Bought it. Read it. LOVED it. And I have no intention of ever writing any rules.

would PDFs be a good way to start with rulebooks and army books?

I'd say so, they're cheaper than the proper books, although there's something nice about the smell of book paper and the heft of a cover, and the ability to use actual physical bookmarks. I'd say if you're just getting into a system, pirate the rules and test-play a few games to see if you like it, or play with a friend, but if you like the system, support the author and buy it. That's what I did with 40k 7th edition and fantasy 8th edition, and it worked great.

Rick Priestley wrote great things - He was one of the two main authors for "Realm of Chaos : The lost and the Damned" - First edition Rogue Trader published 1990. Realm of Chaos : The lost and the Damned can be read on Scribd, bought on eBay. eBay has hefty cheaper.prices for Realm of Chaos : The lost and the Damned, so Scribd is cheaper. The Emperor's shaman origin was on pages 174 to 188. I'm getting Realm of Chaos : The lost and the Damned for Christmas on eBay - its being shipped to my house, I bought it. So excited!

Unspeakable Gaming ... Lost and the damned was an amazing book. I bought the original from GW Sheffield for £18 when it first came out in 1990.
