A classic...been listening to this for 40 years
Incredibly beautiful!
The words to this song bring back haunting memories!😭 Always loved you Jessica!
Speaks to my heart .R.I.P. B.D.
Love this song, and the video that Rick put with it. I'm a Vietnam Veteran, not long after the war I had a wife, a steady job, a son, a nice house and I had literally married my dance partner. I was reroofing the house in the southern sun with a short case of miller beer when my mind broke. I went into hiding at the college I was attending on the GI bill, and was lost for 2 weeks. Everyone was looking for me. I finally came out, put all my stuff on the front lawn, gave the house to My Step Dad, and got in the car to go to the coast. The ocean was calling me. I totally blew my whole life up. This song later described my feelings at the time. That was 1979.
It is a beautiful song and by far the best ever.
Wish Brad was still here to sing
You cannot get any better than this tune......
This band , this album, was pure magic as a high school teen when they began. Not one bad song on album 1. Every one of my high school crew had the album, we played them into the ground. Every teen party or school events it was played. Every date with girls had a song connection. I saw them live as well in Baltimore. God I miss that music era.
My favorite Boston song.
Ohhh you're such a tender snowflake ❄️ sir 😜👍🏻
Terry, mine too.
@@gentilrebel4857 That's real funny. At least my names not GENTIL........ SIR.!!!🤣🤣
There were a handful of records by dad had when I was a kid that I remember and this was my dads favorite band. He used to turn it up full blast. I never seen him rock out harder than when listening to them. His favorite song was Foreplay/Long Time. I grew up liking them and as I got into my late teens or early 20's this song become my favorite. An absolutely incredible song. The guitar solo's are up there with my favorite solo's ever. Today would had been my dad's 71st. Putting it on full blast in memory of him.
Thanks for posting this beautiful ballad. A lot of men can relate to this and instead of running away. They keep their vows for better or worse in sickness and health...
Same here, bro. That's why I might do a cover of this song for my next video:)
@@Markothunder do it brother let me be backing vocals.
@@randalcoats5570 I just finally did czcams.com/video/i4T82fAQWoI/video.html
I would throw down some sweet guitars if you need.
Boston was highly underrated
One of my favorite songs of all time❤
And Brad sang it BEST!!!! I so miss his voice. He is one person that I truly wish I could have met.
Still listening and lovin' ! Brad had the most amazing voice. I'll never get tired of listening to him and the band.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tom Scholz sure can write and of course play almost any musical instrument. What a great band.
Unbelievably tragic. Such poets!
I've always thought that this was one of Boston's very best songs. It soars to heights that few songs ever do. Really brings back memories for me. Thanks for posting this.
So your what people are talking about when asked "What are ya thinking about?" We respond with "Nothing."
@@anakina1 Who's we queer? My name is Lewis Robert Burton Jr!
Ahh the sweet smooth rock sound of Boston! Like a bottle of Crown Royal whiskey - strong but not too strong, and very smooth
Grande, grande gruppo. Ciao Brad.
Did a wonderful job & thank you...
Im 60 & we loved boston. I miss Brad.. nobody can sound like him.
Thank you! 😊
Great video. Great song What it says to me to stop hating on myself because I am not “A man I’ll never be”.
Such power is but rarely captured with such perfection. Truly a man's anthem for the ages. Sometimes we just cannot satiate the woman we have chosen. I don't know a one of us who's not felt this way. Strangely enough we will sometimes die before rethinking the path we are on.
I lived on cape cod and seen boston before they made it big time .We all knew they were special especially the vocals of brad delp.
It’s nearly impossible to choose my favorite song by my beloved Boston. I was privileged to see them in concert in the beginning of their 1st concert tour in 1976. I still have my ticket and my guitar pick and slide bar that Tom Scholz gave me. I think I can say this is my favorite! I will always love my favorite band Boston 🥰 Beautifully done! Thank you!
Lucky guy! It was my impossible dream to get to the Boston concert! Because Ukraine is far from the USA. But I had their vinyl record from 1978, which I later passed on to my son. Now he owns this treasure!
I’m sorry you weren’t able to see them in their prime! Happy that you love their music and like me, you’ve shared that love of their music with your child.
Extremely underrated song. Nice work on the video
True:(
Brings me back to 78 my freshman year in HS. Beautiful song thank you!
Hi Debra. I recently did an ukulele cover of this song. I hope you can check it out if you have time🙂 czcams.com/video/i4T82fAQWoI/video.html
As a teenager when this was released, I liked the sound, but it was quite awhile longer till I fully understood the lyrics. Would love to go back and see another Boston concert again.
A brilliant and incredibly wonderful song! As an old fan of Boston, starting in 1977, this song, together with 'More Than a Feeling' and the incredible 'Amanda', is my all time favourite - unsurpassed and timeless, a truly wonderful piece of music.
Saw them play Oct 22 1979 at Newcastle City Hall UK. This was song number 9 that night.
I just cry like a baby...I'm The Women that will Never Be
That's okay Marla, I cry like a little bitch every time I hear this song that reminds me of the women I loved so very much, and let down, disappointing their Expectations of me. God, I so wish I could have been the Man they wanted, but they are so much better off. Like Gilgamesh, some of us must travel this life alone. But I do Hope you're not one of us--we Traveling Lonely Souls, us Poor Wayfaring Strangers. The best to you in the coming New Year and Blessed Be.
I cry everytime I hear this song because i lived this song for many year's when I hear it it reminds me of myself and how hard i tried but just couldn't be. Sucks because it's my favorite song so I cry a lot I guess
It's okay to feel like this I have for a long time. Somebody will always be out there feeling like this.key is to find them and empress them. Poor Brad let his life come thru the music but nobody heard him until he killed himself. Don't ever fall that deep ever
@@fredclouse5444 - I lived it for 4 years, and no matter what good things I've done, it fell to the wayside unappreciated. I grew tired and bitter for what was expected of me, yet she refused to compromise much. She made a big deal about her end of compromising.... I loved her more than anything on this earth 🌎, but if the feeling isn't mutual, it becomes as Don Henley in the Eagles song put it "Wasted Time". For the good times I shared with her, it wasn't wasted time. I still love her, but I will never be with her again, by my own choice.... I don't walk roads of anger, I don't have the time.
I forgive her for being selfish, and self-centered because she really didn't get where I'm at.
A good relationship requires both parties to put their all into it, in order for it to truly work. Her fears, and her trust issues, which were baggage from past relationships, ruined ours. Hopefully she will learn to trust and believe in true love. She lost me, and will someday regret what she's done in her heart, hopefully.... Then, she can have a great life with someone else.
I pray for her daily. 🙏🏻
Marla Kammey - Why do you see yourself as the woman that will Never Be?
You have the choice to make your life whatever you want it turn out to be.... You control your own destiny. You're still young enough to turn your life around to your liking.... You're pretty, and young. You also have an interesting perspective....
I wish you the best with your life. Don't settle....
One of the Greats
I had ever loved Boston from 14 yrs old of middle school in 1978...yeeee^^
I read through a lot of the comments through here and WOW to a bunch of them.im glad I'm not the only sorry sap that actually listen to the lyrics.granted instrumentaly this was very very well composed.but Tom Scholz, who wrote this, did one hell of a job with lyrics and Brad did a damn good job of singing it.i wish I could write like Tom wrote this.miss ys Brad
❤ I LOVE VERY MUCH THIS SONG 🎵
This song, Amanda & More than a Feeling are 3 of the greatest love songs ever. Only Foreigner comes close with Waiting for a Girl like You & I Want to Know What Love Is.
Outstanding ! This deserves a lot more views.
Thank you for your comment. I'm touched by it. Share this video on your social media!! 🙂
Beautiful song ever and ever
This band and this song played a big part in high school and with my high school sweetheart. I was a fool for breaking her heart. This great song keeps her memory within me.
me too But she broke mine
What a great song😮
I've loved this song since I first heard it many many yrs ago.and I feel like I'm in that boat.my ex wife, from 20 yrs ago.contacted me about 4 months ago.we were married for a Lil over 4 yrs.and I'm not the same man she knew back then but she says it doesn't matter to her.see I've been in a wheelchair no for almost 7 yrs now.but I love her more today than yesterday or even 20 yrs ago.weve both admitted to our faults but love her with all my heart and soul. I just hope and pray that I can live upto the dream she seesshe loves me with all her heart also.just afraid I might let her down with the way I am physically. But she says it's all right.shes coming to get me in Aug to start our lives over agsin.i love you Michelle
And RIP to my first wife who I lost back in 97 just shortly after our 4th anniversary. Still love that woman today
Anyone here in May 2024?

