- My Dad and I have always dreamed of building our very own log cabin. When we started, I had no idea how important and profound this build would become to me. After building the cabin from the ground up, we headed inside to bring the interior to life.

He has lost his dad and his mom during this build and his wife has been ill battling cancer. Much has gone into the building of this cabin to create a get-away, safe haven and legacy for his daughter and future generations. He deserves all of our prayers and blessings! 🙏🏻

My boyfriend was watching this , this morning and left the tv on. I ended up watching the whole video. I was so into the work until I saw the chair with his Dad's sweater and boots. My heart sank! Your dad taught you so much!!! Everything you build will still be there when your daughter is a grandmother - should that be the path she takes. It's wonderful that you have all the footage of your Dad - I suspect there will be many times in which it brings you comfort - and pain but that's part of life. He'd be so proud of the job you've done and what you continue to build. Thank you for this - it was wonderful to see it come together so quickly, in spite of having watched for years now. Just lost my dad 3 weeks ago and wasn’t sure about watching this episode. I have watched since the beginning so I knew I had to. I cried almost the whole time, happy tears for the good memories your father left you. Loved the end, it was like your father had his arms wrapped around your family. Brother this video is better than a lot of Hollywood movies I’ve paid to see! So sorry for your losses and life’s challenges. That is an epic build by two gifted master carpenters! The cinematography throughout is gorgeous and so very well edited! The acrylic back door a masterpiece! However all of the foregoing is topped by the glorious ending that was so tearfully touching! You are fortunate to have these videos of you and your dad building things and memories together. My dad passed away 8 years ago and all I have are a few of his tools and memories. The cabin is a very handsome and sturdy building, just like your dad. He built that cabin with you. I don't think there was anything left unsaid. He didn't suffer and his son loved him. What an amazing way to go. Name the cabin after him so your sons and daughters will never forget what a great grandpapa they had.

This episode, unfortunately, made me cry remembering all of the previous chapters with you and your dad. Considering today's world, your dad is definitely in a better place. I love that you and your dad had this cabin and each other in his last thoughts. I lost my dad when I was 13. It sucks no matter how old you are. You will always be with your dad whenever you are in the cabin. Maybe hard on the heart right now, but when you are ready you have all these wonderful videos to look at and hear his voice again. Our sincerest condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to you and your family. What a beautiful way to pay tribute to the man that started it all. This cabin icons the memories gone by and the future ones to come. One day I hope I can do something similar with my son. This life is so precious and time waits for no one. I didn't get a chance to build a cabin or a car or anything that fathers typically do with their sons but now I have a chance with my son and promise to God I won't squander it. My sister and I used to help him build and he would always jokingly say we were cheap, unskilled labor, (We had no clue what we were doing, but it was fun to help). You are a very lucky man, as am I. Three or so days before my Dad passed away,, we spent an afternoon in the shop. Building machines for his experiments, electrical connections, small parts and large. I with stronger hands,, and better eye handling the largest and the smallest. The shop was always a feature for my Dad and I. We lived and worked in his shop or mine. To be allowed to work a day with him was always a pleasure, and to be allowed to spend one of his very last days, in the shop, with him. I am a lucky man, as are you. Years before when he had his first heart attack,,,, I wrote. I hope it brings comfort
The Workshop
The rewards of life
I worked today in the woodshop for my father
It stands behind his house between pines and oak
Cast iron wood stove for heat warming near
Something satisfying about the burning
Of wood split and stacked last year
I arrived when he was out, his age of doctors and shuffled tread
Snowing out, and I walked through untracked morning
So gentle soft of flake filtering down, sifting down
That not past the first hour walking back for coffee
White on white and those first tracks beneath the new snow, gone.
Asked to help and he offered to pay my time
The power saw needing some clean and reset
My eye younger though no longer young and true
Hands stronger on the wrench for stubborn bolts
Durable, a good word, to stand and fix so he can use.
I set the saw here, not new even then,
Near thirty years ago, running well as yet
My Father watched and talked of how to, as did I
Fathers and sons yet competing to be right
A pleasant and enjoyed tussle these winter days
His heart stopped for awhile last August.
Somehow I knew it from far away at sea.
I nodded off, he stood before me naked
Saying, "We need to talk." his specter clear
He still lives and time with is cherished, savored.
The shoe marks are gone again, layered up
and smoothed once more between the house and shop.
Another coffee, two this time to tend
Flavored well with sawdust and pleasant talk
Today's jobs and sweat moving on toward the days end.
He had to be somewhere else before I finished
He'll insist on paying and I'll accept
A penny or a thousand for my day, it matters not
Payment 'ceived and gratefully, so greatfully accepted
Long before the money viewed, or time bought
The snow falls so straight and softly down
No wind today to speak of
Just the fading light of afternoon
A good days work, a good days pay.
Good enough are these rewards when due
In life to be payed thrice for a single day,
satisfaction of a well done job,
money for pocket, wife and home,
And yet again, as when a youth,
to work a day with Him

I've watched you build over the course of a few years. Commented about how your relationship with your dad reminded me of my own. Then my dad got brain cancer. While he was recovering, your dad passed away. Well, my dad also just passed away a couple of weeks ago.

The man left quite a wonderful legacy in all that you did together, all that he taught you and before all that - in the woman he chose to be your mother. I know it still breaks your heart but that cabin is full of the love they shared for you. They are with you every day.
