    In reality, there have been way more than 4. I counted 14, beginning since at least 1998 (Although one guy claimed the idea came to him in the 1970s). Those four are just the ones most publicized.

    • @WaterWorld1

      Agreed! For the sake of a video I simplified it to four.

      @@WaterWorld1 Some "proposals" have come from teenagers who started drawing up their own would-be blueprints in their parents' basement. Some were so obsessed with "authenticity" that the ship they proposed could never ever leave port, since it would have violated just about every modern regulation. I wonder how many passengers would want to board if they first had to sign a document where they agreed to travel on a super-polluting ship without enough lifeboats, without modern radar, even without modern bathroom facilities!

    • @transatlanticnostalgia4655
      @transatlanticnostalgia4655 Před měsícem +4

      @Cenindo I've seen someone on Encyclopedia Titanica propose that a 100% accurate Titanic replica be constructed, powered by coal and without modern navigational equipment, but that she be followed by a small modern boat, which will have that equipment, that will sail ahead of her, and notify the Titanic of any potential danger.

      @@transatlanticnostalgia4655That would be a sight to see. Will just be ecstatic when Clive is able to get his Titanic out in the ocean.

      No cruise port in the world can provide or handle coal these days! You can't build a exact replica today, due to the maritime safety laws.

    Well. Let’s hope this time this is it. Titanic 2. I’ll believe it once the keel is laid down. I do want to believe but we’ve been let down too many times now to get our hopes up again.

    Clive's is by far the most beautiful of these four. His Titanic is the right one. We're going to be okay.

    • @WaterWorld1
      @WaterWorld1  Před 29 dny +2

      Yes! Designers 'Deltamarin' are the "real deal". They have designed ships like "Oasis of the Seas". Tilburg do the best interior design.

    • @Kaidhicksii
      @Kaidhicksii Před 29 dny +2

      I would actually argue that Gous' project was a bit more beautiful due to not adding an extra deck in the hull to place the modern lifeboats uncovered for all to see, plus not having viewing galleries in the funnels. But then again, Clive was able to cleverly hide much of the radar equipment to where they're mostly out of view unlike Gous' project, and it's possible he'll find a way to put doors over the lifeboats, so it's fine.

    • @transatlanticnostalgia4655
      @transatlanticnostalgia4655 Před 29 dny

      @Kaidhicksii We don't actually know what Gous's Titanic II would look like. The image often used to represent his ship is actually a concept used in a 1998 issue of the Popular Mechanics magazine, to demonstrate what a hypothetical Titanic replica would look like.

    • @WaterWorld1
      @WaterWorld1  Před 29 dny

      @transatlanticnostalgia4655 I'm guilty as charged! Mind you when you make a video, you sometimes have to use any image that you can get! For example, there are no official images of Tit II's third class cabins.

  • @transatlanticnostalgia4655

    The Spanish Wikipedia article for Titanic II has a list of previous Titanic replica projects, along with their creators. It's very interesting, though it doesn't list Romandisea Titanic or the Czech "TitanIIc" project. If we were to add those, too, along with Clive Palmer's, we get a total of 16 known revival projects.

      Wow...I did not realise that there had been 16. Well spotted. I will have a look at Wiki. For my videos I have to make things simpler, to fit the info into a few minutes. People like short videos!

    The “Titan” ocean liner was designed to have 5 screws? Two wing screws on each side and a center screw sitting just forward of the rudder? Curious to know what his plans were as far as the propulsion configuration…Certainly you could not fit that many reciprocating engines and they wouldn’t produce the speed he wanted. If all turbine I could see that vessel being plagued by vibration issues and not to mention the fuel consumption to run that many engines and maintain a high service speed.

    • @WaterWorld1
      @WaterWorld1  Před 17 dny

      To be honest, the project spec was like an ocean liner "fans" wish list. Nothing about it seemed realistic to me. See: czcams.com/video/S-e_L3Flkf4/video.html For example, he wanted Harland and Wolff to build her, which they would be incapable of. The speed was not practical. Titanic II on the other hand is achievable. I have more SS Titan videos in my members area. (Memberdhip is cheap). The late Mr. Ricker approved them.

    Every titanic replica project seemed okay, until i saw the TITAN. The description about it is just plain ominous. Morgan Robertson wrote a book in 1898 called futility. It was about the world's largest ship, and the greatest works of men. It was sailing in april, and the ship struck an iceberg at night. The ship then sank quite quickly. This book predicted the sinking of the TITANIC and might predict the sinking of the SS TITAN, why do i think that? Because Morgan Robertson called his ship in his book, SS TITAN!!! There is no way im stepping aboard that ship, if it exists.

    • @WaterWorld1

      Good point. SS Titan was never likely to happen and certainly will not now.

  • @fmyoung

    The Titanic's troubles begin with her very name. Titanic is the adjective for Titan, and the Titans in Greek mythology were a race who waged war against Zeus, the so-called "god of gods." This is the part of the story that seems familiar to quite a few. The part that seems unknown to most, shipowners at the time included, is that - guess what - the Titans lost. So, the Titanic was eventually defeated by dint of her very name, as it were - and during her maiden voyage, at that .

    • @WaterWorld1
      @WaterWorld1  Před 27 dny

      Maybe palmer should call her "Olympic"?
