What I love about Sheldon is that he's completely harmless, & it's not in him to personally offended any one or race for that matter. He's so damn intelligent that he's so far ahead of everyone inside his mind, but completely so disconnected with everyone @ the same time. His complete oblivion is what makes him so funny.

Sheldon is the shows pressure valve much like Spike was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He does or says the things that are socially inappropriate because deep down we've all thought it, thought about it before, or wished we could do it. If you're someone who is into character profiling you might find his development kind of disappointing in how they treat him like a high functioning autistic person one day and an emotionless narcissist the next.
