Thank you for sharing this! It was a great event indeed and you captured the essence of what we do.
Thanks Kim! It was a lot of fun!
Smitty
I was there on the 5th of October. My first airshow, and the bar has been set incredibly high. The level of interaction was unbelievable. The wing of the B29 went over my head when it was taxing!
Awesome footage! I captured some too. As an amateur videographer I'd love to know what you used to shoot the footage. There was no way to change shutter-speed on my aging video-camera, but I am looking to invest in one that can in the future. Loving that full circle. At least the automatic shutter was still slow enough to allow the blades to blur somewhat in my video.
Thanks Dutch! We used a Nikon D7100 DSLR for the "straight on" video shots. The lens has the vibration reduction (VR) feature. We also have Zacuto viewfinder on the DSLR. The VR lens and viewfinder help to stabilize the video, giving 3 holding points while shooting, right hand on the camera grip, left hand on the lens and the eye piece on your face. The stills were shot by using an older Nikon D80 with a standard lens. The "from the ground up" shots were shot with a GoPro Hero 3+ Black on a Joby Octopus Tripod. It's a lot of stuff to carry around. A small backpack comes in handy. We bought a tool belt hammer holder from Lowes to hold the GoPro Octopus Tripod while shooting video and stills with the Nikons. Video editing was done using Adobe Premiere Elements 13. Hope this helps!
Thanks! I use sony vegas 10 Pro, which still holds up today. The camera I had was a HDR-CX7, one of the first consumer HD cameras that "faked" true HD, and even captures in interlaced format to boot. Nothing Sony Vegas can't handle making progresssive, but still. I would have loved a rig like yours!
The Dutch Texan I watched some of your videos on the car shows. You have a good eye for capturing what people want to see. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate the props! No pun intended.
