- Most new smart televisions don't come with a 3.5mm jack for headphones and speaker systems. This is an easy fix using a digital to analogue converter. The one shown cost just £13.00 and can convert optical/toslink & coaxial to 3.5mm audio and RCA audio leads!

Dude!!!
You just saved me a fortune 😢.
I was gonna buy a new TV because my NEWISH SAMSUNG SMART TV doesn't have a headphone socket AND doesn't support Bluetooth 😢😢.
I just ordered the little black box you recommended 👌 and a good old fashioned pair of cushioned headphones 🎧 yay.
Thank god to people like you.xx❤😂🎉
So frustrating, Hisense and TCL have 3.5mm while Samsung don't have it doesn't make sense
You sorted my problem, I just changed TV settings for Audio output to external speakers , connected digital out to digital in on Bose music system and it worked 😊.. thanks 🙏 a lot mate appreciated
lmao man I think this is first time where i've been okay with a tutorial taking a while to get to the point. The first two minutes were golden and I feel vindicated lol. Thank you tho this has been very helpful!
The first 2 minutes of this video are EXACTLY what I needed right now haha. I mean I actually do have bluetooth headphones but the're kinda crap, they're all laggy.
But this was exactly what I was looking for, thanks mate. Subbed.
A fellow Taffy just saved my life (well, almost but not yet!) As well as being slightly hard of hearing, I enjoy the intimacy of headphones while watching TV. However, the 3.5 mm headphone socket has become hit & miss, crackly etc and despite trying all the suggested tricks, I need another way to use headphones. I've ordered a converter and I can't wait to set it up. Many thanks!
Love the way u speak, it's absolutely amazing thing which is u explained very well
Came to answer questions, and i got that plus a real funny video! 😂 I like what you have going here
I will never buy a Samsung TV again. I was so pissed. I think you almost saved my life though
Im looking for a way to pair my Bluetooth headphones to a tv with no Bluetooth or 3.5 jack, every Bluetooth transmitter i look up has a 3.5 jack so i was hoping this video would help me but i don't really want to daisy chain this & a transmitter because that would mean i need 2 more power leads leading to my TV 😭 i already have 10 outlets being used by my tv/media players
Thanks for the video. Sooner or later I will have to buy a new HDTV to replace my 10 year old Samsung LN32B460 gem. It has loads of inputs and outputs as all TVs used to have. I have a pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones that plug into the RCA jacks on the back of the TV. I can have the headphones and TV speakers on at the same time so I don't need to fuss with the outputs each time I want to use the headphones.
The new TVs won't let me do that!
I bought a DAC for the day when I will need it.
Why don't the manufacturers leave all the audio outputs ON by default and allow you to turn off the ones you don't want?
My wife is hearing impaired and has to listen at a higher volume than me so she uses the headphones and I listen to the speakers.
When this TV fails she won't have that luxury anymore.
I just discovered that my salellite TV receiver has RCA audio output jacks and I can use those at the same time as my TV speakers. Yay!
I had the same problem. Just bought a new budget Samsung and it only has one choice of audio output UNLESS you go to the accessibility options and switch it to enable speaker and headphones at the same time.
Magic! Thank you!!
Hi. Please can you advise if you can plug in a headphone splitter so you can connect two headphones jacks without lag or distortion?
thanks for that, you mentioned a coaxial cable, I don't understand what that's for. when you set the box up there was no mention of it then, and we didn't see it.
It does the same thing as the optical cable except you use the coaxial socket instead of the optical.
Thank you Bro this is what I needed
So I currently use a 3.5mm extension cable plugged into my tv's headphone jack. It works but the audio quality is kinda average. If I used this would the audio quality be better than from the TV's 3.5mm jack?
You might need an amplifier
@@greg6162some DACS have an amp built into it would that work fine or do I need a own amp?
Thank you so much!
Great video, but you didn't answer one of my questions. When you change the sound option so you can us an earphone speaker doesnt that restrict you from listening to the TV speaker? Do you have to go back and change the setting again back to TV? Thanks.
Fantastic video very helpful. I just bought one of these devices, and about to try it out. 👌ps so right about companies making it complicated so we have to spend more money lol. No headphones jack on a tv? Fft lol.
Cheers, now run 3.5mm through my Bose output.
Really helpful, thank you . . .
If using this adapter and changing the TV to optical will others in the room still have TV sound?
My owners manual says that my LG OLED65C8PUA
(2018 model)
actually HAS a 3.5mm headphone jack.
