Canoe Camping Alone with a Solo Hot Tent and Wood Stove

  • Join me on this early spring solo canoe camping adventure in a hot tent. I paddled my Swift Prospector 14 pack boat to a remote island campsite and set up my Luxe Hexpeak 2P tent and 3W titanium wood stove for an overnighter alone. It was a great time with a delicious morning breakfast. Spring canoe camping reminds me of the fall colors that I missed so much throughout winter.

Real nice Video. I have one more tip for you. Always tie your boat off and flip it over at night. A nice light boat like yours can get blown away easy and flipping it over keeps your seat dry. And being alone you do not want to lose your boat. Hope to paddle with you soon, John.

Sorry to 'critique' but as someone who grew up running that river down into Warren PA where it joins the Allegheny... when the spring ice broke up and we were dodging icebergs and logs RAGING in the typically docile waters... the name of the creek is appropriately pronounced 'kon-a-wong-go' by locals in Western PA., (rumored to mean 'canoe won't go' in the Iroquoi language... that's a pun! Yes, it' spelled wrong!) We only ran the Conewango in spring flood or after heavy rains, it was too hard on the canoe's in the summer months, but it was AWESOME during the spring run off. Very nice. You do a great job on your videos. Yes, Conewango only has that one island campsite. And it has the slipperiest mud known to mankind! Tip for the eggs: scramble them up and put them in a little plastic recycled bottle, like the kind you get a small milk or juice from McDonald's in. The lid screws on tight. A little more water in your pancake mix, then cut a small hole in the corner of your plastic bag and squeeze it out into pan, if you didn't already. And I agree with John V. on always tying off your canoe to a tree at night as you never know when a wind will kick up. Also, I assume you pack your coffee grounds home with you - you are a good man!
