  • Teal Swan had a new documentary about her on Hulu called The Deep End. Teal Swan is a spiritual guru who uses new age ideas to help people with trauma and other mental health issues. While there are many questions about how Teal Swan helps people with their mental health as well as her net worth from her events and retreats, it's difficult to know if she's providing a positive service for people. The documentary had quite a bit of controversy when Teal Swan made response videos. So today, we chat with the creators of the Teal Swan documentary to see what it was like filming this series.

I don’t subscribe to teal - however she released the footage of Jon Kasbe and his teams birthday wishes to her and they all seemed so sincere and supportive - to the point they’d each expressed thanks for the difference Teal had made in each of their lives. The videos certainly didn’t match the tone and content of the documentary and shows a lot of blatant dishonesty on the film crews behalf. If they can be that deceptive on camera than who’s to say they can’t be dishonest in their depictions through this documentary. I suspect this documentary would make a momentary blip before being forgotten in the long run.

They filmed for three years and one instance of them being nice doesn't mean their intent was to "trick her". Look. I followed Teal Swan from 2011 to 2020. I watched her every Saturday like a kid watching cartoons and still have most of her books. I flew to LA to attend a workshop. She helped me a lot and I eventually outgrew her work. However, people aren't always what they appear to be behind the scenes. EllenDeGeneress is a perfect example of that. Their tone towards the documentary probably shifted when she banished Blake, her best friend of over 20 years because he chose his wife over her. Also, her comment about not letting people in her house have kids was pretty messed up. It doesn't matter too much though. She does have a pretty loyal following and they'll just view it the way they're told to. I would've too.

I was involved in Scientology for several years, so I know what a cult is. After watching Teal Swan for several years as well, I would NOT classify her as a "cult" according to a least a dozen specific characteristics. That said, I think that believing 100% in ANYONE is not healthy, and Swan is certainly no exception. I simply take what knowledge she may have, and ignore the rest, just as I do with anyone else. No one has all the answers and I am no "joiner," a particular wisdom gained from my 75 years on planet earth.
ADDENDUM: Whenever I seek guidance, I break down mental health methodologies into just two groups, the clinical psychology approach, and the spiritual approach. In other words, either going to a shrink, or going to a priest. Teal belongs to the latter group. In my opinion, her strength is in spiritual healing and not in the typical Western therapy/psychotropic drug category. To put a finer point on it, if I wanted marriage counseling, I would seek out a good marriage counselor, if I wanted to know "what a soul mate" is," I'd refer to Teal. In fact, when I was feeling particularly lost, I found myself strongly gravitating to Teal, and gained tremendous benefit from her teachings, but I have also learned much from mainstream Gestalt therapy. Two different approaches, but both potentially effective for the individual's particular needs. I don't believe there is any single path to truth.

She should have known to NEVER trust the main stream, EVER. That is point 1. Hulu is main stream, period. The main stream has a solid track record for twisting, smearing, slandering and all sorts of other nasty things. This is their solid track record. She should have had her own film crew filming at the exact same time. Instead, she got her ego stroked by pleasentires, and ended up screwed over. The main stream has no problem doing harm to anyone, an then flipping it and gas lighting the people they've harmed. This happened a lot before 2020, and it happens a lot more since 2020. Teal was made an involuntary actor for a film she didn’t agree to act in: They had a narrative, they created the plots, villains, and heroes based on how they felt about certain moments. They try to act as though they were very balanced the whole entire time.
They are even being deceptive in these interviews. Obviously, they told Teal there were be an editing process. However, they told her they were going to do a hero’s story. Not turning this into a thriller.
I really enjoy your interview style. I do feel many found interest in Teal after being entertained by the Deep end. However, that’s what this is, entertainment. Not reality. Teal does help people find their own answers and much of her content is at no cost. She is a big proponent of shadow work which the sole purpose is the individual being their own healer. She offers meet ups and conferences to people who are resistant to healing.
Also, if people are going to knock her for claiming extra sensory abilities they need to knock every religion on the planet. As far as her saying nice things but having problems, that’s what being a human is about. We are all healing each and every day, saying a person with a platform needs to have less problems than the average person is a totalitarian type view, Teal always talks about shadow work which indicates we all have traumas and behaviors we must work through each day in order to live a more healed life. If Teal cannot have problems and have followers than neither can Beyonce, or any talk show host, nor can celebrities who have a platform advise on politics(things which impact the lives of others). This idea that imperfect people can’t lead the weak comes from a very unhealthy place.
If we applied the same standard to Kasbe who has admittedly had years of therapy, should he have the right to judge the tones of these experiences and draft a narrative at risk of his mental voids distorting reality?
Kasbe has a history of blurring the lines in his films. His documentary on Teal is utter nonsense. It turns clear language into gibberish.

