Now that I'm in my 70's I only have time for quality, and THIS is quality!
I am in my 70’s and I feel the same way.
I was seven years old when my parents took us to a matinee performance of Carousel. Seven, I didn't want to go. I found the power of music then, this has remained one of my favourite songs. I'm 70 now and it still makes me cry.
I love this song. I am glad my parents exposed me to musicals. Because of that I started taking voice lessons and the professor claimed I was a soprano coloratura. Unfortunately he died and I did not find another teacher and it has been many years now. Today, I only sing in the shower, if ever.

Words can't describe just how beautiful this song and performance is. Stunning voices, endless waves of chills.
This by far is going to be his best album in 15 years! As much as he tries to reshape it, Josh Groban's voice hasn't changed much from baritone to low tenor. It seemed a matter of repertoire. He hit it out of the ball park this time picking the right songs within his range that truly showcases the warm timbre and color of his voice. He always wanted to sing music theatre and this album means he has finally come full circle from classical crossover to contemporary music theatre. A nice move for the next step which is to earn a spot on Broadway.

This is beautiful. Josh Groban is a gift. I'm embarrassed to say I never heard of Audra McDonald. I looked her up and what a wonderful talent. Another gift.
She also had a duet with Hugh Jackman they sang this one too.
She played Grace in the 'Wonderful World of Disney''s presentation of ANNIE the Musical in 1999

They do make an excellent vocal team. I won't forget five years ago when they performed the New Year's Eve NY Philharmonic's tribute to Marvin Hamlisch with Brian Stokes Mitchell, Lila Crawford, Megan Hitley and more.

Josh is probably the only male singer in the world who can hold his own with Audra McDonald, who is currently at her peak and the best female singer in the world. As it is, they duet beautifully together in one of the best songs ever written for the theatre; they are sublime. I know these are sweeping statements, but that's how I feel-- :)

These two are commensurate vocalists. What a magical duet. This is one of the beautiful songs from Carousel, written by Rogers and Hammerstein.

I'm a massive fan of Josh, but I'm not wild about this arrangement of one of my all time favourite songs I'm sorry to say. The old Hollywood master orchestrators knew a thing or two about tugging every vestige of emotion from the genius melodies Richard Rodgers and others created. This arrangement for me is harmonically flat footed and rather dull. I would refer you all to the CZcams BBC 2010 Rodgers And Hammerstein Prom featuring the John Wilson Orchestra, where this is sung by British actor Julian Ovenden and American opera soprano Sierra Boggess, using the original film soundtrack score. It is utterly mesmerising and a masterclass in performance.
Mrs. Audra MacDonald is also a very very accomplished Lady-Actor I remember her astonishing performance along with Mrs. Emma Thompson in "Wit", both superbe ladies. Now here with Mr. Groban it is an unsurpassing melting performance by two of the best voices of our present times, this theme along with "Old devil Moon" of my very very faves from "Stages"indeed. Are you certain you want to stand by that assertion? According to you, more recent stage musicals like Hamilton, Wicked, Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera have no real lyrics. What do you even mean by "real lyrics?"
@@julenefisher6265 I'm not familiar with Broadway shows of the last 40 years or so, but I do remember some pretty strange stuff, songs that didn't make much sense. I'm rather fond of popular music from the '60s and '70s, when lyrics told stories with great instrumental backing ("The Boxer," "I really Want to see You Tonight," "If you Could Read My Mind" and the follow-up "The Last Time I Saw Her Face," "Diamonds and Rust"---and lots more). I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. Stay safe.

I don't think I've ever heard Josh Groban in a more perfectly matched duet. And I think I've heard them all. Audra is perfection and between the two of you, you raise the beauty of this song to new heights and my heart goes with it. When I listen, it feels like it's going to soar right out of my chest.
