Thank you so much for making this programme. Absolutely brilliant start to finish. I can't believe Eubank was disliked back in the day, he's a true gentleman outside of the ring and a PURE WARRIOR inside. I just dont understand why he wasn't liked!
Many couldn’t appreciate his showman persona, perceiving it as pure arrogance. This rubbed people up the wrong way, especially given his roots growing up in places like Peckham, Hackney and then the Bronx in New York being starkly contrasted by his gentrified dialect and “upper class gentry” sense of fashion. Some felt he was pretending to be something he wasn’t. He argued “being working class is no excuse for not speaking properly”.
I thought it would be obvious why he wasn't liked. The British Public simply didn't have enough parliamentary procedure to see Eubanks true personality. Set of thugs. This is why I can't sleep at night...

Thanks for posting this.. At the time I was a massive Benn fan and wanted him to win, but since of got older ive also realised what a great man Chris Eubank is, a man of integrity, and truth. They were both fantastic warriors and a credit to Britain. James Toney was an exceptional fighter, but judging from this was a complete twat with no respect. People forget just how big this rivalry was. It was a national event. For Fury and Whyte, that is not any kind of rivalry. Benn v Eubank WAS one of the pinnacles of UK boxing build up and what an electric night that fight was.
Toney in those days took it seriously and was in condition and focused. He would have beaten Eubank on work rate, Benn had a punchers chance at best but I think Toney's superior boxing skills and defense would have brought him home at about the halfway stage a bit like the Benn WSatson Fight
And today we can clearly understand both Chris and Nigel and not a word uttered from James Toney can we understand. This is why you don't talk bad about mother's.
Toney sounded punch drunk way before his boxing career was over - his potential fights with Eubank and Benn would have been too close to call. He may sound punchy but he had a very good ring IQ. However, one barometer may be to say a 40-year-old Michael McCallum held him to a draw - on the flip side Toney stopped Michael Nunn in 11 rounds; Nunn would have given both Benn and Eubank nightmares in the ring with his style, which was similar to Herol Graham who they avoided like the plague. Great lead-up to a decent fight. Thanks for uploading.