@Dirk Pitt the Great Thanks so much for your comments!!! :)
This song has always been like Brad wrote it for me..So many feelings and thoughts ....U did a great Job on this the video seems just like how i live THANK YOU
This is excellent. A very well done video.
This song is off the first album that I had ever purchased and at 10 years old it was instrumental in the creation of my philosophy of life. I will always strive to be the man she needs while feeling sometimes like I’m not good enough.. But according to her and even though I’m not perfect, I am the man she is dreaming of. Great Song and Great Band. My favorite..
Yes you did do it justice. Beautiful visual. Sad and lonely. But well said.
Beautiful.
It’s perfect Rick and thank you so much. I feel strength and contentment just listening to this song and bring back so many memories.
Just an awesome classic..brings back fond memories..🤘
Great video and Great song. One of Boston's best ever. Brings me back to the glorious '80s. Thank you, Rick.
@E.P. Thanks for your comment and I'm glad it hit you right where it counts! :)

Tom mestre da guitarra. Lindo solo...

@tdcoheatc Thanks for sharing this on the Facebook group. I am a member of a couple different Boston groups on Facebook 😉🙂
good job for a great song, we all listened to Boston on an album at home or on our 8-tracks from start to finish while crusing. "i fell sorry for the future kids missing out on cars..your first real form of fredom" the songs over whelming force of the sound and word are like the waves you show, just build build build, a force that fill with aw. keep up the good work thanks
Bad ass guitar solos
The ringing of these guitars, the harmonics is difficult to find words to describe. An Absolutely master piece in sound. Based upon the “hard to be unkind”, “easy just to say...
It sounds like a man that has been put upon a pedestal buy the babe who is 100% “all in”, yet inside, the man does not feel the same way about “her” and is struggling with “What to do”?
I’m not ashamed to admit it: I literally bawled the first time I heard this song on the Don’t Look Back cassette. (It was an unexpected change in direction from the rest of Side One)
I’m sitting here listening to this a second time while typing this and trying not to tear up….😢
Amazing song
Totally awesome! Captures the emotions that were intended by the artist. Good job
Thank you! ❤️🙂
Rock & Roll never die.
Yes you did man, yes you did! By the way; who was cutting onions near me?
@Felix Luis Ocasio Thanks man! I really appreciate that 😊
You created an excellent video relating to the song. Camera work is outstanding. Of course, with Boston you couldn`t go wrong. Thank you for such an offering of their music.
Thank you. Means a lot and much appreciated 😊
Heard parts of more than a feeling in the last stance. Ending so good. I hope men don't feel this way. Just give a girl love. It's easy and free.
Regarding the song title:
I won’t either, Brother.
This song WILL be played at my funeral…🤣
