- The rain, the mud, the struggle, the crowds, their energy, Les Gets had it all. Sunday's UCI Mountain Bike XCO World Cup race delivered a slippery spectacle full of falls, comebacks & other exciting moments inside & outside the race tape. It was Loana Lecomte who dominated the women's field & Mathias Flückiger cemented his status as the rider to beat in 2021 in the men's.

Its funny watching everyone jump passed Andre Cink. The Olympic course is supposed to be insanely insanely technical, I doubt he has a chance at a podium if he doesn’t work on his skills. He is still a badass with power, but they said everyone crashed in the Olympic course testing.

Amazing riders, race, and coverage! Though the question is... why so few front fenders? There's no real weight penalty compared to all this mud. There's no drag, etc. Being able to see and not having your face covered with mud seems worthwhile. But I suppose it took mountain bikers a long time to figure out the worth of fenders as well.

@Merlijn how will she do something in Tokyo if she is racing the very same people 🤔. Loana will come back as olympic champion , she separate her self of the pack in every race , doesn't surprise me if she wins every race
Well if memory serves right, she crashed at Nove Mesto and got some fractured bones or something. She just back to racing at Les Gets. Not the best Olympic preparation.

It's astonishing how many bikes don't even have a mudguard on, is grams that important for them or? Because its certainly not visuals
if you’re on some else’s wheel you’re going to get caked in mud either way, mudguards are good if you’re riding solo
I imagine mudguards would hinder wheel changes a little during races after punctures etc and might be damaged in crashes and prevent or hinder cycling. And of course as you highlight it is extra weight.
