Theres so many diy sheaths out there, many of which require many tools, materials, knowledge etc, but your vid is just the one I was looking for: cheap, easy, effective! Thanks!
A quick tip to keep from blunting your axe. Bend the tin around a small piece of rod ~3/16" in diameter. This will create a cavity that the bit can stay in without contacting the tin. I believe the Wranglerstar channel has an example of how to do this, but I think he made it for a different kind of too. Good fortune.
Hey man, this was awesome. I've got tin, duct tape and para cord. I'll make this tomorrow for my camping hatchet. Too many expensive leather ones out there that I find a waste of money for my needs. Cheers.
I would think that would dull the edge, especially if the axe is sharp which it should be. However I think if you put a few layers of tape on the inside at the crease then it should solve that. Good idea, I know a lot of axes dont come with sheaths and for those who love the DIY projects, it be fun yet effective.
I liked this video... I also watched the one where you restored an old axe. Good enough for me... I subscribed and I'm looking forward to watching some of your many videos!!
Instead of using paracord, one can use a long piece of velcro that clasps back upon itself and that can sling around the back of the axe head. That stuff has all kinds of uses.
If you put a thick leather welt between the stitched pieces of leather for an axe sheath, it will not cut through the leather, or the stitching. This will never dull the blade, and it will keep it from rusting as long as you keep the leather properly treated. I am afraid your system will allow rust, and will dull a really sharp axe over time.

Great idea...looks like it will get the needed job done with very little expense. Thank you
Love the idea, but won't the tin / sheet metal dull the blade between uses?
Safe and easy. This is why I subscribe.
