Chris Stuckmann reviews The Gallows, starring Reese Mishler, Pfeifer Brown, Ryan Shoos, Cassidy Spilker. Directed by Travis Cluff, Chris Lofing. - Zábava
"Characters.... f*ck" XD don't think ive heard you swear like that before, it was hillarious
Me too haha XD
xisumavoid You haven't watched him much lately then. Check out his review for Fifty Shades of Grey.
Or his Battlefield Earth review. It's like The Wolf Of Wall Street of CZcams videos.
I see you everywhere now !
xisumavoid It's interesting to see people's reactions to you when they don't know who you are ;)
That breath after he yells "I WROTE IT IN FIFTH GRADE!!!" 😂😂
I swear I replayed it way too many times

Jeremy Jahns and Chris Stuckmann. Best critics ever in my opinion.
Chance Ondriezek Jahns is far away from being a critic...

Jeremy has shit taste.
Why is it every time there's a GOOD horror film, 1,000 bad ones come out afterwards?
Eli DEVITT Unlike other genres, low budgets don't really affect horror movies. You don't see as many bad dramas or action movies or comedies because they generally cost more so studios aren't as willing to pump them out unlike horror because there's not as big of a risk financially.
Eli DEVITT Mainstream horror movies that comes out now (Studios films) are garbage, if you want to see the good stuff, just look out for Indies
John King
The question can be asked for any film genre...except Horror is more prevalent to it.
John King That's kind of what I've noticed lately in a lot of horror movies. They don't want to make them longer like most other movie genres they just half ass it which is a pain and use the same material from every other horror movie. Of course I'm gonna see this movie cause I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff but its times like these people need to start using their brain more often and limit out all the usages that's been in horror movies already. I'm pretty sure the more original you make your film the better it'll become scary.
What is this GOOD horror film you're talking about? I haven't seen one in years.
20-25 year old high school kids lmao
Lol remember in the 80s and 90s when they casted 30 year olds to play teenagers ^_^
Tici Toty Tony lol maybe in another 20 years they'll actually be teens
marc joseph lols I hope 18 year olds
Tici Toty Tony They did that so that they could show 'teenage' nudity in horror movies.
CommanderZx2 lol 18 is legal age to show nudity hell ask Game of Thrones.
Wasn't it Blair Witch that started this shitstorm of found-footage, not PA?
blair witch started it, but PA skyrocketed the popularity
President Jeb Bush 1980 actually. But yes, Cannibal Holocaust was, as far as I know, the first found footage horror movie. And one that Blair Witch was very influenced by (beyond the way both were filmed).
Cloverfield was Fucking Awesome!! So something good came out of it at least.
NascarFanMel141820 To each their own. I thought Cloverfield was crap. Just a found footage/shakey cam Godzilla movie. I couldn't take the smaller versions of Not Godzilla seriously. The scene in the sewers when they attack the protagonists, they sounded like the Murlocks from WoW.
Garrett Butler what about pink flamingos that came out in 1972 or something its not horror but it is disturbing
Most genre have escalating budget, but Horror seem to try to make the cheapest movie ever.
Soon we will have the movie about the completly invisible ghost that only live inside one room and kill you with heart attack
Redem10 Eh. I think the quality of horror films is interspersed. People just like to rag on the entire genre when one or two bad ones come out. But just to name some real high quality/high production horror films as of recent; The Green Inferno, Evil Dead, The Lazarus Effect, Poltergeist, the Insidious movies, The Conjuring. That's just off the top of my head. I would include Babadook cuz it was such a high quality film but it was still low-budget.
Dud you forgot movie that pave way for horror movies The Exorcist.
Ichigo1423jfk I said recent movies
Redem10 Their probably starting production now.
BHM Productions Vice versa. Two good ones come out each year not two bad ones. Chris had three on his Top Ten Worst of 2014 and like three others that got Cs.
I burst out laughing when Chris yelled "characters..... FUCK!"
I did too 😂😂😂
After seeing the movie, it's the perfect response. Those characters are absolute dogshit.