The whole problem is the word followers. You should never follow anyone. You should follow your self, trust your self, whenever I hear the word followers I get chills and not in a good way. And I am a retired therapist, I have been in therapy for over 30 years myself because I believe if you are a therapist you must be in therapy. Often times it is referred to as “supervision”“. A therapist will see another therapist weekly, review cases, and talk about transference and other subjects. but I have been an actual real therapy because my traumatic experiences will affect my work if I’m not careful. Besides the fact I needed to heal myself. Many therapists go into the field in order to heal their own trauma without realizing that they need their own therapy. Physician heal thy self and all that. I have had experiences with bad therapists. But I kept looking for a good one, someone who is credentialed board-certified and someone who helps me to face up to my issues to learn about myself in a positive way. I have been with one therapist for close to 30 years. I am not her follower and she would rather die than hear herself described as some sort of leader or guru. She’s simply a clinical social worker. If you have a bad experience with a therapist keep looking for a good one. There are many good therapists out there. Don’t run to someone like teal swan. Because this is absolutely a cult. She says one thing and does the other. And she can’t see her own shadow. Her methods are extremely questionable and dangerous. At the end of the documentary she would not even hug her very very dearest friend because he wanted to leave her cult with his wife. What a horrible woman and human being. And you must always run from someone who claims to know the answer, and to know the absolute truth. Because there is no absolute truth. Truth is different for each person in therapy. And that must be respected. teal “knows“ but never questions. All of her questions are designed to produce the answer that she wants and people want to please her. That’s one of the major problems in this cult. Too many to mention I could go on for quite a long time. My longtime therapist is now 93 years old so I have found a new one. When I was searching for a new therapist, I called a couple of people and had to leave messages. One woman called me back four times. That turned me off completely. Not a good sign. Many many years ago I had a therapist who, after a few sessions, told me not to come back because I wasn’t “telling her everything“. She didn’t seem to understand that therapy is a process especially for a trauma survivor. It’s a crazy world and therapists are only human beings with human failures.

I haven't watched the docu yet, so I shouldn't really say anything about it. But from my understanding it shows on video the very same things that we have heard for years from people who used to live with and follow Teal. It's the same behavior from her, the same manipulation, the same putting people up against each other, the same drama, and the same hurting people. She hasn't learned a thing since she was a teenager.
Diana, her childhood and teenage friend recently did an interview on Mormon Stories where she describes how Teal made her believe she had repressed memories - as a teenager. She seems traumatized by Teal and is struggling in the interview.
Years prior to her coming out there was Cameron Clark (video interviews here on youtube), describing how Teal told her to get in her car and decide if she wanted to live or die. That is clearly a great approach, since her first client Lesley unalived herself after Teal told her the same.
Jared Dobson describes, also on the channel Mormon Stories, how Teal came on to him when he was contacting her for help. She later made him believe he had been this awful reptile in a previous life where he was hurting people, because she could "see" that.
Sarbdeep Swan, her ex husband, wrote a whole blog about her where he called her The Black Swan. The blog is since deleted, but in screenshots it's described how she was unfaithful to him, and how she manipulates a guy she just met, with telling him how they had been together in previous lives etc.
The writer Ghoste on the blog Celestial Healing, describes how Teal told her she had repressed memories, and how she had been in the same cult as Teal.
It's all the same story, it's all the same behavior, only this time it's on tape.

Clearly, this "documentary" was a hit-piece. I was much more interested in learning about the participants' experiences and the healing work than the inner circle drama. (There will always be drama in any environment like that, and clearly, Teal was triggered by what happened with Blake. There is a lot of history there that wasn't shared with us.) After watching Teal's footage of the exact same pieces in the documentary, you ABSOLUTELY portrayed those interactions completely differently than they actually played out. Having said that, Teal did show us a side to her that was angry and controlling and kind of cruel. My ultimate goal is to interact with others with love and I would have really appreciated seeing more grace and love in the inner circle dynamics. Anyway, this whole saga has been a bit too much stress overall and I think this interview did a poor job of showing both sides. Everyone is just attacking Teal, and that just seems unfair. This "documentary" was shit. It showed nothing that benefitted my life or educated me. It's just manipulative drama he-said she-said. Bleh

