The way the knife clicks along the spine while he's filleting... it's like cooking ASMR
Calvin Walker kind of sounds like the clicks a roller coaster makes when your climbing upward
It's like a zipper!
Awesome video stop by and watch us unboxing 4 mystery tackel boxes!
Yes, the knife is an extension of his hand. As anyone who fillets as bad as I do can see...
Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way...ah so nice!
watching you fillet fish is the most satisfying thing ever
Allen Chen awesome fishing
@@ThydaCookingTV Thanks
Allen Chen you’re welcome my friend
I agree!! I feel like that meme right now.
Beautifully done. As much a pleasure to watch as the actual fishing 🖒
I couldn't believe how easily that line was cut by its teeth!!! That's is amazing and scary at the same time.
agreed
braid cuts easier than monofilament
ive been bit by the smaller ones we get here in the states the teeth went right in my thumb i didnt feel it till the blood starting to drip. they have a anticoagulant in the mouths so when you get pricked you bleed like a stuck pig.
It's braid mate, braid is good for weight but terrible for teeth. That's why you have a different leader with the braid. Mono tends to hold up a little better when agaisnt teeth, but with a wire leader you can literally ignore the teeth.
Take those teeth out and make a homemade line cutter
My girlfriend and I make your videos a mini event! We watch them on the big screen together and aspire to catch and cook like you do! Unfortunately we live in Southern Ontario, Canada with very dirty waters so we're looking forward to vacations! Thank you for your content, Taku!!!
Sturgeon in the St Clair. Good luck.
Try north of algonquin
Yeah man I live near London all the fish have 5 eyes
There's a similar species called a Scabbard Fish or a Cuttlass Fish that lives at similar depths off Washington/Oregon. If you want something a bit closer.
Taku when you hit a 1mill subscribers promise y’all of us that you won’t change ✊🏼🥺
Another amazing video. Every time I watch you fillet a fish, I'm fascinated with how much precision and passion you do it. That's the spirit of great cooking.
I love watching people that are good at their jobs but I especially love watching people that are good at their jobs AND enjoy their jobs. There's a certain respect they show to their labors that is indescribably satisfying. Thanks for taking the time to video this for our education and enjoyment.
What a gorgeous fish! Your videos have really bonded my brother and I. He hunts all sorts of game and loves fishing, and I love cooking and learning new recipes and techniques. It's really allowed us to see the skills of the person's craft. Thank you for your rad content!
9:46 Jocelyn’s filming technique is on point!!!!
We just got a gimble so we bout to level up!
Shes a sweetie your lucky to have her!💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
@@OutdoorChefLife I'm sorry if to be rude Jocelyn is your girlfriend? She's so cute.
You guys are such a great couple. Your adventures are so cool. You are so informative about everything you do. Cant wait for the next video.
The first time I had this fish was when I was around aged 13.. The way the chef on board the ship cooked it was so simple.. No fillet required.. I did the fishing and he cooked it...
The chef just cleaned the insides... Rub with salt... Deep fried it.. And cut into sections with bones.. If the fish is cooked well, the top fins can be pulled out and it looks like a comb... I still remember the taste after 27 years... 😍😍😍
My parents used to pop it in the wok and grill em.
Ok Okinawa boy. No seasickness, must be that Okinawa blood.
I wish that was true. I'm Okinawan and I get seasick, as does my brother.
@@score2high Sea sickness or car sickness is a reaction of the brain to the conflicting messages it receives. Your body says you're moving and your eyes say you're still. The brain translates that to the symptoms of being poisoned and immediatelly commands your stomach to empty itself in order to get rid of the poison. One thing that helps is to keep your eyes occupied on the horizon or at least on moving objects instead of looking the floor or a book or a phone.
These catch and cook vids are my haven during finals. Thanks for the good content!
There was something super satisfying about the sound of the first few cuts.
I can’t get enough of your content! Thank you both for sharing your fun and expertise with us all!

I enjoy the elegance of your videos, from your fishing to filleting to cooking. The music is superb and fitting. Unlike a lot of other channels that have tasteless music.

The song is soooo soothing when you are filleting the fish
Dude these fish are mesmerizing out of water with the sliver flare from them.
You know this guy is a boss when he's able to get his non cooked fish eating girl to eat cooked fish willingly and actually enjoy herself.
What a gorgeous fish. Unicorns of the sea!
Awesome video as always Taku and Joclyn! Look delicious too! Wicked knife skills bro! Cheers!

Despite the final dishes not coming out as expected, they still looked absolutely delicious. It's clear Taku that you set yourself to a high culinary standard, and that's what makes your channel so distinguished. Great video as always and hope the finger heals up quick!

Inspiring stuff man, you got me motived to get back in the kitchen 😌🤘
its a thing of beauty watching you fillet a fish, always
Watching you fillet the fish alone is what makes your fishing video
uniquely your style of fishing video
We used to catch these alot in Cocoa Beach Florida, we call em ribbons like you mentioned. You did great job cleaning! They fry up delicious, of course I'm from the south so how we fix em is just tossed in corn meal and fried, soo good! Great video!
I love your vids Taku. Keep it up!
It feel so good you both or showing us what japan have to offer and I really enjoy watching your catch and cook.. Keep it up!! Make a vid where she catch and cook...

I've never been any good at filleting fish, but after watching this video, I think I can up my game a bit now. Love your videos.
Good to hear!
So soothing sound to hear and watch the knife run down the spine.
Your skill never ceases to amaze me. Love these travel / Japan episodes. I need to ad scuba diving and fishing to my bucket list japan trip. Haven't missed an episode. Your channel has come such a long way this year.
Thanks man! Next year will be better, I promise🙏
@@OutdoorChefLife I am excited. Dont forget you have a place to stay, and a boat for ya if you ever visit the area. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
I like that you show the times that it doesn't work when you try new things.
The fish looks like it’s chromed! Beautiful!
Watching you fillet was so meditative for me.
Many thanks.🙏
Love your vids, thanks for doing what you do
"Knife is life"
I'm not gonna lie those fishes look badass. I love how the silver stands out.
such beautiful fish, the color is fantastic.
Salted Belt Fish is my favorite tasting fish of all. When I first tried it in Korea I thought it was a small Barracuda. I love this fish and I would love to have the opportunity to catch some!
Greetings from Thornton Colorado!!! I have friends over there at AF base. They don’t fish!! I always say “If people would just concentrate on the most important things in life, there would be a shortage of fishing poles .” I like how you switch gears when faux Salamander doesn’t get hot enough. It’s all about the recovery. I think what you need to fillet something so long is a a sushi knife mounted to a garden hose reel. Just reel fish in, turn the handle and waa lah ! Lol. Ya know sometimes the best dishes are stumbled upon. Cheers to both of you and Happy Holidays.
I didnt know fish like that existed! Always learning new stuff here! Another dope video
Nicely done from the catch to plate. The fishing part was fun to watch. As noted, we call them ribbonfish in Texas and we catch smaller ones to use as bait for king mackerel. That was some impressive filleting. I almost gasped audibly however when I saw that toaster oven. But it was a good save and it worked well enough to be pretty good. I appreciate the honesty and low-hype of this video.
Really great presentation!
Watching you fillet that fish was something else arigato!
I swear this guy is Mr. Miyagi in his early 20's
love ur video as always taku!
Amazing filleting skills. That's why your the chef. Learned from this video: 45 degree angle.
Your fillet skills are out of this world taku. Love the video
