- Ever wonder what Casablanca, Morocco is like? I try and dive deeper into this complex city, to find out what makes it truly unique (and awesome!). There's a lot to unpack here, but this is roughly what the city looks like...

Proud to see a young man taking real steps in the world! You are always welcome in Morocco!
I absolutely love Casablanca too. Like you said, traveling with an open heart and mind is the best way to go.
Nice vlog , I'm a morroccan and i just wanted to tell about the 60$ per night , that was to expensive you've could go to 5 star hotel with that price
60$ =about 600dhs
600 dhs = a lot of money
a lot of money = great experience
Cal McKinley i prefer North of morocco
Was it $60 a night for that crappy flat? Oh dear. I stay at the Almohades Hotel for £28 a night. It's 4 star. Behind the hotel is one of the most fantastic areas of art deco villas and mansions in all Casablanca. And behind them is the fabulous cathedral.
I, as a Moroccan, glad to know that you enjoyed being within us. hope you visit us again soon.
Sm3ti l feed back li wakhdin 3linna🙃 dirty dangerous ...
It is a unique and amazing place. I hope to visit soon. I have never been there but the CZcams videos about it are most enjoyable.
@@duanehastrich1460 you welcome. Bro you gonna enjoy it.
I have got opportunity to work in Casabalanca. Would you mind sharing things to know before I travel. Thanks in advance.
@@uday2see what particular things you wanna know about?
I lived in Casablanca for my entire life and you visited some places that myself have never been at lol
U have done exactly what people you know told you not to do, visiting dangerous places.. Hah! Love what you're doing Indiana Jones :D
haha thanks man! Glad you enjoyed
Me im living at the same time working here in casablanca i was came from saudi and its nice too there try to visit my country philippines
He was so lucky though
You mean, meeting the poors. uhm the casablanca's outsiders.
wonderful video ! what i actually liked about your video is that you ignored those touristy cites and fancy streets and restaurants of casablanca and you got to experience what the poor/middle class citizens live like
another think that caught my eyes is that your filming style is unique and i believe it takes you a lot of time to edit the videos
keep doing your thing , i subscribed immediately after watching this video and i believe many people will do once they see how amazing your videos are
* this is a little bit long but if you read it i hope i managed to update you on the situation
ps: i'd like to add one more thing even though many people have mentioned it
the moroccan map is a lot bigger and it includes the western sahara region
the reason most people use the map you used is because they see the dashed line that separates the northern and southern part of morocco and they see the name " western sahara" and they belivee it's another country
i'd like to cite some facts to enlighten you about the situation
1- morocco was colonised by france and spain
2 - spain took the southern and northern regions while france took the middle region
morocco took it's indepandance from france and spain in it's northern side in 1956
3- morocco took it's independance completely in 1975 when the famous green march occured and morocco freed the western sahara region
4- algeria and mauritania( enemies of morocco from a long time ago) brought some mercenaries and deployed them on the moroccan soil exactly in the southern region and those people acted as moroccans and lived there for a while later on they started demanding their own independance
5- hassan the 2nd the previous king of morocco kicked all of them and told them ( i quote ) " if you don't consider yourselves moroccans and if you don't take pride in the country that thousands of people died for then leave either to algeria or mauritania "
6- those people who call themselves POLISARIO live near the algerian moroccan border but on the algerian side
7- and the reason there is a dashed line in the moroccan map is because this case is still undecided by the U.N
8- what most people don't know is that moroccans have full authority on that are
and if you're still in morocco try outa city called DAKHLA which is a touristic city located in the "western saharian region of morocco and see for yourself how it is out there
Thanks for the support bro! I appreciate the kind words. The reason I used that map is that my research led me to believe that as of 2006, Morocco's claim to the Western Sahara is disputed and no U.N. Member state has recognized its claim to the region. It was a much more confusing situation than I thought but I actually put some thought into which map to use. Don't mean to offend anyone just going by the international community's guidelines :D
I don't understand something.
You come to Morocco, you are well received, you eat Moroccan and appreciated by all, but you don't respect the identity of the country by cutting the map ?! Very disrespectful
+Younès HATIM
Oh, odd that you were taught "Marhaba, kif halak" for "Hello how are you". That's Syrian Arabic. Moroccans would say something like "Labess? Culshi mazien?". Or formally, "Salam walaykoom".
