- Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp and singer/songerwriter of the band's greatest hits performs at the request of Princes William and Harry at the Princess Diana Concert. Roger's classic, Give a Little Bit, gives a universal message. Even though Roger wasn't feeling well on the day of the concert, he still performed at the Princess Di charity event.
"I knew that Princess Di was a fan of my songs "Dreamer," "Give a Little Bit," "It's Raining Again," and others, too. So, I was very, very happy to be invited by the Princes to play for the memorial tribute to their mother. It was a very powerful moment for me. Although I never got to see Supertramp live, I DID get to see Roger back in 2014ish - totally on my bucket list. Roger is an uplifting and exuberant performer who clearly loves what he does. Eye of the Storm was the album that convinced me to learn to sing and play keys in a band. Inspiring!

Don't forget they were a duo writing partnership - speaking of Roger with Rick Davies. Rick had a lot to do with Supertramp's success, too. Each would contribute pretty much equally in every album (alternating Roger and Rick tunes). And the 3 other members were outstanding musicians who certainly brought in their contributions, too. Admittedly, Roger has more radio hits than Rick but the latter had more rocking, progressive numbers which, to me, were fascinating to listen to.

Roger's humorous introduction and his performance of 'Give a little bit' to such a huge audience brought a real big smile on my face. He fully deserved his spot here. He was the soul of Supertramp. And like any soul, he lives on ... :)
By the way, the song 'Give a little bit' was on the album "Even in the quietest moments" ... ( Not on "Breakfast in America" ... which came out a couple of years later)

Absolute magic and when they played Fools Overture at the end, it was stunning.

Je redécouvre toujours Roger, chaque fois que je regarde le chanté "Give A Little Bit" Que les vidéos soit d'aujourd'hui ou plus anciennes c'est toujours un émerveillement, comme une belle journée de soleil. De l'album " Even in the Quietest Moments" sortie en 1977 est une composition de Roger qu'il joue à merveille sur sa guitare 12 cordes son inséparable "Sophie" complice de moments intenses qu'il vit lorsqu’il interprète c'est petits trésors de bijoux qu'il soit ou non sur scène. I like so much supertramp. I saw them on a concert in Madrid at 80's. Hodson placed on left side and Davies on the right so far from Roger. It was the prelude of the dissolution of Supertramp. I was disappointed for that but their music still touch my heart y Roger Hodson is one of my favourites singers and composers.

Let's just be honest. Roger was, and frankly still is, Supertramp. While Rick is out there destroying the bands legacy by playing half filled bars with second class musicians, Roger continues to inspire the masses.