"Characters?! Haha.... FUCK!!" xD
I came down to the comments after laughing my ass of at that, to see if someone else wrote about it, and here it is xD
David Zenteno Hahaha xD
The funniest part of this movie is how the actors of the movie shared the names with the characters in the movie.
The same thing happened in "The Blair Witch Project", "Paranormal Activity", "Project X", etc...
@Vicente Torres alias Vits Cool with those movies too. Doesn't take away from it being funny with The Gallows too
Haven't watched the video yet, but by the thumbnail Chris is looking like this movie was really scary or just god awful.
DoubleOscar He does that like all the time.
DoubleOscar Well looks like it was more god awful
Was definitely the latter
Oh my god! When Chris brought up "rear window", I was just like 'OH MY GOD!' I watched that a month or so ago for the first time, and I loved it. So basic and simple, yet clever and well made. I was just sat there thinking 'omg...I'm into this movie'
Hollywood needs to stop this bullshit of 70% of horror movies being found footage, a group of 17-23 year old white kids KNOW not to fuck around with some evil spirit shit and then shtf and they have to defeat it. I'm tired of it, jump scares every 5 minutes. What happened to movies like the Others? That's batshit scary and really almost no jump scares and those that are, build up with so much tension.
MadeInVolantis Unfortunately these movies always make hundreds of millions of dollars, so to film producers that = We like this, please give us more.
2:18 That's exactly what Chris said about Ouija...
To be honest, Chris, I don't know what else you were expecting...there are a select few directors and writers that I trust to actually deliver a damn good horror movie and they churn out a horror every so often, all the rest are just passable with their constant jump scares with characters nobody cares about. There's usually a diamond in the rough once a year, but I knew The Gallows would not be the one.
He probably expected it to be bad but it's his job to talk about it anyway
R.J. Boyd To be fair movies have proven to be better than expected at times.
Isaac Argesmith I usually just go in expecting the worst. In my experience, the movie seems to because better that way lol
Get Out is most definitely a diamond in the rough.
Apollo 18. Nuff said. *throws up*
Cameron Reyno another found footage movie with a interesting premise but they fuck it up. Area 51 was another one.
Cameron Reyno I think i'm the only person in the world who liked that movie.
Yeah lol the ending to area 51 made me laugh so hard
I wanted to like that movie so much. It had everything right, it was just shitty execution. I mean how do you fuck up a horror movie ON THE MOON? IT DOES HALF THE WORK FOR YOU.
Sebastian Weber I really liked it
Chris you need to review always watches. its a straight to dvd film you can get it for 8 bucks at walmart. its based from the marbel hornets series on CZcams.
"Wait a second! THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!" -HAHAHA :D
Ok, you finally got me Chris. You're reviews were never really funny to me but that "characters!?......FUCK" had me dying for a few moments. Thank you kindly. Always happy to see your reviews.
Haha characters... FUCK!
Now that was funny. Chris Stuckman, always with the best quotes.
Fuck characters... HAHA!
Chris is tougher than he initially seems. Id hate to see him mad.
it's insulting that in some of the advertising they compare the generic killer charlie, who kills people with a goddamn rope for gods sake, to freddy and jason
CHRIS!
you gotta publish midnight tag!
Do It!
lmao. "haha! Characters?!... FUCK!"
You should review Kung Fu Hustle. It's on Netflix right now.
i laughed so much while I was watching this movie
It's an M. Night Shyamalan plot twist
REC is the only good found footage movie..
Nenad Bogunovic what about Chronicle...
egroeg reyes yep, good, my fault, but REC is amazing, a really scary movie...
Chronicle could have been a real movie. The bullshit found footage format added nothing.
"Afflicted" is another great Canadian found footage horror film.
I recommend watching it.