You nailed it 😆
False
Marhaban kayf halouk is "welcome how are you" in classical arabic the "official arabic" not just syrian arabic
But you re right in darija "morrocan dialect" we can say salam labess or bikhir...
Thats classical arabic
kif halak is normal Arabic not just Syrian but i get u
We say labbass qi rak diyer (it hard to spell it in english)
I appreciate what you said about Morocco and Casablanca . You sounds like a traveler who know what is travel about .
Dud keep it up and stay brave .
I have a friend from Casablanca .. he is really kind 😊 i wanna meet him there
Hiya !
As a person who lives in Casablanca, thank youuu
The truth is I never, was proud of my country, I always saw the bad side of it, only hoping to get out of here.
And your video just appeared in my recommendations and DAMNNN
This video is sooo well done, you showed amazing places, showed how even the "poor places" were filled with good people. You talked good, and gave the world a window on our country.
Thank you so much !
(Plus now I can send this to my American friends cor them to understand it haha)
Keep up with the good work !
Hahahaha sameeee
I want to visit but Dont speak french or arabic... Ist it still possible
Thank you for traveling with an open heart and mind in my country.
Thanks for letting me in on how great it is :D
Really good video! Lots of support from Morocco 🇲🇦
I really love this video. You really nailed traveling for me. Going into it with an open heart and mind is the only way to do it.
Solid! Keep up the joy and good work Cal
I really appreciate your open mind on this
Great video! Very authentic of some of the reality of certain locals over there, my husband is moroccan and I am half moroccan, haven't been to Morocco yet but I can say that it is very refreshing to see such a different aspect of Morocco (in this case Casablanca) instead of the highly touristy spots with glamorous venues such as in Marrakech, etc..
What a great feeling to see your positive feedback about my country and specifically about my hometown. Thanks . And keep on the hard work . Live a journey with no regrets Broo 😉
This was actually a great representation of one of the many sides of Casablanca. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to my city and deconstructed some myths that surround the "White House" (literal translation of Casablanca). I'm also thrilled that you didn't stop at the clichés and properly visited the town. There's a lot you didn't see but if you came back I'm sure a lot of people (myself included) would be happy to show you around, you're welcome to come back whenever !
Oh and also your channel is very innovative I love what you do, so keep up the great work !
Best Wishes
When I come to Casablanca I would love for you to show me around
Casablanca is a mix of everything!
Sure we've got some pollution going on, but there are places that are very clean such as Elmadin (it's also very modern and a nice place to visit and take a look at ,espeacially Bab marrakech)
You've also got nice places ( with plants, nature, forests and beaches etc.) On the less croweded places of Casablanca. Everything's easy to reach here and you won't ever feel bored, even while not doing anything, because the busy atmosphere of this city makes you feel alive lol.
Sure that for tourists it may not be the best place since they usually look for more tradiotional places to experience the moroccan culture ( that's probably why people recommended Marrakech and Fes) but it really represents the everyday life if real moroccans nowadays. ❤
I WISH YOU A HAPPY TIME HERE IN MOROCCO!
- Basma, Casblanca.
Nice 😁 i really liked your video, you've seen just a small part of the heart of Casablanca, a city with a true mosaic of the Moroccan culture since it's habitant came from everywhere in Morocco, you can find slums but also fancy neighborhoods and ultra chic malls, you can find from the authentic Moroccan architecture(habous), French art deco to modern buildings ... a contrast worth to see, good luck for your trips !
i M from casablanca and im glade you loved the place and thank you for describing it that way
Amazing video ,all the best Cal
Oh my God this video is awesome. I was just told I should go to Casablanca in few days and I decided to find something on CZcams to get to know where I’m going. I don’t know who are you man but I hit a huge thumb up for this inspiring video ♥️
im from Casablanca and im definitely subscribing even before watching the whole video because you seem like a great CZcamsr
I am moroccan, and your video made me feeling happy, and having the will to visit Casablanca, thanks Cal (y) (y)
great job Cal! Fantastic attitude to explore the world!
Thanks!
This is where I come from, and I really want to thank you for giving people, who might not know it, a glimpse of how uniquely beautiful this city is. I subscribed. (chill out about the map people, this wasn't supposed to be a geopolitical expose)
Casa is awesome! Just moved in and wanted to thank you for the positive message. Very underestimated place Morocco, shouldn t be, the place is MAGIC
Great video , I live in the US I go every summer and Casablanca is my favorite city out of them all! The shopping, nightlife, beaches, food.
really good video mate, im so suprised discovering ur youtube channel just today.... anyway keep up the good work !
