That includes how fast you are tailgating, what is the road conditions like & sense to judge how much distance you required to stop your car at the speed you travelling. By law you should have time to say thousand &1, thousand & 2 before passing the tree that the car infront of you passed.

Actually, there is another MASSIVE problem with the question: The question doesn't specify at what speed the car was driving, which in reality is what determines how far behind you need to be. I am currently taking a drivers license, and the rule of thumb (where I live) is that you need to be minimum around 2-3 seconds behind the car in front of you... while not exactly perfect, it at least tries to take into account your reaction time and speed.

As people earlier noticed, Sheldon is a savant - most savants are geniuses in a specific area while having a very child-like nature and not ready for real life. Sheldon is a savant, so genius in one area, but not life-experienced, and thus, he needed someone like Penny by his side because Penny had a life experience and was very practical. And that is why Sheldon friendship with Penny was also the best one - they really learned from each other as opposites, yet ended up liking each other, and that is why it was entertaining to watch them together.
The writers did not make him a ‘savant.’ I’ve read all the books written on TBBT and the writers are adamant he was just a genius, even proclaiming it at the Comic-Con conventions. Stop making things up.

This has nothing to do with experience . Intelligent people see patterns others don’t . When the person is a genius and outspoken they verbalize why others are wrong ( but the receipt can’t relate because they don’t know and can’t operate at the level ). The reason why the geniuses lose the argument socially and objective sometimes even though they are right is because people are not like that . Since the majority of people think alike they would accept whatever agreed up rules and established truths and because they are ruling majority they basically force the accepted notion . Sometimes however the recipient may cross paths with you again in the future when they have understood what you said through an experience or something else and they may disclose it to you.

absolutely hilarious scene, as all scenes were brilliant in the early seasons. This scene perfectly represents the problem with Sheldon: savants like Sheldon are geniuses in one, specific field of their study but they often don't have 'street smarts' (as Penny has) and enough real-life experience, and thus, are often not prepared at all to face real-life problems. And I know quite a few theoretical physicists and geniuses, who are exactly the same, and have the same problems! 😂 The show and the writers def portrayed this part in a genius way: hilarious and close to real life at the same time because again, most savants act exactly like Sheldon here.

Lowkey I hate that my mind works like Sheldon's cuz I was thinking shit like this the whole time I was prepping for my learners permit test. And I ask questions constantly even approaching my drivers test. I asked my dad the other day at what point is too early using the passing lane to prepare for an upcoming turn onto a different road and he was just like "idk it probably isn't that big of a deal" like bruh that shit matters to me especially if I ever have a conversation with a cop about that particular scenario lmao
