    Nice setup Tom. Thanks for sharing your Curtis cab videos with us. Regarding wheel spacers and tire ballast, I believe that, while both are essential to safety, both are designed for a specific purpose. Ballast is essential for counter balance, especially if you do not keep your backhoe attached. The wheel spacers will do a good job in countering the "top heaviness" of the cab. I heard that Bora makes a great wheel spacer. Keep up the good work !

    Lots of great information and the cab looks great. I appreciate your honest straight- forward opinions. Thanks for installing the backhoe and giving us a look. I'l be watching to see you use it in upcoming projects

    I would start with rim guard and if needed add wheel spacers. Nice cab. Thanks for sharing.

    Great video! I have 1" rear wheel spacers, and have the tires loaded with rim guard. I also use chains when pushing snow.

    I don't have a cab, but I did add fluid to my rear tires. I went with RV antifreeze over RimGuard because I didn't have a dealer near me. I also added the 50 lb, plastic coated wheel weights. Those additions made my 1023E super stable. I was limited by my mower deck, so I couldn't run a very large wheel spacers anyway. I found the extra ballast on the rear axle made my tractor extremely stable, even while mowing on side hills.

    That is a nice hard sided cab. I’ve looked at the vinyl door cab I could sure use it here in Michigan when plowing snow. The reality is that being retired I just can’t afford it. Thanks for sharing and stay safe

  • @alittleofthisandalittleofthat

    I need a cab. Last Friday into Saturday in my area we received 41+ CM (16”) of snow and wind. I installed my rear blower and went to work cleaning the yard before my wife got home from her night shift. The cold and wind was terrible and every time the wind shifted I received a blast of snow over me and in my face. I just wish it would come off easy for summer as I mow and don’t want a cab in summer. 👍

    I have loaded tires and keep a box blade on the 3 point for added balance. I also use chains in winter. No problems

    Great videos! Thank you for showing the the rear window and backhoe. I was really curious about that as I look into a 2025R or 32R for my business.

    Add rim guard and wheel weights. If it still feel tippy then add the spacers.

    Hey Tom. Love the cab but what really impressed me was the 360 camera. No one commented on that yet. I guess I am too much of a nerd or something but when I saw that first swing around with the camera, I said wow how'd he do that? You always do such a good job with your videos. I am constantly impressed by how well you document things and take the time to show what you are talking about. I know all of that takes a lot of time and there are probably lots of times when you would just like to get the job done rather than have to show us what you are doing too. However I for one really appreciate that you do let us go along for the ride. All that being said, I love the cab too. It looks like you made a good choice.

      Tim… did you happen to put rim guard in the front tires too? I’m at the point of either a 25 or 32R so I’m curious. Separately, I’d like to know how many of these small compact users are putting wheel spacers on the front too. I would assume it would be a huge advantage with spacers AND rim guard if a person has slightly hilly terrain. Thx

    Great video! I enjoyed seeing the Curtis Cab on your tractor. On our 2210 with the Curtis Cab, we have the rear tires loaded. And I always have my ballast box on the back, because my loader is on the tractor 90% of the time. I like that for the backhoe operation, your rear panel comes out.

    I've got both rimguard and 2 in spacers with a factory cab on my 2025R. If you go with one: I suspect that the 2 in spacers will help more on stability concerning a higher center of gravity.

  • @danielmeyer403

    Nice cab, might get one myself. You'll probably have to move your LED light bar to the front of the cab as the cab is going to block most of the light especially up close. Rim-guard for sure, spacers a good idea.

  • @rodbagley1686

    Spacers and rimguard is what I recommend. I don’t remember if you have a mid mount mower but you won’t be able to use one if you have wheel spacers

    I have that Curtis cab also and since installing it it does feel a bit tippy when off the pavement. I am seriously thinking about the 2 “wheel spacers. I have already loaded the rear tires and have quick hitch with 4 40lb suitcase weights

  • @wew2exp
    @wew2exp Před 2 lety

    Looks good. I'm a big fan of wheel spacers. They really change how the tractor feels after widening that base but you might want to consider how wide your rear implements are first. If 2" spacers make you wider then your box blade or tiller that may start to annoy you. It definitely would annoy me. You might want to start with rim guard and wheel weights first. You will notice a difference either way.

    Hi Tom, I had a 2018 JD 1025R with the Mauser cab. I have since sold that unit. At the time I was running with loaded rear tires (windshield washer fluid), and 3 " inch Bro Tek rear wheel spacers. I would not have wanted anything less. The before and after was truly dramatic and well worth the effort and expense. I would do those very same modifications again in a heartbeat. Hope this helps your decision(s).
    ** PS. These 3" inch spacers will not work with the belly mount JD mowers, but I wasn't running one, so no issues for me.

    I would put Fluid in the tires. I put Washer Fluid in all 4 of mine makes a world of difference in stability, and Traction.

    I have the mauser cab. The heater does blow on the windshield and doesn't have the direct vent onto the passenger. The heater is almost overpowered for the size of the cab. I have never been cold in it (0 degrees, crazy wind, etc) blowing snow in a t-shirt. I would not want the heat blowing on me, it would be too hot.

    Another good video, thanks. Just out of curiosity, what was the main reason you went with Curtis vs a soft sided cab like something from Original Tractor Cab? I went back and forth and ended up going with the OTC, mainly for price reasons, so I was just curious what your thoughts were. I definitely like the Curtis cab and would have gone with the mid level one you chose, but I do have to say I am happy with the OTC. I don’t have a heater in mine but the heat from the hydro transmission and engine get trapped in the cab to the point I have to end up taking my coat off within 20 minutes of snow blowing. But we haven’t had any single digit temps and snow yet to see how it works when it’s that cold. How difficult is it to “roll up” the back window? It is a bit of a job with all the Velcro on the OTC, so wondering it f it’s easier in the Curtis. Anyway, thanks again for the video, keep ‘em coming!

      I looked at 5 different manufacturers of caps. Curtis was in the middle price range and made a solid stable product that rivaled Mauser in quality but not the high price.

    Thanks question is there something you need to take off the back of the cab , or just roll the vinyl window up out of the way. Might keep you out of the wind and could still give you some heat. I like it!

    • @ataleofthreecabins1025
      @ataleofthreecabins1025  Před 2 lety +1

      After editing the video I was also thinking you could still get some heat while using the backhoe, and shade in the summer depending on your position to the sun. Take Care, Tom

    How wide (inches) is that opening for the backhoe. I am a large guy, 6'5" 300 pounds. So I am wondering if my shoulders would fit or not. Would really like one of those cabs since I live in the pacific northwest and rains a lot. Any info would be great.

    Looks great... appreciate the backhoe related info. I have a 2014 TLB with swivel seat. Do you think it would be a challenge getting that seat swiveled or does it seem that there is enough room? Also it looks like reaching back for the the throttle may be difficult but not life changing as you can set the throttle before you get on the hoe. Hard to tell from our perspective. I have 1.5" spacers on all 4 (no cab) but definitely makes a difference in the stability without a cab. So IMHO definitely would help with a cab. I don't have rimguard. Seem to be able to get by with my fat arse and rear attachments for counter weights for all the work I've done to date. I don't do a lot of extreme angle or hill climb work. I keep my loads low and don't overload my bucket. I stay aware while operating with loads etc and understand shite happens. So far so good knock on wood. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