Just wanna say as an American student who has been living in Casablanca for a month -- all this is true. Casablanca isn't flashy but it's a great city to dive into for some really fascinating experiences. It might be my favorite city in Morocco in fact. Awesome place!
i haven't been to morocco 2 years and i miss the city and my big family. Thank you for making this video, watching it makes me feel better and you've been to places i used to go so i feel less nostalgic, Thank you
you're welcome :)
What a great presentation of Casablanca , nailed it .
Dude, you just made my day. I am soon traveling to Morocco with a group, yet still being a solo traveler. I've been worried about my expectations and researching the heck out of every place such as statistics and all of that, kind of made me forget why I am going: which is to enjoy and experience another culture. Thank you!
Welcome anytime Morocco will be your second country
A lot of common sense and wisdom in this vlog. Thanks and cheers!
Well done for the honest journalism. I love Casa, it's authentic!
thanks! I totally agree, there's a lot more to see here than at first glance.
u nailed it, loved the montage, music. Glad u enjoyed ur stay
Thanks! glad you liked it!
Really good cinematography. Loved the humane/social approach. Bien fait!
cheers!
Thank you for this video 🤩 I feel the same about Casablanca
It's where i live. You did a good job. There are humble people of Casablanca you can meet and share hapiness with just few simple things and goods.
Thanks for making this my friend
Hi Cal, great to see your film on Casablanca and hear your views. I am off to Morocco in a couple of weeks time, can't wait to get there. It's a country I have wanted to visit for a long time. I will have two weeks in Morocco wandering around, including Casablanca, Rabat, Mekenes, Chefchaouen, Fes, Midelt, MT m'goun, Ait Benhaddou and finally will fly out from Marrakech. Should be an awesome trip.
Great podcast man, you nailed it..
love this aroud the worl and the way you do it is just amazeing love from Bosnia💖
Thanks Jole! Appreciate it!
Cal McKinley hey what are doing ..... correct the map that's not good for us 😡😡
I was in casa few weeks ago.. it was great and people wer really kind, helpful
Thank you for your positivity and for sharing this expirience with us (y)
awwww the love the babys having fun!!!!
The best experience ever is spending a whole day with someone who doesn't speak your language and you have to use your hands and signs
Glad you enjoyed my city, I ❤️ your little travel documentary.. I wished if you could have showed us the other beautiful scenery of the city, or your tour guide could have also taken you to nicer places to visit such as “La Corniche, La sacala, le Marcher central, Habouse, Rick's Café from the movie Casablanca...” but overall you have brought back some great memories of how wonderful the local people of my country are🙏..
Please let me know if you ever want to visit again✈️, I will hoke you up with some nice schedule for your next trip to Casablanca🇲🇦
Thank you for sharing 👍
Take care
Very nice Cal. You truly are an ambassador for peace, whether you claim that title or not. Best wishes, my friend.
I've been to Morocco Agadir to be exact I had a great time. Going again to go to Casablanca where my friend now lives, I will go to Marrakesh, Rabat, and Tangiers and I never do the tourist path. I live in the neighborhood around the locals it allows me to practice my Arabic and French sometimes the combination of both Arabench Arabic + French. The food is amazing. I don't worry about getting robbed or anything if I can make it in the US and survive I can make it anywhere!
The city I find is clean. And quite wide. Loved it.
I've lived in Casablanca from June to the middle of July and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience in My life. I Hope everyone can be, as referred in the video, open-minded while traveling. And do explore everything on your own~
Informative vlog❤️ Thanks for this
Cool dude, welcome to Morocco
I'm in love with you!! Thank you for this!! XOXO
5 years and I still comeback to watch this video ✨💙 welcome to Casablanca everybody ✌️
wow thanks so much! Glad you liked it!
I love the whole of morocco, thanks Cal.....l!!!
Sure thing!
Thx Cal for making this video to show the whole world not to have preconceived ideas and don’t make assumptions without experiencing things. Am born and raised in Casablanca and we’re not dangerous people, in the contrary very open minded, welcoming and tolerant towards all nationalities and religions 😘
Great Video and Great Audio narration
thanks!
yeah man glad you liked it!
Glad you enjoyed your visit my friend. I'm from Marrakech and i don't think that it's that way of charming and interesting like tourists think it is. I believe every city has it's vibe and that what makes travelling interesting. Thanks for your feedback dear Cal.
