the emotionless dead inside minimum wage museum worker made this video hilarious you should always include him
lol
if u need someone like that dont hesitate to hit me up
Martin Grahan I couldn't stop laughing every time they would do a drive by and all you would see was an angry man in a tiny car! xD
He was worried his girl would see him with another man inside that ridiculous FisherPrice bubble car.
@@jonathantan2469 my thoughts exactly no given your friend a ride unless you wanna cuddle him lmao
amazing audio quality
yeah so great in fact that almost think that I've been listening aliens driving this car using radio from 1960's
Shiro The Forgotten lol
Y4123 ndnd
ali karim ?
You didn't appreciate Stephen Hawking guest narration?
The guy riding passenger looks like he was in pain the entire time.
He was constipated
+jhowe427 That because they had to sit so close there was some man touching going on ;-)
+jhowe427 oh my god I'm in tears from laughing so hard :'D
Dritman I do believe that is the traditional greeting in West Hollywood
"Kill me now"
When you go full fucking cyborg holy shit that audio
3:45 - 4:06 lmao
Jesse Ganzolaz its more like a rip headphone users vine
hahahaha
Jesse Ganzolaz sounds like ear rape
The fact that they would put something out with audio THAT shit is kind of telling.
Well, at least there's no "blind spot" in that thing.
*****
LOL
In that car u ARE the blindspot...
No side mirrors either though, so good luck seeing someone coming up behind you...
I'd complain about the audio, but it probably is the best way to convey how noisy and harsh it must feel inside that thing.
These Jason Drives features are brilliant! Please keep them coming.
Go to the p50 website, they sell a 250mile range electric 4 wheel trident
Drive the LARC!!!
you sound like your talking through a fan when your in the car
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 exactly what I was thinking
+Christian Roche Juke, I am your father.
This car looks like that one small car in Fallout 4.
Filip how does ur profile picture match exactly what you are talking about?
the change profile pic option.
Filip That was my first thought lol
this car may have influenced the artists from bethesda. then again, safety was pretty lax in pre-war America.
@@NewPaulActs17 Pre-war? Pre-which war?
Can't believe 2 people fits in that thing?
A person fits in it, so long as you cut there head off and have only the head inside
The Terminator is calling... he says he wants his voice back! :D
Didnt that comany also make the P50?
+Benedocta Yes i have driven my friends P50 on the isle of man around the tt course its fucking scary
+Benedocta yes, I remember Jeremy Clarkson trying to drive it like a Ferrari, he got pretty proficient at both asking people to tip him back over and at using the door to tip himself back over depending on if he landed on the roof or the side.
+Eric D that's a Robin reliant.
Yes I've been in both so I know which is which.
+ben ingle Jeremy Clarkson drove both the Peel P50 and the Reliant Robin.
His words about the Isle of Man: "Its tiny. You're never gonna be able to go very fast" There's no speed limits on the Isle of Man and it holds some of the most exciting road racing there is.
+Mike Borraccia My thoughts exactly, he says it @0:42 and I suggest you type "isle of man tt road warriors" in youtube to see some awesome racing footage from the Isle of Man
+Mike Borraccia ... yeah, but on the other hand, the TT course goes almost all the way around the island and it's still only, what, 30-something miles per lap? James May managed it in an electric car made out of Meccano after all. Including the batteries and motors...
Plus relatively little of it is actually open-limit, there's a lot of local speed limits of 60mph or less, and it's still 20-30-40 in the towns (and the famous Mountain Road is 50mph on the odd occasion it's used as a 2-way road instead of 1-way). The tourist trophy is technically run on a closed course, even though it's zipping past people's garden walls, so the limits don't apply anyway.
If you're just mooching around town, or between a couple of different villages, or indeed going one end to the other and aren't bothered that it's going to take you 20 minutes instead of 10, a Peel would be a perfectly decent commuter car by the standards of the early 60s... pretty much a moped with a roof on it, to deal with all the rain.
there are speed limits, it is only during the tt race event where there are not and even then there are only no speed limits in some areas. The only people allowed to drive/ride through the town and whatever speed during the tt are the people racing
this car really is a spaceship, it even makes you sound like an alien when you try to talk while driving it
He should drive Clarksons P45.
3:01
That truck behind the car is filming.
So this is the best candidate for electric drive conversion ever.
And a car to look at but not drive and die in
yeah the batteries would prob make it more stable too
+Evan Moon They did actually do that with a bunch of them somewhere... can't remember if in the UK, US or Australia, but I did see it on a "foreign" edition of Top Gear the once...
And yeah, the EV was about as quick (and probably had about as much useful range!) as the 50cc petrol version, but so, so much quieter and cleaner.
only thing that sucks is you are reducing the range a lot. i mean these things got like 100 miles to the galon :/
Evan Moon
I don't know....... After seeing the car for 5 mins, I don't want to look at it any longer...