***** ahahaha, you are a sick sick man...Jar Jars picture doesn't help :D but coool :)
What a Great Review Chris! I mean your reviews are always fantastic but in this one you had a perfect blend of humour and making people think. I love when you talk about what's wrong with these types of films and what's wrong with the movie industry because it inspires me to use the aspects you talk about in your "Wrong with.." videos and others and make ideas I have better and throw away the ones that can't be more than cliché. I don't want to contribute to the type of Hollywood that it is today. I hope to be able to have the opportunity to put my work out there and not end up working a job I don't like instead. Cuz not only having the honour of you reviewing one or multiple of my films but just having it out there and hopefully getting good critical acclaim. I do have one film idea with found footage but nothing to do with horror. It has to do with a girl or boy being the daughter/son of someone famous either movie/tv and I was thinking maybe reality star. And that their family and they start getting more And more harassed by paparazzi and others. And this person documents it as this person goes into a downward spiral of depression because of negative attention, rumours, etc. And it would be little bits here and there so it makes sense that someone wouldn't be filming every moment. I don't know....anyway hope you have a great week Chris! Enjoy Comic-Con. I sincerely hope you have a great time and that every day is better. Hope all is well with your wife and cat,
Anthony
Are you going to review Straight Outta Compton?
Alejandro Esparza props will when it comes out
I'd rather see the Gallows band = )
Andy Simm probs?
Alejandro Esparza I know he will review that movie because he can relate to N.W.A. Growing up in the mean streets of Ohio
Rafael Trivino I think Chris has criminal past
Chris, could you do a review on Princess Mononoke. You reference it a lot, but you have never reviewed it
Are you gonna be uploading recordings of your panel? If you can that would be frickin' awesome!
Congrats on the Comic Con, dude! Your channel is awsome! You deserve it!
Watching this review years afterward, I'm so glad to see how awesome horror has been for the last couple of years. I hope it stays that way into the next decade.
Damn funny review Chris, keep it up!
I love the community between the CZcams movie reviewer guys. I wish Flickster could join you guys on more things. It would be cool to see Chris, John and Jeremy all in the Schmoes Know studio!
Been a fan for a while and all your reviews are honest and enjoyable to hear, thank you for the entertainment!
the most scariest thing ive seen in a movie was not even in a horror movie. it was in Mulholland drive, when the guy tells the other guy about his dream. then in plays out exactly like what he said whith probably the most terrifying jump scare at the end. and the movie kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time after that. these movies need to take some notes on that scene
Can someone tell me the twist? It's not like I'm gonna watch it but I really wanna know the twist lol.
SPOILER
SPOILER
The theater geek the main character has a crush on is the daughter of the girlfriend of the boy who was killed in play 20 years ago. She's in cahoots with Charlie to kill the other characters and forces the main character to hang himself to stop the killing.
Gaugzilla wtf.
My reaction to the twist was like Chris'.
Wow, that's just stupid.
Gaugzilla so then when does the rest of the movie not make sense?
Gosh this review was freaking hilarious. My favorite moments: 2:11 2:29 2:42 Chris, so funny man! :D Keep it up. You do such a great job concisely summing up the pros and cons of films and breaking apart why some things works and other things don't. Look forward to seeing your panels at comic con!
This comment will scare you more then the movie.
I once woke up and found a picture of my self sleeping on my iPhone.
I live alone....
Damn
😐
Wow, this even has a better righting!
President Jeb Bush sell that idea to warner bros, film it with an i phone 6... get rich as fuck
This sounds like it would make a better movie.
I went and saw this last night, it was actually pretty satisfying and entertaining. Yeah the story and characters lacked polish, but there were some genuinely scary things that happened in the last movie (that were NOT jump scares) and the overall visuals in the movie were eerie.
Where does Chris get his cool t-shirts from???????
One of the best jump scares I ever saw and it was telegraphed, I saw it coming, I know it is and still gets me every time, is the bullet scene from the first House movie.
When I was in highschool I was in a theatre program and every October we would make horror movies based on whatever the topic was that our director gave us. One year we were to make a movie based on our theatre ghost. The group I was in decided to do a found footage in an old theatre we were given access to. The guy who had the camera kept it as steady as possible and we had no jump scares. Instead everyone would disappear one by one and we would show the "ghost" every once and while singing a kids song since she died while a child. It was very creepy and everyone had goosebumps after seeing it. Of course we didn't win the competition that year. The winner was the one who put in a fake jump scare that was easy to spot but made everyone scream.....