I can’t believe the director and producer of a (now proved to be) hit piece is talking about «misinformation in Teal’s response videos».. Really guys?? What about the deception IN your series? (Teal’s finally been able to dig up some behind the scenes footage from the same events.) Misinformation is what this series was based on. When you actually dig into Teal’s work, you realise it’s actually close to nothing like it was portrayed. I’ve watched tons of her workshops and the rest of her detailed stance on nearly every subject there is. And how disrespectful to say her response videos «prove» she’s the person they portrayed in the series, regardless of the compliments she did in fact give them about the positive things about the series, while also being proffessional and clear about how and why what they portrayed do not compare to what actually happened.
I’d suggest people watch her two latest rebuttal videos where she genuinely proves some of the deception through her own team’s footage. «She has a lot to work on».. what a beautiful excuse to manipulate and abuse what she is about, for profit. She works on herself all day long and continuously speaks on how much work she does on herself, and this is what she gets in return..? She’s incredibly authentic and one of the most helpful (and intelligent) people I’ve ever come accross. If only the series was an objective and authentic portrayal. It isn’t, regadless of the excuses these people come up with.
I see some people certainly aren’t ready for what she has to offer. Especially those who struggle with facing their own shadows, which is part of the very work she does on herself (which can in fact be really deep and difficult work), and the very process she offers those who’re ready. Also funny that these people did ‘not’ mention that the private investigator concluded with that she did ‘not’ cause people to commit suicide. (Her work wouldn’t even make sense if that was the case.) The truth is she has a deeper way of meeting and understanding those who’re genuinely suicidal. Maybe not that surprising as she’s tried to commit suicide 4 times in the past herself. The level of pain someone has to experience to truly understand someone else’s, is apparently very severe. And now she gets crucified for her radical compassion, which doesn’t necessarily ‘look’ the way you’d expect from the outside when you’re not in the depths of that pain yourself.

here's some of TS psychic claims to just START.
by her account she is an actuarian alien who was made beautiful and white so aliens could get people to follow her and her "mission" (yes she did indeed actually say this) she can read people's thoughts/see auras, see there energetic patterns, see there life paths, she can see and channel dead people, she interdimensionlly travels, she can put books under her pillow when she sleeps and can absorb all the information (she doesn't have to read them), she can visit people in they're dreams, can see everyone's past lives, can visit the akashic records and isn't limited to "time space reality".....thats not even all of them, that's literally the ABBREVIATED version lmao
      TS satanic cult claims
She also claims she was in a satanic cult for 13 years filled with crao ton of Mormons that murdered immigrant children, she also says she was sewn into dead bodies, and the cult didn't kill her because she was special and psychic so they drank her blood to gain her powers. (She was also supposedly modeling WORLDWIDE during this time) She said the cult leader would pick up her up nightly at 3 AM every morning for up to 10 years without her parents knowledge to perform cult rituals with her and the cults followers) she was also treated with electroshock by this cult so they could make her unable to do "normal everyday things" to keep her under they're influence. These electroshocks made her not able to plug In appliances, or start a laundry or do any other chores such as washing dishes, because of this those who live with her have to do those things for her 😂😂😂 Her old therapist is barbra snow who was a leader of the 80s "satanic panic" Barbara had her license revoked due to instilling false memories into numerous clients believing they had been satanically abused when they hadn't been.
She has also told inside followers to kill themselves (these people were Cameron clark and Jared dobson, who gave interviews about the hell they went through with her). She also tried to make them believe they were all apart of the same cult and abused in said cult but didn't remember because it was a "repressed memory" (I watched her do this) This caused one of her inner followers to have a psychotic break and caused another inner follower to accuse a family member of SA that never actually happened.
She says suicide is a "reset button and by universal perspective there's nothing wrong with suicide" and actually legitimately caused a personal client of hers to kill herself. She also plagarizes almost all of her material and then claims it as all her own.
Shall I keep going? Because even after that entire long ass comment, that's STILL isn't even ALL OF IT. She needs to be held accountable for her actions. I was a follower for 4 years in my teen years and I was also deeply mentally affected by her beliefs on suicide. I also became highly delusional because of her.
Teal swan is a deluded and dangerous, narcissistic, mentally ill cult leader who has hurt MANY vulnerable and mentally ill people (her target audience)
To her followers: Open your eyes and stop enabling this predator and do some real research. This behavior has been going on her entire life. People aren't just pulling this out of there ass. She's lied about severe abuse which hurts actual victims. She has no credentials to be doing anything psych related and is as phony as a 3 dollar bill....,,,,,,

I wonder why none of these interviews to the film crew are asking about the birthday messages. Did they act like they loved her and like they saw how amazing her work was to manipulate her and her team? Would that be ethical?
Teal's claims about the editing are distorted like most of the things she says. However, there is a very deceptive scene on part 3 during the waterbreathing exercise. Teal hasn't brought this up, but one of the people who attended that retreat made a video explanation about it. In this scene, they show a woman saying "I love you" to teal after the water breathing exercises and the editing tries to make it seem like this person is Sabrina. This person is not Sabrina and it has been proven by the person who appears as Sabrina in the episode. This is concerning because with the story they choose to tell with Sabrina on that episode, this would be a clear example of trauma bonding, and that's serious and not something that should be manipulated with editing. Using a different person in this scene is deceptive and problematic. Thankfully, Sabrina has left teal's cult and is no longer a follower, but her story has been manipulated to represent things that didn't actually happen.
It's also interesting that they will answer to some of the insignificant editing examples that were brought up in this interview, but when asked about the scene with Sabrina, Kasbe has said he won't discuss the editing or go into detail to avoid giving an answer.

