Sims 3 Machinima - The Isle of Broken Ships

- Many years ago, Covan Oakland was the only survivor after a fleet of ships were caught in a great storm. They crashed into the rocks of a small island no one in Covan's time period had ever known existed. Covan learned to survive. He learned to garden, to fish, to cook over a fire, and to make due with what he was able to salvage from the shipwrecks. He made many attempts to get off the island, but none of them were successful. Most importantly, out of everything he learned, he learned to accept that help would never come.
I made The Isle of Broken Ships with the new Create a World Tool Beta. I highly recommend the program.

This is so awesome. The choice of music is really fitting with the scenes/story, Tarja Turunen is an excellent vocalist. The set/island is amazing.

darn. Oh well. I think that was one of the first shots for the video and I wasn't really thinking about where I put the trashcan then. I barely even had the story line figured out then. Good job spotting it. ;)

I had Covan dive a few times into a Dive Well. That was also how I was able to make him dive into the ocean. When a sim gets out of a dive well they are soaking wet.

I made the island using the Create A World Tool. The ships are from Sims 3 world adventures. If you have this expansion pack you should be able to download the island from my studio. I have the link in the "more info" section.
I might upload Covan. I added more stuff to his camp, so it will look a little different than it is in the movie. There are a few pieces of custom content like patterns and I bought most of Covan's clothes and a few items he has from the Sims 3 store.
It was very beautiful :). I love the way the music in the background fit with the story well.
This was so touching. It moved me a great deal. Poor Covan.

It seems a little odd that Covan doesn't sail around, especially if someone else found the island with a row boat.
Overall very nice!
The guy at the end was a random tourist who came to take pictures of the island. In my head the idea was that he took a row boat to the island after he left a larger cruise ship. And when he found Covan he decided to give him a proper burial.

@jere3416 Yes, that probably was a bit out of place. :P He knew martial arts because he traveled around the world so much. It was one of the things on the ship. The song is called Oasis.

That was beautiful; I'm amazed how well you put together the island. I tried CAW and just can't figure it out. All I found on the exchange were gross worlds (lol), but after seeing this, I'm definitely going to try again!
Absolutely amazing! the song was beautifully matched to the story too! LIke ReMi I too had goosebumps.
Thank you! Believe me, the CAW is really hard. Im still learning to use it. Try to start off making small worlds with the tool, like islands. Start small but be as detailed as possible. It pays off and the things you learn while making the small worlds will help you make bigger ones.

the Create a World tool-Beta. I created the whole island for this video and one of the items available with the tool is the ship. (There are two ships in Egypt if you have world adventures, one near the water and one in the middle of a green fishing area.)

lol! I did place seeds . . . all over the island. and gems. A few soulpieces. Fishing is pretty much the only thing you can do to survive there, (hense the idea of being stranded on an island) but there are seeds. You just have to find them. (it's your own choice if you want to put a grocery store there.)

@TheDeadsorrow lol, he did, but where would he have gone? His little makeshift boat would have been smashed to pieces by the same storms that wrecked those wooden ships. The other guy who visited the island was a modern day tourist (hence the headphones) who had a ship waiting for him once he returned back from the island. Thanks for wondering though. ^_^

I was reluctant to try the Create-A-World program, but seeing this video, I think I'll give a try, this world looks good.
Amazing!! Simply amazing!!
I custom made the island and used a lot of strange camera angles. It was interesting making the island with the new Creator Tool. And then the stroy line got in my head and I thought the story line would be more insteresting if the main character never returned home. Of course it made me a bit sad. The "buydebug" cheat is wonderful for when you want to put butterflies in odd places :)

Thank you for this comment. I think I was a little teary eyed myself when I realized what the ending should be like while I was filming, but I realized that if Covan was saved I would simply be following the Cast Away and Robinson Crusoe tradition. Not all stories end happily, but Covan tried his best anyway.

@warhammertauguy You just press the record button while playing the the Sims 3. Some machinima are as simple as that and tell a small story, or you can plan all the scenes and even create a world for the Machinima like I did.

@Atlanas i believe he was referring to the items you have placed on the exchange, however it is possible for anyone in the world to download any CZcams video for free with a program called Moyea FLV CZcams downloader, it is an embedded flash video capture program. . . just so you know :-)

@TheTellWhat Use ctrl+shift+c, type in the box move objects on after your sim started talking to someone. After that, take the sim to the place you whant and ta-da! Looks like he's talking to nothing or to himself.