Chris you should watch steins;gate
Most overrated anime
luigixroxas i'd give that to Naruto
ThePsychoRenegade I'd give that to any Shounen. Steins;gate actually requires a working brain to understand it.
Matt Heitkamp yes chris, one of the best anime i ve seen!
Matt Heitkamp Fuck yes!
It has a great concept so I really hope it's gonna be remade well in 10 years or so. If I were to make it I would have a shot from cctv in the school looking down at the school corridor. One of the main characters walks past. About 10 seconds . The killer walks past. It would be such a chilling scene
What a great coincidence that I watched the original Carrie today with both movies having school as the major setting. Now that you mentioned use of music in horrors, Carrie has had excellent use of sound and music to heighten the tension and to set the mood especially just before and during THAT prom scene. The use of music and sound in Carrie was perfect and original making Carrie all the more sympathetic.
hey chris, where can we watch your panels from comic con. Cant go as i live in New Zealand
This was very frustrating to watch because the characters were really stupid.
Chris, I highly recommend you watch "Afflicted." It's a great Canadian found footage horror film.
I would've loved to have come meet you and Jeremy, but it's so hard to get tickets there D:
That twist reaction was exactly my reaction to the twists in Arkham Knight.
i have a question: is there anyone right now in hollywood who can write and direct a great horror movie besides James Wan/Leigh Whanell???
Hmmm well A24 movies are pretty good!
Thumbnail says it all
Will those events at Comic Con be streaming online anywhere?
Hey Chris, this might be a stupid question, but I've never been to any con in my life, but how to I get my ticket to the event or do I show up and buy tickets there?
Nearly every movie in the found footage genre is the same movie. There's a ghost/unusual thing, some people film it, jump scares happen for no real reason, the actors are as interesting as paper, the movie's budget is the same as a bag of Cheetoes, and ninety sequels are made. I just summed up most, if not every, found footage movie.
"HAHA CHARACTERS................ FUCK!!!" - Chris Stuckmann
chris, the thing you said about using 2 cameras was also in rec 2. ^^
hey Chris, i've been watching you for a bit now and i notice that you always have cool anime t-shirts, where do you get them from? would love to get a few.
interesting concept, absolutely unexcusably piss poor everything else
The vinegar is strong in this review, I like it when Chris slowly losses his cool and starts cursing more and more as the review goes on, you can just see how done he is with this bullshit, is hilarious!
Hey, congrats on doing panels at the con! Have fun!
Awesome to hear that you are going to be at Comic Con!
That awkward moment when an episode of Stranger Things is scarier than this movie
So this is basically Goosebumps Phantom of the Auditorium but with the swag generation. Yeah I'll pass.
Chris! Can you please do an analysis of Fight Club? I'm really interested in what you can find out about it :)
Uh it's Cassidy Gifford not Cassidy Spilker; changed the description man :) love your reviews!
Chris, it would be a dream come true if you comment hi.
hi
CanOn TheCounter lol
CanOn TheCounter Close enough I guess.
Chris i HIGHLY recommend you check out the film "Kill List." It's one of the most well written, shot, suspenseful, and horrifying films i have ever seen. Just go in blind, it's much better that way.
THIS. Kill List is one of my all-time favorite movies, and so few people have seen it. It's seriously brilliant; every frame holds a piece to the puzzle. It's so, so good.
Spurdian for sure!
Dude I love your shirt. Where'd you get that?
When's your next hilariocity review coming? Love your channel Chris! Keep up the great work!!!
do spoiler review on this movie. I wont be watching it lol
I mostly watched it for the scare factor, and I thought it delivered.
literally everything you stated was exactly how I felt, and this is not the first time. I enjoy every one of your movie reviews and I am so glad I came across your channel this year. Keep up the good work, I can tell this is what you were meant to do.
anyone know how much it is to go to that event or if its to late or where to find tickets if its not too late
God, I wish that Chris had done a video on The Pyramid.
I just reallly want to hear what he'd rip in to.
That movie was a slow burn for me. It was bad in the first place but then you start thinking and realize it's even _worse_ than it seemed before.
