    Kladdkaka: "Sticky cake"
    150 grams of butter
    3 dl of white sugar
    2 dl of white flour
    1 dl of cocoa
    7,5 ml vanilla sugar
    a pinch or two of salt
    owen at 175 degrees celcius. Bake for 10-12 min. preferably in a spring pan. outside should be quite firm but middle should be very slimy. Serve cooled with whipped cream. keep in mind the cake isnt supposed to be any taller than 2-3 cm as there is no baking powder in it.
    the number one most important thing is to MIX BY HAND very gently with a wooden spoon. You DO NOT want ecxessive air in your cake, that only makes it dry and not sticky as the name implies it should be.
    you can add stuff to it if you want, crushed cashew nuts or bits of dark chocolate for example.
    Swedish Gordon Ramsay out.

    Most swedes don't know about this. But the concept _lagom_ actually stems back from an older term _laget om_ in swedish. Meaning "around the team" or "team around" in english. Both meanings are sort of grammatically included. It goes like no one is supposed to grab more than sufficient enough for everyone in the team. Not too much or less, just enough for all people including its context. Explaining why this term has to do with both being *quantitative* and *qualitative* normative - in any social situation.

    Yes, Sweden has good chefs and Sweden belongs to the top tier of good chefs, Sweden is often in the top 3 when it comes to the world's most prestigious cooking competition, Bocuse d'Or. Since then, there is great interest in the Swedish people to cook from scratch and that the ingredients should have good quality and preferably the Swede chooses organic ingredients. We Swedes do not go out and eat as much as you Americans do. In Sweden, it is common to have dinners at home with friends and acquaintances. Of course, all food is made from scratch, no cheating with semi-finished products. The same thing, we Swedes are good at baking cakes, pies and pastries at home.

    the ``lagom`` definition got a bit odd in this video.
    its more like , not to much , not to little. and it can more or less be applied to anything with a quantity. for example. 2 eggs, a slice of bread and some bacon is what u could call a portion that is lagom for most people.

    Fact: We have minimized scrap going to landfill like on a huge scale! In 20 years we have gone from 1.000.000 tonne a year to landfill down to 30.000 tonne a year. And of the the household waste, only 0,5% is ending up in landfill (and some of that is the ash that comes from burning the waste that goes to incineration, and when we burn it, we use it to get energy for heating and electricity).

    We Swedes are a little funny. Some think that the word "lagom" is so special and unique for Sweden, meaning like; not to much, not to little. And we seem a little ashamed of that word. "It's so typically Swedish", some Swedes say, "like not having a definite opinion". But that's not true, at least not for me. I mean, If I put milk in my coffee I want it perfect or "just right", as you said here. Then it's "lagom". So "lagom" means "perfect" for me, just a more humble way to express it (and the more humble way is maybe very Swedish). I mean, the amount of milk doesn't differ between "lagom" and "perfect" in my coffee. Does it in yours? I guess not. So we should be more proud of that word. It's not a "lagom" word. It's a perfect word.

    • @DonChillum
      @DonChillum Před 3 lety +1

      Nothing better than lagom. Perfect is sharp and so filled with expectations, full of pressure to reach a certain point. While Lagom is just the right amount of effort vs reward. Of comfort and discomfort. Of life itself. Lagom is a way of life and I truly think it has to do with our very clear seasons. Always enjoying what we have, for the moment, for tomorrow you might as well need to change tires to be able to go buy groceries, even if you enjoyed the warmth of the sun today, and the apples you enjoyed might be the last for the year if you didn't pick them when you had the chance.

    THERE IS A PERFECTLY GOOD TRANSLATION OF "LAGOM" IN ENGLISH, IT'S MODERATE!!! I can't believe people miss that.. We just use it for more situations.

    • @albertakesson3164
      @albertakesson3164 Před 3 lety +1

      Litteral translation don't always equal to the exact cultural relevance in languages. Having stuff in moderation doesn't translate into the societal spirit of lagomness, interpersonally it's about relation to one's context. Not just as an individual. Meaning _lagom_ doesn't really associate with the cultural meaning of "moderate" living. Even though these words are kind of synonymous, maybe(?). But here's an example;
      *there's a political party in Sweden called **_Moderaterna_* (eng. "The Moderdates"). *In Sweden, this party is pretty much considered the antithesis of "lagom". Because they're rightist conservative, not even centrists in a political sense.*
      Do you see what I mean? The bottom line is that it's a cultural phenomena, not just a word.

      Vi har aldrig arbetat så lite som nu. Vi har aldrig bott så billigt som nu. Vi har aldrig haft så billig mat som nu. Det har aldrig varit så bra som det är nu.
      Och ja, det finns alltid små avvikelser men man tittar på helheten.
      Ta bara en så enkel sak som att vi har bot mot sjukdomar som var omöjliga att bota för 20-30 år sedan!

      @@Xanthopteryx Du snackar inte lite skit. Utvecklingen på bostadsmarknaden är av stor betydelse både för hushållens privatekonomi och för den totala samhällsekonomin. I Sverige har priserna stigit kraftigt sedan slutet av 1990-talet. Sett till perioden från 2017 och framåt har dock prisuppgången för småhus generellt följt en lite flackare bana. Men det har aldrig varit så billigt att bo som nu tydligen....

    Iam sure your country is beautiful but your taxes are through the roof. Tax rate of 50% over 40000kr ($4800.00 US) is crazy.......$50K US you would pay 31% 0n the 4,800.00 US and then 50% on 45,200.00 US for a total of $24,088.00 US.....Thats insane....

      You don't have to worry about going bankrupt if you ever need to visit the hospital like you would in the US. Will happily pay the higher taxes and not pay for health insurance, college tuitions, and adding 30% to the bill every time I go to a restaurant. The fact that most Americans live paycheck to paycheck speaks volumes about the benefits of having "low taxes".