1:52 when your bass is perfect
It wouldn't be a jalopnik video unless the audio was crap
Rex looks miserable the whole way...
The video sounds like a dank ass meme
Z-Army I know right
There are cars like this in Walmart, except they are appropriately labelled "for ages 8-13"
3:39 "We're about to come over to some railroad tracks, so this should be fun."
" o_o "
"Here we go."
" o_o "
the balancing guy looks like Ashens
Simo Mikkonen
It's probably what ashens drives
The trident reminds me of Spacemann Spiff's spacecraft in Calvin and Hobbs. It is a cute little UFO.
Yep, this doesn't get shot down by the zog every five minutes though.
"johnathan was here, 2015"
Looks like a space ship and makes you sound like a space man to boot!
I saw another road video of one of these (in Britain) and the driver said it was terrifying to go up to 35mph in something this small and low to the ground.
The passenger can be our future leader
Trump Tower. Mk 1a.
thank you for making a jalonik video series i actually like
1:34 I NEED SCISSORS 61
I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!
Beginning of the video: "This is one of the worst cars ever!"
Throughout the rest of the video: "Eh, it's actually not that bad"
Great job guy's, Love the outtakes...
I loved the look of sheer terror on your co-pilot's face the entire ride.
Best description of driving a Peel ever. "Like driving a massage chair with a plastic bag over Your head".
That about sums the whole thing up.
Why is that no one ever thought when building these tiny Cars said “Hey you know how tricycles have the two wheels in the back for stability?”
"Isle of Man - Never going to be able to go very fast"
No speed limits on the IoM, doofus.
Yeah. TT bikes go very slowly.....
I'm only 0.20 into the video saying this but that Peel Trident doesn't appear stock, it appears to have the engine & rear wheel of a Vespa, large frame like a P/PX series which would make it larger in capacity than the original 50cc.
+milksheihk Yep, video quoted 12hp, that makes it most likely a pre-emissions 200cc Vespa engine, the original engine was only around 4hp.
3.38 now, I should watch the whole video before commenting :p
Looks like the jetsons lol
You can't tell me seeing an angry, fed up with the world man in a tiny car isn't hilarious!!
I love this series. I hope Jason don't actually dies driving one of those bad cars.
*doesn't
So if the aerial atom turns you into an alien when you drive at above 60mph, the Peel Trident turns you into an alien with a chest infection at 5mph
I love this guy! great series.
When the bass kick in
That'd be pretty awesome if you move the steering wheel to the center and made it a one-person vehicle. That would also give you enough room for a buddy breather in case you were overcome by fumes.
I was at this museum last year, the greatest car museum i've ever been to. It's so much fun, I got to see so many old cool cars. Just Amazing. I recommend it to all ages!!!!
the fact that there are 2 people in there makes it 10 times more hilarious
This series is the best thing Jalopnik has done since the Miata
One of the funniest car reviews I have ever watched 🤣🤣🤣
I'm laughing my ass off at the audio! hahahh Thank you so much! :'D
* alien noises *
* turns engine off *
* in a normal human voice *: "Thanks for beeing my balance."
1:55 when a song is bass boosted
Edit: *When he starts the engine
that Larc
is a amphibious vessel that was used in the 50s to tranport tanks and trucks across sea
and all 4 of its 9 feet wheels are each powered by Detroit diesel engines
and the vellsel is FUCKING 26 FEET WIDE!!!!
thats as wide as 3 tractor trailers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make a video on the Larc Jason!
LARC; Landing and Resupply Craft. Saw them everywhere in Vietnam, in the water, on land. None of them big enough to carry a tank or truck. Same as the WW 2 DUC; Dual Utility Craft, but worse.
I wanted to see it :(
Adorable little car. Pity about the heavy audio distortion while talking/driving. Thanks for showing us this awesome rarity.
Today I learned Torch is actually a cyborg.
I feel like it's actually criminal to not have lil fins on this thing to emphasize the spaceship look, but then it's so light that you may end up getting lift off of any aerodynamics at all that you might add...
The Looks you get , & feeling of Doom when followed by a Le Car must be Hillarious to drive LOL !
I love this CZcams channel .
Lane Motor Museum! Sweet you guys should try and feature this place more, it's so full of oddball vehicles, I loved going to that place when I lived in Nashville.
Visited Peel today, I can safely say the roads in the town fit this car beautifully
It looks like the love child of a Peel P50 and that Chryslus Rocket from Fallout…
Given what you're driving, do you at least get some epic 70 or 80 mpg?
1:28 Is part of the car actually rubbing the back wheel?
no its just the angle of the camera
Yep u can see it plain as day in 50% playback
3:54, it's the Paul Giamatti. Tom Green road trip movie, I suddenly need more than air!