It is sad to see what people decide to focus on. The reality of every human being is that we are not perfect. If you idealize anyone you will be disappointed. Teal is helping many people and, of course, making mistakes on the way. So what?

@@luceymajor no they didnt. For 9y i was watching her stuff and was part of TT and Teal's behavior towards members and Blake was appaling in light of the documentary. She took zero accountability, was running a Blake blaming narrative while exhibiting obvious abusive behaviors towards her manager and anyone who opposes her as can be seen editibg or not. When I challenged her about dbl standards and her Blake demonization project she used "what game are you playing" and "me teacher you student" to avoid responding. I believe she is trying to control the narrative of the inner circle legally and through emotional manipulation. Her nonnegotiables are telling. This is coming from someone who was defensive of her for years. While waterboarding scene is bs, Teal's reactions are telling of her narcissistic tendencies and harm she causes due to them

  • @jasminabourgeois7434

    Jon and Bits,
I dislike the fact that you misrepresented healing techniques such as water breathing to look like waterboarding. I dislike the exaggerated bday messages as they make you look really inauthentic and maliciously calculated. I understand that your motive was to show the truth and that you believed the ends justify the means or maybe even wanted to show kindness to Teal in bday messages despite seeing her destructiveness. You have accomplished showing Teal's effect and behaviors well and I get that the ominous music was a representation of your feelings and what you wanted to make seen throughout the documentary. But I feel like the ends do not justify the means and that you didn't just document Teal's harm which was eye-opening, but also documented your own destructive behaviors. You could have been kind and polite without going overboard and lying about your feelings towards Teal in those exaggerated bday video messages with poems and what not. You could have focused on what was actually harmful instead of skewing shamanic practices to look like drowning people (though this I can see that it may have been a misplaced projection of the harm you have observed Teal do in other contexts). But, no, you are not innocent either, and while your documentary brought a lot of good in terms of exposing Teal's narcissistic tendencies and mental health struggles which negatively and harmfully affect others, you did not act ethically and have exposed your own shadows as well. When I say ethically, I do not mean painting her in a negative light as that was absolutely ethical and bears truth to what happens there, I mean feeding her ego to such an extent as to retain access to her. Kindness is different than manipulation. And this makes a huge difference when it comes to trying to help people see the truth when you are not yourselves being truthful and therefore those who need to become aware of Teal's destructiveness the most will automatically not take you seriously but will think you are liars.

Hm, is it really shocking and surprising that they would be upset with the way they've been presented (even if it is true). I think that what they did with this documentary was very sneaky and dishonest and it is hard to respect people who would behave in this way...That said, I can see that if they believe she is hurting others, they can excuse their own dishonesty and low behavior. I think that someone who would have been drawn in to her circle would not change their mind just because of this film. I've watched her words, the documentary and all I can find on it...I believe she's been misrepresented by editing, and *also* that she is abusive to those in her inner circle. I also think she does have an important perspective on the world and spirituality that is important for some people to hear.

here's some of TS psychic claims to just START.
by her account she is an actuarian alien who was made beautiful and white so aliens could get people to follow her and her "mission" (yes she did indeed actually say this) she can read people's thoughts/see auras, see there energetic patterns, see there life paths, she can see and channel dead people, she interdimensionlly travels, she can put books under her pillow when she sleeps and can absorb all the information (she doesn't have to read them), she can visit people in they're dreams, can see everyone's past lives, can visit the akashic records and isn't limited to "time space reality".....thats not even all of them, that's literally the ABBREVIATED version lmao
These electroshocks made her not able to plug In appliances, or start a laundry or do any other chores such as washing dishes, because of this those who live with her have to do those things for her 😂😂😂
She has also told inside followers to kill themselves (these people were Cameron clark and Jared dobson, who gave interviews about the hell they went through with her)
She says suicide is a "reset button and by universal perspective there's nothing wrong with suicide" and actually legitimately caused a personal client of hers to kill herself.
Shall I keep going? Because even after that entire long ass comment, that's STILL isn't even ALL OF IT.
