  • As it takes off, you can hear one of the engines is being switched off. then, the rudder is bent to its maximum to compensate the torque.
    That's one of the tests the A330neo has been performing in the last few days.

    Actually, it can't take off on one engine. You can hear what happened. It was using full throttle on both engines, then when they reached V1, the right engine was completely pulled back and throttled to 0% and the left engine then proceeded to take them up, but alot slowly (climb rate not actualy airsapeed), you can see it's kind of struggling a little to get up there, just watch the back of the planet where the tail strike buffer is, watch how slowly the distance between that and the ground changes, very slow lift. 1 Engine is powerful, but it'd never get them up to speed in time to take off on a runway alone. Just wouldn't have the power to get them fast enough for Rotation in time. Thus why you hear full power from both engines until they hit V1. You're welcome

    Notice the pitch adjustment just after liftoff, slightly nose down to not kill the speed gain.

    Even on one engine it probably still has more power than the A340-300 haha

      @worldlinerai Před 6 lety +3

      At least, this A330-900 is lighter than the A340-300 so it doesn't require as much power to takeoff.

      Stop bashing the A340-300 man ... it's a great aircraft. My friend was on a flight from Frankfurt to Tampa and he came in on the A340-300 ... I tracked the entire flight and it flew for 10 hours across the Atlantic ocean, cruising at about 556mph ... 10 hours later, she emerges in the distance and I watch as she gracefully comes in to put a 10 hour journey to an end ... you gotta have great appreciation when a machine like that is coming from thousands of miles away.

      Every modern airliner must demonstrate the ability to do exactly this at Maximum takeoff weight. This is all part of the certification process before it can fly for any airline.

      @@tonyquigley6543 Not sure. Who you're replying to. Technically yes, it indeed took off with one engine providing takeoff thrust. It was still on the ground when the engine "failed." 2nd without knowing the declared runway distances, slope, atmospheric conditions, takeoff weight or power setting we have no idea what V1 was; let alone if this engine cut occurred at V1. I mean, if we're going to split hairs here, let's make sure to split em all, eh? 😅