Rex looked terrified yet found the experience to b every intimate!
How do I submit a video to the Make Channel?
"You can't go fast on the Isle of Man"... it's home to the fastest and most dangerous road race in the world, the Isle of Man TT.
1:32 Jason is a robot confirmed 🔺
its basically a peel p50 sport in concept, good little cars for europe.
+Green Pretzel ... nah, still cheap and chee---- er, *nasty* little cars pretty much exclusively for the UK during an early, local fuel crisis that was the prelude to the global one in the 70s. They were about as small, light, low powered and cheap as it's possible for a car to get, and were advertised on that basis. The single-seater P50 that preceded this - which was basically a camp chair, moped engine, three hand-truck wheels and an oversized jelly mould bolted to a tea-tray chassis - was described in the blurb as "cheaper than walking", because it saved more from stopping your shoes from wearing out than you paid for fuel, tyres, insurance and road tax...
Basically the ultimate reduction of the microcar / cyclocar.
I'm quite amused to see one turning up in the states...
mspenrice As far as microcars go, they're not that bad.
It's a poorly ventilated trolley with the engine literally inside the passenger compartment (the P50 even had one-wheel drive... on one of the FRONT wheels), possibly only rear-wheel braking, etc. Plus with the Trident you have to lift the entire upper portion of the body up and forwards from down behind you in order to get out - heaven help you if you park too close to a wall, or worse still in a place with a low ceiling that you can't then drive back out of, what with no reverse gear. Even the infamous Heinkel and Isetta front-opening bubble cars (which also had a fair bit more space, power and refinement) afforded you rather more leverage to push them backwards at the cost of some paint by shoving against the door itself...
I like them for their small size, their quirky looks, and their plucky British "ah, that'll do, we can work with it" fighting spirit, but taken entirely objectively, they're pretty crap. Better than a cyclecar, sure, but the last of those died out many years before the P50 and Trident came along...
I admit they have no place on the roads today
I dunno, so long as you're careful and have a good life insurance policy, it's probably good fun for a while... but then I have driven some awful wrecks of my own and still found enjoyment :D
You sound like an alien driving it
I love this CZcams channel
0:44 There is no way to go fast on the Isle of Man?! Sir, I suggest to google "Isle of Man TT" one day.
The car so bad, driving it turns you into a Darlek
Jason's voice in the car sounds like these anti-smoking ads.
Larc says "Jonathan was here 2015"
Robot/alien voice changer. Such a nifty little device.
more jason drives please!
I was already laughing my ass off when he came out with "I feel like sitting in a massage chair with a plastic bag over my head" OMG
The cruising rpm seems to be the exact resonant frequency of your microphone. Impressive!
what would win in a head on collision this or a hummer?
Sooooo.... any historical explanation for the Trident only having 2 points on the logo? Did one vibrate off?
Most of the people I have met during my two holidays in the Isle of Man have been too drunk to walk let alone drive anything so a car that bounces off pedestrians seems a pretty sound idea. Isle of Man - great holiday place and amazing kippers.
A brilliant, beautiful car. Designed at a time when folk wanted a 'car' but on a low wage and only had a moped licence.. This is the 'sexier' version of the Peel 50.. More spaceship than car.. LOVE IT..!
Same, it's not that much of a junk
Did they sell them in pairs, one for each foot?
Now, imagine hummer stops behind you on red light, and he forgot that you were there...
this is what my actual hearing sounds like after a loud concert
Reminds me of when Top Gear drove the Peel P50 into the lift and up into the offices of the BBC
Does that thing have a centrifugal clutch?
Welcome to Nashville, guys! Next time announce your presence and set up a meet-n-greet!
Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, TN is an amazing place to go to and spend a few hours just wandering around.
The audio quality is fucking amazing
So when do we get to see you drive the LARC?
How about a couple of sandbags for ballast? Now you owe Rex dinner.
Its more art than car. I love the look of this little bugger. Jetsons space age look is beautiful
If I were to drive one of these I'd have to put on a blue jumpsuit and call myself Spiff.
nice editing!
its made at the Isle of Man and you thought you probably couldn't drive fast there....Best laugh of my life :D
The peel P 50 is still made. Look on Internet.
Michael Walker made just down the road from me in Sutton-in-Ashfield Nottinghamshire.
Who would pay $100,000+ for the p50 lol
Some rich eccentric or a micro car museum keep in mind, that was the price given at an auction for one of the old builds. A brand new Trident sets you back $15,856 and $14,596 for an electric powered Trident.
All this for something you could build in your garage out of old lawnmower parts and do a better job.
So many cars you can buy that are way way better for that price.
The LARC is so huge that it makes the host look like he's two feet tall.
