    I noticed a little of kayaking in Baja, any encounters with sharks?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Před měsícem

      Thanks for watching! We have never seen a shark out of all the times we've gone surfing, snorkeling, spearfishing, and kayaking in Baja. We've seen fisherman with a bunch of small hammerheads and have heard a few stories about encounters but haven't had any ourselves. Just lots of dolphins, whales, and sea turtles.

    What time of year is best to visit? Love this video, great info, looking forward to exploring this part of the world. Thanks.

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching! I guess best time to visit really depends on the weather you're looking for. We think that January-March is pretty perfect but the weather changes a ton between Tijuana and Cabo.......it also changes a lot between the Pacific and Sea of Cortez.

    How safe is it down there for camping with kids? Did you ever have problems with locals or anyone?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Před 2 lety

      Hi Ashley. Thank you for watching! We don't have kids but encourage our friends to go that do. We've never had any issues and find that the locals are amazing. We absolutely love it in Baja! With that said, anything can happen anywhere so always use your best judgment when traveling.

    Thanks for the tips! Question: I see that you and Greg typically wear wetsuits when snorkeling. We would like to do some occasional snorkeling (no spear fishing), but hate the thought we would need to outfit ourselves with wetsuits and carry them with us in the van. Any advise/recommendation on best places without getting hypothermia? In the mid Jan- mid March timeframe.

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching and also for the support Walter. We greatly appreciate it! The Sea of Cortez is going to be the warmest but it's generally chilly that time of year. Some people snorkel in swimsuits around Cabo Pulmo but you probably won't last long in the water. Florida is another good van option for warm water but the camping isn't the same.

    • @Wa61105
      @Wa61105 Před rokem +1

      @@DrifterJourney Thanks, but Florida doesn't have good tacos and the boondocking just isn't the same.. I'll just deal with the colder water.😂

    Great video - on my bucket list of places to visit. And if you dont mind, what are the kayaks you guys are using? assuming inflatable? how do you like them? Thanks for the great content!

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching! Yep, the kayaks are inflatable, made by a brand called kokopelli. We love them because they pack down so small!

    Well done video. Just note that putting out info on places has a big impact on them. You 'stayed several weeks' at 9P, yet there is no bathroom there. You left dozens of poops 6" under the sand. When video's inspire 10 more people to do it, you are at 250 more poops that you created. More people, the more the special places are degraded. I'm sure you are great people and I love seeing people make money doing what they love, even when its hard. So no hard feelings towards you at all, just beware the impact of naming places. I wish safe and fun journeys for you guys!

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Nick. We appreciate the concern because we also share that same concern. As for 9P, we were there on separate occasions for a week at a time. We can happily say that we left 0 poops in the sand. Since we know this is an issue, we use our bucket bathroom setup when in sensitive areas that we cannot disperse and dig properly. As for the money, this platform isn't our answer to that at this time (nor do we plan it to be). Trust me, we've always been on the fence about gatekeeping locations......but we toss out some good ones here and there. Hot springs are the ones that I'm extra picky about. One last thought.....these places are out there with no services as stated in the video. I'd like to think that most folks adventuring out to the middle of nowhere would have some respect for the place. And if not, there are plenty of locals around that will say something. Thank you for keeping an open mind and the sincerity of your response. We appreciate that you didn't just try to make it a slam piece.