And I can't bloody find it!!
great, funny and simple video, thank you, now i understand , i give a huge like
Thank you!
thank you very much
Very cool thanks
You r delightful 😄 had myself a laugh and learned smthg🙏🏼😊
Glad you enjoyed it.
amazing video! loved it :D
Thank you so much! And you are so enjoyable to watch :)
Thanks 👍
I got the converter. It doesn't work with headphones. It does work in amplifier but with delay.
Most likely you can adjust the sync setting in your tv if it’s newer maybe 2-3yrs old? I’m waiting for my new Bose TV Speaker soundbar that broke and is being replaced in 2 weeks. It’s been 10 days and my bedroom Vizio V-series TV has the worst factory speakers I’ve EVER heard. I have some Logitech cpu speakers that are actually powered (meaning they have their own power plug connected) and should provide decent volume but I might need an amplifier… wish Radio Shack was still around?! I’m sure there’s a do it all converter like his that also acts as an amplifier. You might pay a few bucks more but if it’s needed then it’s needed
Got this plugged in to my headphones. It's working but can't turn the volume up and down. How do I do this please?
Did you get the one with a volume knob on it?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK no it doesn't have a volume knob
Question, my understanding is that you won’t be able to control sound from your remote if I use that converter box. So how do you control volume on your had phones?
There's a volume knob on the box itself.
No vol control on the one you link to £8.49?
Sorry if I missed it - but once I have one of these boxes how do I then change the volume???????
There's a volume knob on the device I used.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK so no external amplifier needed? My problem is I need to hookup my external 3.5mm Logitech computer speakers. They are powered (power cable attached to speakers) but I’m not sure if it will provide enough volume? I did this with my old Sony LCD in college that didn’t have a 3.5mm aux port and needed an amplifier. Went to Radio Shack but they don’t exist in this timeline anymore unfortunately. Does this come with an upgraded option of with a built in amplifier option?
Which Anker speaker do you have that has aux input @ 0:59?
This one czcams.com/video/-so4jRELDt4/video.html
I tried the same thing but the sound did not come out well. It sounded like if I was listening it inside a can or something like that? I had optical cable, Analogue cable, DTA and USB cable. Really frustrating. I will probably sell the TV and get a new one.
Did you use the same DAC I used in the video?
You most likely needed an amplifier… I had the same issue with my Logitech computer speakers and it sounded like two cans and a string. God I miss Radio Shack… used to be fun making your own audio setup with what the store had available… like we were military grade audio mercenaries that would at any cost extract the most audio we could with just a few bucks and our superior manly ingenuity lol
Hi, thanks for this. I just want to listen to my tv via headphones so will any box like that work? The link you’ve provided is broken so not sure what to go for. Do all these boxes come with cables supplied?😀
Were you trying the UK or US link?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK UK😀
Something like this. It comes with an optical cable. amzn.to/3mdPQNW
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Looks good. When using this for tv watching, will I be able to alter the volume as normal on the remote?😀
Probably best to get this one with an adjustable volume. amzn.to/3k7dskG
Bought the same thing u bought and it still wont work did exactly what u done also. My tv sound said it's not supposed
The only socket these companies are interested I is the one inbetween our bum cheeks 🤣🤣
Think you need an adapter for that. 🤣
What about volume control by remote control of your tv? No! Its not possible with optical output because optical output have a fixed volume level… BA-DUM-TSS…
How do you do connect for a firestick ?
Via the TV. Fire stick plugs into the HDMI socket, then follow the video.
Where do I connect The auxiliary cable?
2:45
@@UTILITARIANTVUK nope. You never plug in the coax cable
How do we call that thing please a support or what..?
Sorry what thing?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK that piece with the optical entre u talking about
@@vuldin8993 it's a digital to analogue converter. Is that the piece you mean?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK yes, thank you very much
@@vuldin8993 👍
What about the H/P out why doesn't that work
I have two different LG models. Neither of them has the H/P out.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK h/p out works for the headphones but when I connect to the speaker it doesn't work I don't know why😭
Doctor Who 😎
I cant adjust the volume?
You need to make sure that the DAC you buy has a volume adjustment on it.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Do they come with different powered amps?
No. You cant. Not because of possibility of volume control at converter, but because tv optical output have fixed volume level.
cannot understand his accent, cannot see the words. CC saved the day
Hahahaha you must need headphones
Geezus. This is a "solution"?
PS don'
t buy Samsung,,,,,,,,
