A video tutorial to get you through the very basics of Arma. A followup to my previous video answering the question "Should you buy Arma 3". I will follow this one up too with a more in depth mod tutorial if you are interested. I apologize again for choppy audio, I only had time for one take before I left on holiday. So I had to work with what I had. Hope you find this helpful anyways :D

I me 61 yrs old and have played games since i got a 486 pc with win 3.1 / 300m HDD and its the first time ive ever had to look here to find out how to even start the bloody game? Think it may be a bit much for this old brain lol.

Not that bad, the only one that matters is FXAA, set it to disabled and any PC can run Arma 3 on max settings, even with shadows.

For real, god damn, i went from struggling in the 40s at low to medium settings to 60 fps at max settings lol (i cant stand screen tearing and always turn on vsync)
I bought arma yesterday and alredy have 9001235678 hrs in the game. If you are counting all the dimensions i have played in.

Thanks for this, had to take some notes to get those settings without watching the video over and over but your process was well explained. Which order to lower settings in etc. Useful even for me with about 200hrs or so across Arma 2 and 3 just to improve my performance a bit on my laptop which was a bit of a downgrade for me.

The amount of mods for this game is unreal. I was glancing through the workshop last night after playing some vanilla Arma 3.
ive had arma 3 since release date and i still dont understand how to play properly...

Dacksy it all depends on how you want to play it. It's a sandbox if you want to play a fast paced shooter you play koth. If you want to play a zombie survival game go play exile. If you want to play single-player scenarios you can do that. Just do whatever you want to do.

settings are really great mate! I was running it on lower settings with worse FPS. This way I was able to bump up the graphics and gain about 15 FPS on average.
Even though this is 4 years later, I went from 40 fps to 100! Thanks so much
Thanks for this it was a real help. I’m a total noob to PC gaming in itself and recently bought a gaming laptop specifically for this game. I must have spent an hour alone trying to get into the tutorial itself, if only I’d seen this earlier!!! 🥺

Actually, turning OFF shadows and PIP will give you even more (And Object distance). This guy has a good PC he has no need to tweak for shit. But players who have a bad PC, know every single performance taker. And what I dont understand why he would do standart grapihcs setting, if he has a good pc
same bro some how even though I bumped things up to ultra didnt know my pc can handle
@@felixdunkelmut9624 I just play it with every single setting on ultra and max, in 1080p and dont want to mind all that stuff and it works great so far, bought it yesterday. Compared to Flashpoint Dragon Rising it still looks like shit in my oppinion though. Especially the first campaign mission where you fly over that ugly looking desolate wasteland with a helicopter. Dont know why they call these settings Ultra if it doesent even look much better than GTA 4 on Max settings

Best believe it’s 2 keys on 2 sides of the keyboard. Wanna heal yourself with that medkit you just picked up? Better hope it works or you’re shit outta luck. Thank you for coming to my Ted X talk. All griping rants aside, I’m having fun with arma so far, even if I’d gladly forgo some of the realism keys for convenience sake. But hey, it’s a military sim and that’s what you signed up for, I spose.

Thank you so much. I recently bought arma and was facing fps issues. After watching this guide my fps shot from 40-45 to 150. Blew my fuckin mind. After a few settings I'm getting constant 100 fps. So thank you very much. Your guide is helping even after all these years.

@@hypervenom6200 mate you must be playing at high settings then. I tuned them down to moderate. And then I'm getting 95-100 in game and around 150 outside in the menu and other places. And I got a 1060

Can someone help? I have a 1060 and I can play on ultra but when I get into a town or into a server my fps just plummets from 60 to 20 and ive tried playing on low but that doesn't change a thing

Wow, I'm only now learning this game has a server browser in the launcher. I don't know why, the tab is right there but I guess I was just only concerned with the mods tab and then sometimes the DLC tab.

i literally just go to eden editor, install like 40 mods (I have 50 mods installed rn) and make myself weird scenarios which last a few seconds, no clue what everything else is

I’m gonna write this comment to help people over here,
For arma 3 you must have at least over 5 GB’s of ram,
Make sure you have a GPU that is from 2008 <
Intergrated graphics won’t work for Arma that good unless you have an amazing CPU (I’m talking latest Ryzen CPU)
Now with Vsync, really depends on your specs , not just your monitor, you could have a 60hz monitor, but have a bad GPU, meaning Vsync will slow down your game.

Is it normal for your psu to spit flames and sparks go happen under the cpu heatsink? I think something is wrong or this game is a bit too heavy on my pc. Help

(Experiment) I tried to lunch Arma 3 in a window 8 and it actually work, but the only map I see its Chernarus map and a tiny island, Can I know why theres any Altis map??? I installed a mod or something when i installed it?
