BMW i8 | Details up close HD | Hybrid Supercar

BMW says its futuristic i8 goes on sale by next June, starting at $136,625.
BMW's "i" designation refers to its alternative-power models.
While the i3, on sale a month or two sooner than the i8, is a battery-power small car, the i8 is a very high-performance, plug-in hybrid sports car.
It uses a three-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine rated 231 horsepower, mated to a 131-hp electric motor.
The car will jump from standstill to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, BMW says.
To keep weight down, the i8 uses carbon-fiber construction, similar to the i3's.
The i8 is considered a 2+2, meaning it has regular front seats, and abbreviated rear seats for occasional use.
