These were all my heros then! I was 21 and had my own bands and this was the kind of music we loved and lived to play! Still love it best at 84.😂

I am a huge Krupa fan but I really wish they would have given Zutty a solo. I don't know if there is any known video footage of him playing one?

Seems like this video was edited. I'm sure if there were two drummers with such big names they would have split the solos equally and this seems like it's all Krupa. I'd like to even see them trade 4s like a mini drum battle. Krupa is a showman but he has always mentioned Zutty Singleton as one of the great pioneers of jazz drumming so I'm sure he would have insisted Zutty get equal billing.

I have this on VHS. although I haven't watched it in a long time (I don't even own a VCR at this point), I seem to remember that the New Orleans musicians and their music fiilled a bit more than half the air time, especially the first half. It was strucutred to reflect the history of New Orleans jazz musicians leaving the up the Mississippi to Chicago in the 1920s, where they influenced a bunch of white kids from Austin High on the South Side of Chicago. I did not get the imipression that the black musicians were short shrifted at all.

Hi. I was wondering by any chance if you had the lp JATP Hartford 1953? It was on youtube at one point but got removed. If so if you could post it. Thanks.

I do but I’m not sure if I have it digitally. I know I have it on LP. I’ll need to check.

Hi. Thanks for responding. Were you able to find it digitally or convert it?

Roger Hn it doesn’t look like I have a digital copy. I don’t have my turntable currently setup so I’m not able to transfer it from the lp. I’m hoping to have someone set everything up for me soon (I have physical issues).

If you’re able to post it some day that would be great.
I remember Buddy Rich performed on the Merv Griffin show in 1986 and played on his set. If I remember correctly he backed the house band and soloed. Do you by any chance have this footage? Thanks.
