  • The history of Jeffrey City, Wyoming from its early days when it was called “Home on the Range” through its boom years to its bust days when the new high school that was built but never opened for classes, businesses shut down, and many of the buildings were auctioned off.

We stopped in at the Sage Brush Inn (or bar- my memory is faint here) there in Jeffery, a rough looking bar initially, but full of friendly locals. They insisted we (females) not pay for any drinks-- it was a sweltering hot day..... we were introduced to Beer Floats--- a memory to last a life time ! :)

Never heard of the Sage Brush Inn, the Split Rock Bar has been their forever. There's some good Fishing around Jeffery City. Cheers

I terrorized that town in 1972 at 16 years old. Had a 1960 blue Volvo. Local cop hated me.

I have a lot of bad memories of living here. No matter what the population was it was still just a mining camp. There were a lot of drunkards and a lot of predators here.