Just, all the implications it brings up. The only thing I liked was the idea of the pyramid having a triangular base rather than a square one.
Shamazya agree. he walked out of that movie. sadly, he didn't even made a rant review for it. :(
Shamazya Aww I liked that movie. Yeah it hilariously changed from apparently found footage to not found footage partway through which was stupid. But I thought the premise was cool, especially for people who love ancient mysterious stuff. I did expect it to be supernatural but I expected a mummy and got something else so I thought that was cool, I HATE when movies are just what you expect it's so boring.
Isn't this movie a rip off of a Goosebumps book Phantom of the auditorium?
The phantom of the Auditorium might even be a copy of the Phantom of the Opera.
Heather Gonzalez so this movie is a shitty rip off of the basic premise of the phantom of the oprah?
Tardisman HAHAHA PHANTOM OF THE OPRAH!!!
Eddie Marz Remove all the romance and drama, set it today, and make the villain an actual phantom, then you have this movie.
Tardisman hahaah no I just think it's funny that you said oprah (like oprah winfrey) and not opera
woah i love the outro sound!
i dont know if you already reviewed Grave Encounters but i would love to see and hear your thoughts on that movie :D
Jeremy jahns Chris stuckman and angry joe only reviewers I trust for movies and video games
100% agree
I actually really enjoyed this movie...
Same, it had it's moments
At least I am not the only one.
Great review as always Chris. Blumhouse is a hit or miss when it comes to all of these paranormal movies. I did enjoy the idea and execution of Unfriended and anticipating Sinister 2, but there are too many filler projects in their roster *cough* Ouija.
I’m so glad you brought this up and this makes me so mad LOUD NOISES ARE NOT FEAR. FEAR IS FEAR.
Worst movie I saw in 2015, by far. This movie was only 1 hour and 20 minutes long, but I was so annoyed and bored by it, it felt like 3.
... i could not get past the first 15 minutes. i originally watched 10 minutes. tried again and gave up after 5. i really dislike lame reasons to 'film' everything in a movie. worst, i really REALLY hate the character holding the camera.
I think I made it just as far. Can't remember.
Can someone explain to me the screening process or how I can get tickets to one near me?
Hi, What do you think of the sequel to The SInister. Do you think there sholud be one or you think is for money. Also, what did you thought of the first movie.
Hopefully you can find that fifth grade story and release it to us. My siblings made a movie in a school owned by some friends of the family where hooded figures menaced them. It was just a "homemade" movie but surprisingly disturbing. It was filmed at the same school where part of The Prophecy was filmed.
Loving the shirt Chris! Awesome review, as always
I liked this concept when it was part of Scream 2... Which I just remembered as I was thinking, Wes Craven would have taken this concept, shot it straight, and kicked it's ass 😢🐼
I do agree that the camera footage split showing the different point of views of the same moment was it was a great idea but, that could also be done non-found footage with a great editor.
Personally I'm giddy that Crimson Peak is almost here; I was hoping it was going to be Guillermo Del Toro's take on the Roger Corman & Vincent Price gothic Poe movies... with dream cast! I wonder if Tom Hiddleston can do Vincent Price impersonation… That I'd like to see.
Now I'm going to watch your video on unfriended which I felt like a car crash I just had to luck… But I didn't see much😏
Good show again sir! Hope you had a great time at comic con and I'll be watching that screen junkies fight because you and them "fighting" is a win-win situation for me!
HAPPY COMIC CON!!! From a french fan that can't come to san diego :(
First Chris Stuckmann video I've ever watched and I've noticed at least 5 things in his room that he owns that I also own. Pretty cool :D
I was planning on seeing this when it came out. Would it really be worth it at all?
Love the "tweaked" intro.
It's kinda awesome.
Congratz on the comic con too
Will you be reviewing Me and Earl, and the Dying Girl?
Love your reviews man. I really wanna know the twist because (lets be honest) for movies like this, I'm not going to even entertain going to see another found footage movie. Maybe I'll see it when it comes to dvd to rent for dirt cheap.
Why am I always getting ads in spanish before Chris' videos.
See you at Comic Con!
