  • 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band- J Reid Maxwell - Drum Solo Set- Farewell to Erin, Paddy Be Easy, Rocking the Baby, Haste to the Wedding, Dunrovin Farm
Since conception in 1982, The 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band has been an international leader in bagpiping and drumming, boldly presenting innovative music with subtle hints of Celtic tradition. The band is a force that promotes the continuous improvement of musical skill-set through teaching, concert performances and professional competitions. The band travels to Scotland every year to compete on the international stage at the most advanced level (Grade 1) in the World Pipe Band Championships. The group holds 12 Canadian Championship titles, 12 North American Championship titles, a ranking position as one of the top 12 bands in the world 20+ times, as well as a very prestigious and historic title: that of being the first non-Scottish pipe band to win the World Championships in Grade 1 (1987).
The 78th team has performed for packed halls in various parts of Canada, the United States, Northern Ireland and Scotland. The band has professionally produced 8 recordings, with "Live in Ireland" being the most sold pipe band recording of all time. These albums help reinforce the level of artistry and talent demanded by the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band.
The band is led by Pipe Major, Doug MacRae and Drum Sergent, Drew Duthart; with Bass player, Johnny Rowe and Lead Tenor, Matt Bellia supporting the mid-section of the band. Doug MacRae has a 17 year legacy with the band as well as a solo bagpiping career which include The Piobaireachd Society (Canada) Gold Medal, The North American Piobaireachd (Maxville) and the Kansas City Silver Medal. Drew Duthart brings 40+ years of pipe band service to The 78th team and in 2007, lead the drum corps of the 78th Frasers to win the World Drumming Championship. Johnny Rowe is also a world renowned drummer and was awarded 1st place in the World Bass Drum Championships in 2007. Matt Bellia is a top level Tenor drum player/teacher and brings distinct innovation and energy to the mid-section of the band.
