My addiction started innocently enough-just a weekend thing, a party drug with friends. But soon, I was buying it for myself, using it alone. I stopped going out, not because I didn’t want to party, but because I didn’t want to share. Slowly, I began neglecting everything that mattered-my relationships, my responsibilities, my life. When my cousin passed away, instead of facing the grief, I drowned in cocaine. I spiraled out of control, and eventually and understandably, my girl dumped me. What followed was a two-year bender that consumed everything-my time, my money, my friendships. I was stuck in a cycle of destruction, unaware of how much I was losing with each passing day. Then one morning, I woke up and realized: two years of my life were gone, spent chasing a high that gave me nothing but emptiness in return. The damage was done. But today, I stand here, one year clean-rebuilding, healing, and finally learning how to live again.

I have this disorder if that's what people call it. However, I did not suffer from any type of trauma and I've had this since I could remember which was about 4 years old.

It was just a blip near the end where he said WRITING THINGS DOWN. You gotta try this. Let me illustrate how as briefly as I can. The other day I’m spiraling. Worry after worry and unrealistic worst case scenarios playing in my head on loop. People are making fun of me in my imagination, my brain is foggy, I’m behind schedule, I’m shortening my to do list to bare essentials, I want to quit all the amazing things I’ve been doing to fix my physical and mental and emotional and financial problems, I want to cry and scream melt down, I want to go off on the next person who twists the knife that’s already sticking out of my back, etc etc etc. Maybe you can relate. I stopped everything, opened notes app, and I made a list of everything that matters in my life that I’m worried about. Under each thing I wrote down why it’s important enough that I have to worry about it- what do I actually get out of this that i can’t let go. Under that I wrote down what the problem or worry is, including the unrealistic disaster ending that my disorder was adding to it. Under that I wrote why the disaster scenario is unrealistic and can’t really happen. Under that I wrote what the REAL worst case scenario is. Under that I wrote what I need to do about it, and how that is going to make things go my way. And then at the top I went back up and I combined all of these things into a mission statement/situation report on my life. Here’s what I got, here’s my problems, here’s how I’m handling it, here’s what I get if I keep going. And I felt calm and I felt like I was gonna make it. I felt so calm and able to function again that I went back down the notes app and I started doing more detailed stuff- building a schedule for the things I need to do, breaking down my general goals into simple step by step procedures, etc. I kept reading that throughout the night. I kept reading it the next day. I kept working the plan. I’m not cured yet. But I am not spiraling. I’m staying on target like this is the Death Star trench run. And I’m gonna blow these problems up.

I have 29 years experience with AA/NA. I would NEVER advise a female to go there. You WILL be preyed upon. Other members WILL cosign predatory behavior. Try Smart Recovery or Refuge Recovery.

I think the most addictive combination was opioids and nicotine for me. The hits of nicotine paired with that euphoria of opioids make you so relaxed yet nausea in a good way

See the same type of thing happened to me because it started with weed and alot it alcohol and my grandmother had a surgery and she got prescribed a lot of opioids and I took it and why would I be so dumb to do that is what people would say, but I say that’s the downside of the disease

okay mr "body language doesn't exist", explain how this hypothetical scenario can exist if reading body language isnt real. A man aggressively knocks on my door with a gun in his hand pointing it at me, IS it not reading body language to assume that he has aggressive intent and wants to harm me? Because, IT IS. I read his body language, he didnt have to say a thing for me to know exactly what he was thinking. Its like anything we cant test consistently we call it "pseudo-science". Its not science, its called being human, learn to be one dude. Your way of thinking could get someone harmed. If someone truly believed they cant read someones body language and the only way to know what someone does or thinks is by what they say, then their social skills would be down the drain, and theyd be very gullible, and in constant danger becauase they lack awareness.