100% agree with everything you said about travel. I've always said, that travel is very subjective, and it's not a 'one sizes fits all' concept. Get out there, go outside your comfort zone and experience different things. One day when you catch yourself telling a story to someone, even if it was a bad experience, THAT'S when the travel bug hits you, and makes it totally worth it and glad you did it. Safe travels!
Great to watch. Txs
I'm planning to go to Morocco in August. I cannot wait to get there
Welcome to Morocco and casablanca :D
Ur most welcome, dt hesitate to ask if u need any kind of info😊
Great vid, and thanks for sharing.
Ur arabic is so cute btw moroccans don't talk arabic like the official language yet they talk moroccan Darjia the native language of the country arabic is usually used in formal events or in studies
Darija is arabic.
wtff darija isnt the native language of morroco
@Sakna Khayali. If darija is Arabic, how come i dont understand arabs, and they dont understand me when i speak darija?
Like "labbess qi rak diyer" or (wash rak bikhire)
we talk the moroccan arabic .darija.
Respect this video is soooo dope!!!
This was great thank you.
Hi brother thanks of visiting my country
I have to get ready to go to work now , but I enjoyed your video & It inspires me . Maybe someday I will have the courage to visit Morocco . Anyway , thanks Cal .

I'm so happy that you liked my city!
great videoooo........ welcome to Morocco Cal :D
Omg u went to places in Casablanca that me as a moroccan, i can't get in just by myself xD, what i really love about casablanca is that u can find everything u want from the most luxirious places to the poorest ones... what i hate in it is the Traffic just a disaster nd lack of security : u always have to pay attention to ur pockets when u re in a crowded places... Very nice Vlog nd i encourage u the next time to Visit the north part of it like : Chefchaouen city ( the blue pearl), Akchour waterfalls,Assilah, Tetouan and Tangier cities... Morocco isn't only Sahara Fes Marrakech and Essaouira. U'RE ALWAYS WELCOME
Omg come back i'd love to meet u and show you my fav spots in the city
Great video, you have a good vibe to you.
Welcome to Morocco ❤
Thanks you frind 👍❤
Awesome. Real travel video. Subbed.
thanks man glad you liked it.
Nice vidéo and guys to enjoy more your stay and communicate with all categories of people like those who do not speak foreign languages, learning Darija will be helful. Also, if you are planning to visit small villages, sometimes, Darija is a must to enjoy more what you are living...etc.
Hey thanks for sharing
Very well done!
You are just a lovely human being love your video thank you 😊 brother
That's a great video. Casablanca is not a tourist destination at all so I'm glad you enjoyed it still.
I appreciate this video, I’m going to Casablanca for the exact same reason. All the reviews I’ve seen said that Casablanca was boring and dirty and to skip it but I can’t wait!
Wonderful mind and video!
Beautiful!
Super vlog inlive it thanks for vesitig morocco
Thank you for review
Nice video ,keep it up bro
I love how honest this is. It sounds like it's coming from your heart, really appreciate this. Come to Pakistan next, it's very cultural, basically where middle East meet India. Excellent food and really nice people (promise). It has snow capped mountains and glaciers, deserts and forests, sea and rivers because the country is kind of vertical (I don't know how to explain it).
Very awesome video 😊
Thanks!
My boyfriend (who moved to England as a kid) is from Mohomedia and his brother lives in Casablanca. I hope he will take me around Morocco where I can see all this stuff and meet his relatives. I'm from Botswana, have Mauritian parents and I have been living in Malaysia for university for almost 4 years now. I'll hopefully go to England next year. Would love to show him all these places too.
Amezing Country !!
@Very interesting Culture wonderful different News....wow!!
This was really well done, casey neistat esque ahaha, but theres a whole lot more to Casablanca, like ive been here for like 7 years at school and idk if u just didnt put them in the vid, but there are a bunch of other hella nice and interesting places to visit
Great editing I subscribed
Welcome to the team :D
Travelled to Casa last year and it's one of the greatest places I've ever been. Can't understand why people say that you should skip it and that it's dirty.
thanks for the video nice!
If you came to morocco and you dont visit chefchaoun dont say that you visited it because the half of marocco s beauty is in chefchaon the blue perle 💎💎💙 ''sorry for my english'' and keep going i am in love with your blogs 💜
