    Wow! Tommy Tiernan has just shown himself to be a masterful interviewer. Some veteran broadcasters could learn a thing or two from him. Love the way he gives Adam Clayton room (and time) to find and develop his thoughts, without jumping in with follow up questions, finishing sentences for him, or otherwise getting in the way. Superb interview all round. Kudos to Tommy and Adam Clayton for this.

I'm not sure how his accent would be considered in England (a friend of mine with what I thought was an English accent is considered to have an Irish accent in England) but he was born in England and his parents were English. I'd assume his parents accent is a big part of the way he speaks. Probably like Shane McGowan in England.

    Adam has an unusual accent. It's not Irish but it's not really English either. Perhaps somewhere in the middle? According to Wiki, he was born in England, but has lived in Ireland since he was 5 years old. That's a long time to live in a country and still have a hybrid accent.

    • @soeffingwhat
      @soeffingwhat Před 3 lety +2

      For filming concerts for official releases they normally film over 2 nights so they have extra footage to choose from. In this case they couldn't use anything from the first night cos Adam wasn't there. Stuart Morgan was Adam's Bass technician at the time, ie he looked after all of Adam's basses and Amplifiers, set them up before each show. As a bassist himself he knew the set from hearing it night after night so they did a rush rehearsal with him and did the first night. In the Book U2 by U2 they describe how difficult that night was. Adam too as he could hear the show happening in the distance without him. That concert is actually up on CZcams now. After The Fly Bono explains why Adam isn't there. Stuart Morgan plays mostly standing beside Larrys Drums but stands out a bit more during New Years Day. There's also a moment during that song where Bono walks behind Stuart and gives him a reassuring pat on the back. I'' add the link here if you like?

    "The drummer sux..the singer sux, the guitarist sux...the bass player sux..." etc., etc., blah, blah, blah.
    Ha! (watch the Premier Guitar interview with Dallas Schoo, or listen to Technical Masters Rick Beato, Tim Pierce, and Rhet Shull go On about how technically amazing this band Actually is).
    NO band EVER has spent more Thousands and Thousands of hours working their asses off as a Team.
    More frequently The Best. This band Still keeps me going So many times. I'm not behind every single item from their Massive trackload-but I'll put multiple songs from all eras up against most anything else. They needed to be popular so they steadfastly sought palatable radio play. They didn't make money for their first decade. Some of their biggest hits are my least favourite of their songs. And Bono's schtick can be horrible. But Walk On, Elevation, Miracle Drug, and many other shiny happy slightly watery tunes are overwhelmingly balanced by deep, dark, mysterious, mystical, outrageous, personal, sexy, funky tracks like Walk To The Water, Love Comes Tumbling, The Crystal Ballroom, Treasure, Love Is All That We Have Left, Love Is Blindness, Zooropa, United Colours (yes, i know, thanks), God pt II, All I Want Is You, Hawkmoon 269, The Book of Your Heart, ETC>, prove time after time that there is strength in their numbers.

    Less then average bass player. Couldn’t listen to his one note awfulness.
